It's easy to estimate the big parts but all the little parts that are needed start to add up. I started collecting parts when we got the truck to spread the cost out over time. It still takes a lot of time and money to restore vehicles.
Don't remember exactly what wire did what but you should have gotten a tack harness and it plugged into the fuse block then a wire went to the distributor for a signal.
Been shopping around for my 70 C10. I keep getting warnings about the tach will not work with a HEI distributor. Is yours working? And what do i need to look out for, for it to work?
Mossman, Did the tach work with your HEI? I added a tach to my dash cluster, but have not had luck with the tach. I added a filter, to no avail. My tach reads a constant 2500 rpm, no matter what the actual rpm is. I was just curious if yours worked or if you had the same issue that I am seeing.
@@mossman381 Yes, but they are connected to the circuit sheet. Like yours, the tach came with a wiring harness. My harness had the "coil" fitting, not the HEI. I spliced the HEI fitting.

That is a nice looking unit!
Looks great you do nice work. Watch out for going down the rabbit hole lol
I went down that hole a long time ago.
@@mossman381 I know what you mean .
With the new motor, trans and all the other little parts I probably put $15k in the truck.
@@mossman381 I hear you it can happen fast

That's a slick instrument cluster and bezel but damn, that cost!
You have to pay to play :)
It’s getting there
The truck is drivable now. I just need to get caught up on the videos.
@@mossman381 nice trying to drive mine before weather changes
I hope we get a good 2 months of decent weather yet.
Hi i have the same cluster
I don’t know how to connect the wires it came with two wires the pink and brown if you can tell me how thank you

I’m about to install the same cluster setup, what size is the vacuum fitting you used?
Can't say I remember.

You are the second person to ask me this. I had no trouble with the tach and the HEI distributor. Just hooked it up normally and it worked fine.
@@mossman381 thank you sir. Just for answering me, the rest of today will be the best day of your life 🤜🤛
Mossman,

No issues with mine. You shouldn't have to run any filter. Are all your other gauges working?
@@mossman381 Yes, but they are connected to the circuit sheet. Like yours, the tach came with a wiring harness. My harness had the "coil" fitting, not the HEI. I spliced the HEI fitting.
You should be able to get the signal from the coil or hei. Did you buy the all new gauge cluster like mine?
Did you get the right circuit with a tach? It looks like there is one w/tach and without tach.
@@mossman381 I had the gauge set and added the tach. Bought the tach through LMC or Brothers. I don't remember. I have had it a few months.
Who drove it for the first mile? Lol
I have been driving it up and down our road.
