      You think? Honestly, his conversion of Ogun’s aggression into points with that stinger jab won him the title, in my opinion. Connected when it needed to and kept his opponent distanced. Beautiful work. If he got any more aggressive, Ogun’s bomb of a right would’ve taken his head off. Anyway, whether we agree or not, that was the best pure boxing match SB has ever had. Two of the scrapyards best. Ogun is one of my favorites, with his incredible power, but Khi definitely deserves the win. Brilliant strategy to fight outside with the jab. Looking like Sugay Ray Khi in there.

  • @Atlanticmantic
    @Atlanticmantic 10 місяців тому +4

    Khi in a longer fight would kill the other guy. You can tell one is all power punches and gassed at the end dripping wet. The other looks like he could go 5 more rounds. Khi let that man gas himself with so many worthless ineffective power punches.

  • @ElAhrem
    @ElAhrem 10 місяців тому +36

    What an absolute banger of a fight yet again.
    Superb performance by Khi - he really knows his range exactly and succeeded in keeping Malik outside of his danger area.
    There's absolutely no doubt about it, if Malik gets inside, he'll outclass you if you can't handle short range exchanges. He's got power and dynamic movement for days. If he rounded out a little more by getting more comfortable with straight punches and perhaps a bit more mid-range striking on his way in, he'd be unstoppable.
    In this fight though, it was Technique over Power. Excited to see the final rematch in a few weeks time though - what an absolute treat the Scrapyard brings. Maximum respect to Firechicken and everyone in the team for putting on something inspirational to us all over the world, including my corner of sunny Greater Manchester!

      Range and cutting him off, but notice Malik changed up from bulldozing, yet he's still blasting for a powerhouse knock out (air ball punches can still wear you down quick) and Khi stayed clear of it. Great performance and good sportsmanship.

  • @Firenutz
    @Firenutz 10 місяців тому +8

    BEAUTIFUL FIGHT. So great to see these two actively get better throughout the fight. You got the decision right. Khi’s left jab is special. Congrats on a well-earned title over a beast of an opponent. Ogun, never hang your head. You are growing into a seriously scary fighter. A bit more speed and leg stamina and you’ll be nearly unbeatable.

  • @emanthechamp
    @emanthechamp 10 місяців тому +18

    Malik like your coach said you need to work your way into Kai. You're starting off throwing a haymaker from way outside often times and that's the only punch you'll throw in the sequence. You can throw that big haymaker to "scare him" from the outside, but your feet need to travel with you while you throw some more distractions to get in close. Also work that high guard and maintain that close fight at all times. You do great when you start the round rushing him, but after it doesn't "work", then you allow him to regain his distance after your flurry is done. Fighting someone much taller than me in an unnofficial event is what made me actually train boxing now, and that's one thing I've found with fighting taller people, "never let them breathe". The last sparring clip I uploaded on my channel may be a good example of me actually doing what I'm asking you to do. Kai did an excellent job on his distance control. You'll have to get these things down if you want your next match to go in your favor.

    Malik has some real potential. If he can get some better set up shots instead of throwing everything he has into every punch, it would do wonders for his cardio. If he insists on the all or nothing style, then he should focus primarily on defense until he gets to in-fighting range where his shots are bound to connect with a sprinkle of long range shots to keep his opponent focused on defense like a lengthy overhand and hard jabs to the body.

    First off, shout out to both fighters, they put it on the line in the ring in a style match up that challenges them both to stick to a disciplined execution of their game plan! 1-1 and definitely waiting for the tie breaker.
    Khi listened to his trainer this time and circled Ogun to his left which he doesn't like to do. When Khi circled to Ogun's right it was into Ogun's power and unnecessarily put him in jeopardy of the rear hook and uppercut. Khi also stayed level headed even after getting caught with shots or bullied around the wall with arm framing attempts and initial pressure each and every round. In the future I would like to see him jab out of more exchanges, never take more than 2 steps backward before a pivot or side step and develop a serviceable lead uppercut or a check hook for when Ogunquit dips his head to come in with the high guard without a setup.
    Ogun favors the looping hooks and wound up telegraphed power shots and it works for him often enough but I would like to see him incorporate a setup jab more often, improve his head movement with a slip-roll-roll mix and develop exterior footwork to turn to his right, interior footwork (a skip step or switch step) to keep the pressure on Khi or any other fighter with a reach advantage for that matter. Too many times he let Khi step around or out uncontested without knowing how to cut him off without framing him up with his arms while partially off balance making it hard to land cleans shots after all that energy expenditure. The athleticism and explosiveness is there for *damn* sure, just needs to shore up a few things to be more of a complete package.
    Lastly, big props to both cats for lacing up the gloves, entering the ring and contesting for the W. They both looked like improved versions of themselves and I hope that trend continues.

    I think you got it right as far as who won he landed more shots and seemed more precise on shots thrown. Good call

    That was a really nice fight.
    the darker fella. kind of reminds me of Nigel Benn only with less punching behind the head.
    and the lighter fighter. looks like he could fight another 5 rounds.
    one hell of a show. great work.

    Great fight! Both were in it for the win! I think the call was fair. I had it 3-2. But if Malik had connected with any of them hay makers. This would have gone a different direction!

    great scrap, the right boxer won that fight. Khi is clearly the more skilled and technical fighter Malik is a beast but he only throws heavy haymakers..he needs to set those shots up.

    Ogun has some real power but imo he needs to time his full power shots and not telegraph them do much I believe Kai is way too hesitant but he did what he needed to win and it was an all around good fight since it 1-1 gotta have a 3rd to see who the real winner between these 2

    Dudes got the Peekaboo style down, just doesn't get extension and push forward from this back foot like he should (like Tyson did). He needs to cover about 4-6" more when he's throwing that lead hook. No real solid setup lead lefts thrown too which would've helped him when he closed the distance, multiple times that shot could've landed. Good fight regardless.

    Malik was letting that right hand fucking FLY. If he was able to get in range and let that connect early it would’ve over. When he rushed khi at 1:38 he could’ve ended the fight. I really thought he was gonna tee off when he got him in close. Awesome fight though.
