Rockstar North is based out of Edinburgh, so a Scotland-based game is always a possibility
No lie, I would legit cream at the idea of a GTA UK. The busy bottom half of the map would be reminiscent of London/Manchester, and the more rural top half would give us the beautiful scenery of the Highlands with mini cities that take inspiration from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and even Dundee in a ironic full circle kind of sense.
I can picture seeing the 'There are no Easter Eggs up here, go away!' at the top of the Finnieston Crane.
I would fucking love a game like that. No joke, it's been my dream game since I was a wean. Like, I remember playing getaway and imagining what it would be like if the game wasn't so shite.

A cartoonish, shallow single player story mode that is just a bunch of pop culture movie references, plot lines and pastiches all sloppily thrown together and each mission serving as a ridiculous Fast and Furious or Michael Bay style action set piece alongside a multiplayer mode that will be milked for years for its potential to rinse children out of their mum and dad's money for cosmetics and in game cars. I know I just described GTA V but since that was incredibly profitable and still is more than a decade later, why would they change that formula just to appease the few people like me who will only pay once?

GTARP online i think chat was talking about... like 350+ players on one server, heavily modded and roleplay driven so long term gang wars break out between players etc... long term persistance with long term consequences. most if not all is pretty much possible in modded GTA online

The development of GTA5 is so old that Uber/Lyft didn't exist during it's production, so you travel via taxi.
Ride share will almost certainly be the fast travel method in GTA6, meanwhile in the real world, rideshare companies are now in decline and being regulated into a taxi service. Fascinating look at how long it takes to make a game

we live in a post-satire age. video game developers are always about a decade behind youth culture. Unless Rockstar have made an entirely new engine, there's little they can do to make the game 'new'

Personally I'd like to see a system that lets you make custom missions or maybe set your HQ up as a raid type mission that doesn't penalise you or your enemy but just rewards the successful person, and not in a way that encourages boosting. Like maybe the reward is dependent on how many enemies the raider kills and how many of your units are left as the person being raided. Rewards don't have to be huge, but this would encourage the creation of challenging levels that aren't so hard that people never play them. And for people with less online friends, you can have the game pick somebody's level at random.

Don't care much for online and gta 6 will definitely prioritise online and even the single player mode will just be a big tutorial for the online mode. So will probably be a shite game for me. Bummed. I loved gta IV so much.
Limmy’s ideas for the game are the worst ideas I could imagine. If I was trying to consider “how could I ruin Grand Theft Auto completely” these are the things I’d suggest.

I'm not sure casual GTA players are/will be that into base building. It requires too much brain power, and I don't mean that pejoratively. I just mean people want to play a game they can chill out to thay doesn't require too much complex strategy and problem solving.
Mafia 3 had good idead I guarantee rockstar will use. I think a similar size map but packed with a living city and big time rpg style, drug dealing empire...scarface, the wire, top boy...strategic, turf wars...realism.
It's absolutely just going to be GTA V with a bigger map and better graphics.

I think the structure of the game should be changed, not just focus on crime, and being a career criminal, but give you more characters to play, chose whether to be a lawman or a criminal, chose to be a corrupt lawman, or a vigilante criminal etc.
Really give the players FREEDOM.
The whole idea of JUST being a gangster or JUST a criminal is so outdated and boring.
Would be cool if you could really get into business in the world, owning businesses, managing them to some degree etc.
Make the game about hustling, and the conflicts, violence, vendettas, crimes etc happening around all of that.
The idea of being a girl and guy bank robbers is just so dumb. But that's what they're going for.
Would be way cooler to be a yakuza girl hitman or a big henchman, or basically a Walter White meth lab maker maniac etc. Like get to pick wildly different characters like that.

GTA6 will be a platform and social space like Roblox and Fortnite, for which content creators can make experiences. These can be free or paid, and Rockstar will take a cut. Additionally, there will be a focus on item ownership and trading, creating a sort of web3-like metaverse and taxable marketplace for these items.

Of course people will keep buying and playing GTA games, but there is only so much you can do with the same formula. I can't imagine still being interested in, let's say, GTA 18.

Maybe they'll go the ARK route, more customisable aspects, map revamp etc, possibly early access release to gather money and feedback then keep building seems to be what the publishers get away with these days then add in the microtransactions and better content via that way. Would be nice for a completely new map area and more access to buildings in game instead of hiding in parking lots or the side of buildings. What's the bets of there being a few large patches from the get go.
Almost certainly. The gaming world is very different now compared to 2013. Not a chance they let the money glitch chaos from GTA 5 happen. Would cost them millions. Game will be patched every month for a year

You build like a garage for example and it can be attacked while you are offline but you pay to hire guards and security systems to look after it

Full interiors would have been awesome. Instead of a bigger map get a deeper map with more interiors.

Im hoping for RDR2 levels of awesomeness in GTA6, the fact its taken them 10 years between releases, this will probably be the last GTA game I play before I end up like a sad old balding low life like our man here.
Revenge is never done right in games, in Assassins creed odyssey and RDR2 many games a revenge storyline but imagine revenge was after you've done well and built your empire but in-game you get robbed etc...then it's gleeful getting back at the big cheese.
Going back to Vice City in the present day just doesn't sound exciting. I'd much rather they tried not rehashing a city they've already done. Especially Vice City which was more about the 80s theme than the fact it was Miami. Modern day Miami just isn't interesting. Also by the time this game releases I wonder how outdated a lot of the writing will be, mainly because subjects and hot topics rapidly change by the month. How does a game developer that takes 10 years to make a game keep up with the total shitshow that is modern life? Even if they were writing about what's happening right now it'll still feel dated when GTA6 comes out. South Park can barely keep up to date and that's written during the week the news breaks.

@@georgeclayton That still sounds a bit shite, Miami (Vice City) looks so similar to LA (Los Santos) that GTA V is based on, and South America (Guarma) was the worst part of RDR2. Time to move on from boring tropical/semi tropical settings. Chicago would have been perfect, and sprawling countryside areas like Fargo/Minnesota/North Dakota.

The satrire style of GTA V will not work, it was too silly and goofy. The world is way crazier now. I could maybe see them taking a similar route to GTA IV by making it super serious and playing the humour straight, meaning it would go over everybody's heads.

I've been holding out hope that 6 will have some sort of integrity if not in terms of the online meat grinder then at least when it comes to the story and world design. This was my email to rockstar in 2012 for my suggestions for GTA V, lol: "Hey rockstar!!!
1.I really missed flying planes in GTA IV, it meant the game feel very limited, GTA SA had a feel of freedome when you could actually fly a jumbo jet!! GTA We just had planes on the airport and I remember 1 day trying to get into all of them haha just a tease.
2.Ah customisable guns isn't a huge need for me because wel It's not a cod5 game. I think a Jetpack should be available too like in GTA Sa and a BMX Would be awesome!
3.Customisable cars is a big need for me, like the default customisable car skins that came with SA-MP.
Also weather like sand storms, and even snow would be cool, and an earthquake or tornado and it would rip apart buildings but these tornado's aren't very common, then worker would come to the building and it would take some game days to fix it, and just say a giant f5 tornado took out the bridge at the beginning of the first mission :) Wel thanks I hope you include some of this thanks alot R you really made my childhood!"
With the story, the developers will tread carefully as they'll feel the wrath of the social media police if they don't. Perhaps they'll force you to play as Glasgow police. No more LSPDFR SP mods necessary. A lot of content over the years has been removed from GTA V since 2013. Satire is less likely to be lost on readers of books compared to your average gamer. Videogames are constantly veering towards realism and how they must make some sort of positive statement and reflect reality. They will never be taken seriously as adult content. To fool social media from complaining about any content perhaps they'll make GTA in the style of Wind Waker or Yoshi's Island or hide everything behind a massive paywall (most likely, given the amount of GTA online content compared to the GTA V single player mode)

It will be so tame and boring that it will just become another massive open world game that lacks anything original. I don't think they will be terrified at all. GTA will sell by the millions. They don't give a crap what garbage news outlets and sensitive influencers say.
These times are probably even better for GTA to parodize. I'm very curious what they come up with.
@@florisr9 it's 2023, inoffensive sells, and they wont want to alienate anyone with jokes at the expense of their gender/race/culture. Plus, Dan Houser, Leslie Benzies and Lazlow have all left Rockstar. They were a big influence in the sarcastic parody and edgy tone of the previous games. There's no way it will be as funny, or as sardonic as the rest of the series

@VillaVelasco89 I don't agree, I think they could be as offensive as they'd like and it'd be fine. All that would happen is you'll see blown out of proportion headlines saying it's cancelled, just for everyone to move on in a few days like always. The real problem is, would it even be funny? So many comedians rely on 'isn't the world so weird?' now that it's grown stale, and I'm not sure it'll be all that funny. Guess time will tell
