I think my parents just thought i was really stupid as a kid. They would ask me how can i not recognize someone i see every day? I didnt know and it was stressful

I tell people I have trouble recognizing people and faces up front. After years and closeness, I will recognize them. In my child's school, I would call one parent in my daughter's school by another's name because they were about the same size, color hair, height, etc... and I knew the other father pretty well as I had been at several parties at their house. Yet, I thought the other father was the father of the parties and talked to him about "his" child and mine in camp. He corrected me, and I said "sorry, I'm face blind and only get the overall characteristics. He took it well and I think was more fascinated than offended. Luckily none of the other parents were so close in other looks but in 6 years of Elementary school, I never got which parents went with which kids. So frustrating. Since then I tell people ahead of time when I am in a situation that they expect me to know who they are. I'm just glad that I can recognize those close to me and I'm not like the boy that cannot recognize his mother.

    That's just weird... bizarre.
