  • If the casualty has a head injury, the Head Injury Bandage technique should be used to assist him before the ambulance arrives.
    1) Put a pressure pad on the wound of the victim
    2) Using a roller bandage, roll the bandage on the anchoring side first.^
    3) The first loose end should be left untucked. Ask the victim or another rescuer to hold the first loose end.
    4) Roll the bandage around the forehead and back of the head for 2 rounds
    5) Cross the bandage over the first loose end
    6) Continue by bandaging on the pressure pad on top of the head and through the chin
    7) Finish up the roller bandage followed by tying the end of the roller bandage together with the first end
    8) Tuck the loose end.
^Anchoring: For a wound on top of head, side of head, ears, cheeks or chin, anchoring will be done around the forehead and back of the head. For a wound on the forehead and back of the head, anchoring is done around the chin and top of the head.
