Grand Seiko don't make dainty dive watches. Instead, the Japanese watchmaker follows their design philosophy of blending form and function in a way that doesn't compromise either, with large, legible underwater tool watches that can hold up against anything you're likely to do with them. One great example is the Grand Seiko SBGX335, a quartz dive watch that is a quintessential expression of what the brand is about.
Featuring an immaculately polished 43.6mm stainless-steel case, the flat surfaces of the lugs are emphasised by the knife-sharp case lines. It certainly isn't a small watch, but it wears smaller than you might imagine with a strongly built bracelet that follows the contours of your wrist with snug comfort. The screw-down caseback guarantees 200m of water resistance, while the black 120-click dive bezel is a pleasure to operate.
Powering the Grand Seiko SBGX335 is the in-house caliber 9F61, a top of the line quartz movement that offers accuracy to within +/-10 sec per year. Grand Seiko are well known for the superior quality of their quartz movements, which contain in-house quartz crystals and a thermocompensated regulator to guarantee the most accurate performance.
The SBGX335 is a function-forward dive watch that is recognisably Grand Seiko thanks to the hard angles of the case and super-legible dial. If you're a recreational diver, or simply someone looking for a watch that will be able to survive anything you can throw at it, this is a watch that should be considered.

Your review is what sold me on this model. I wanted a no-nonsense tool watch that I know would be tough as nails and be reliable as a quick grab-n-go watch that I don't have to worry about setting. This diver has become my everyday tool watch and I gotta admit my Tudor Submariner has gotten a little jealous. This watch has to be seen in person just to appreciate the craftsmanship and its presence. I agree with most that Spring Drive and High-Beat models are just too big in comparison to other Top-Tier Dive watches, but the SBGX335 is a bit smaller and I couldn't be happier.
That is one heck of a watch. Any day of the year!
Is it only me or do you also think that the shape of the bracelet elements do not fit to the rectangular design of the lugs?
Sorry, but this watch just does not please me.
I agree, even the finishing is different
Agree they should make a more fitting bracelet. Maybe using a grand seiko rubber strap will look better.
Interesting watch. Regards.
If you want something different from most of the automatic divers, this is something to keep your eye on.
Sadly, it is pretty tall which shouldnt be necessary as its quartz tech.
Any micro adjusts on the clasp? That seems to be their Achilles heel...
Yeah, it’s like the one used on the MM300’s
I’m just not fond of the GS divers’ design. Love the brand though.
Beautiful watch
Why the yellow though? I’d love this watch but the yellow on the chapter ring is a deal breaker. It looks so out of place. The white one is much nicer looking but white watches aren’t for everyday IMO.
Nice
hr hand too short. bracelet shade doesn't match the case
👍👍
44mm is too large for most people
Quartz watch for 5K and looks like a seadweller? Good work seiko.
4000$ for a quartz?
Looks like a rolex
No, it looks like a Blancpain 50 Fathoms. And the Rolex looks like that one too!
Yes…exactly like a Rolex.
@@lordbogus6709 Arrow Markers, Baton Indexes at 3, 6 and 9, Round Indexes, Hour Hand, Bezel, Bracelet is very Rolex Style. Blancpain is different. There is no submariner with arabic numeral in the 12 Hour position like the Fifty Fanthoms.
@@rolexmike I think you missed his point by a mile.
The case is Blancpain drew the general lines for any diving watch to come a that point in history.
And this Gs is about as similar to a sub as the Rolex is similar to a 50 fathoms, not much really.
But still, any modern dive watch is inspired by Blancpain, that's a fact.
Too big. Come on Grand Seiko. Seiko continues to make better looking divers than GS?! Are you deliberately trying to fail in the dive watch category?
Reminds me of a Rolex. So let’s talk Rolex.
So how about those Rolexes!!??
Wouldn't spend that amount of money on a quartz movement..Buy a spring drive instead.
no to price
