The difference is Arsenal pays his checks and England doesnt. He's openly said he doesnt like football, so its just a job for him. He has no sense of national pride to represent his country, thats why he snubbed it..

All I know is he has been a top professional for Arsenal and he thrived at Brighton under several managers. Does not seem like the type to be any type of fraud. We know him better followinf Arsenal and no reports of him having any issues with any players or managers or reports of him outside of football.

There was nothing stopping Southgate picking Ben white for 2 years for the qualifiers and friendliest Ben white only made himself unpicksble just before the euros, Ben white was arguably the best right back in the league for 2 seasons and didn’t get a look in why would he allow Southgate to drag him to Germany to not get a single minute just so Southgate can pat himself on the back for picking him
Ben White would be the best option at right back, Walker and Trippier are both defensive liabilities and Reece James just can’t stay fit.

Darragh is absolutely spot on with his take on mental health in my opinion
Many people abuse and use mental health as an excuse these days so you cannot blame people who are initially sceptical about people who use it as an excuse. As for Ben White has ad every right to reject a call up. I like his courage as opposed to others who will just go ahead to please others. There is life after football that does not involve football.
Darragh is superb. I normally hate TS, but I watch when he's on.
People rave about TAA. Problem is, he can't defend. Which is a bit of an issue....... with him being a defender!
Ben White clearly had a problem with Southgate and his refusal to play for him, and apparent availability now that he has gone speaks volumes. Ben White would have been wonderful in the Euros.

How many players get a rollocking in the changing rooms. This is part of the job grow up, stop crying. You're a footballer. You should be more invested and doing the research. Don't care if you don't like it, it's your Job. Watching the competition and other clubs play is essential research for a footballer. Do your homework, and don't cry when you get told off when you don't.. Either way, don't abandon you're teammates, the fans, the country.. Because you have beef with 1 coach, bite your tongue, do your job.

Im asuming you are 15 and dont know any better but google englands reaults at tournaments before southgate and the players we used to have. Its kind of englands history to over rate players and scapegoat managers and expect way too much despite seeing one semi final in 50 years before southgate 😂

My take on Whites situation was that he didn't actually turn down England when called up. He had a huge row with the coach ,not even the manager, and then wasn't called up for several squads in a row. So to save himself the disappointment of not being called up , again and again, he said "do you know what, don't call me up".

How is White described as soft for walking away? He was chewed out as less professional by the coach in front of/ compared to current first choice and club rival for a place in the england team (Walker). He is rightly offended and choose to walk away - surely the incident smacks of favouritism in opinion of rival and discriminates against him? I'm much older than BW but like most people outside of football, who compete in other walks of life, just brushing off every preconceived insult will only take you so far. If you are professional and falling foul of those types of incident with your employer in the workplace, it usually means you are not seriously considered with any career/promotion prospects within that working environment. There comes a point where you just need to call it a day and leave that environment.
This generation of player often having little interest in watching football says a lot.
Football is a working class sport and when it's locked behind expensive paywalls how are kids ever meant to watch it? It's cheaper to play the game than to sit at home watching.

If McDonagh would have moved heaven and Earth to play for his country at Rugby, how did women and discos get in the way then? Ben White sacrificed all that to be in a position to be picked for his country. He has much more steel.
I could care less about coaching staff and whatever happened between Ben White and Steve Holland, the fact of the matter is Walker and Trippier have both been pony at the Euros and should just hang up their boots, that would leave us short at right back and like it or not (depending on the team you support) Ben White has probably based off form been the best English right back last season, so purely on a footballing stand point I would include him in the squad as he can play both right back and centre back. Other nations don't care about disputes they put forward their best squads in order to win the major honours but here in England fans are just way to fickle.
He did the right thing because it was clear to see he won't get a game.
For me it was obvious why ben white wanted nothing to do with that shambles.

All very good points, but he is failing to consider Ben White relationship with Saka on the field. He really does get the best out of Saka with his link up play. Walker's was non-existent .. and Trent is a terrible defender.
If palmer keeps playing the way he is Saka might find himself on the bench soon enough for England

kyle walker was englands worst playing in the euro's. always out of position, always getting done for pace and ALWAYS not goalside of the attacker. He the best right back in his own head!.

Walker was useless in the euros constantly out of position, TAA can’t defend to save his life either as a RB or cdm. Reece James constantly injured so where is the competition for White at rb? McAntony is just another owner who thinks he knows everything but actually knows nothing. Why would anyone want to play for England when you never win anything? Better for players to focus on club careers and win trophies at club level than waste their time with England.

Maybe he turned England down because he had no interest. I mean this is coming from a guy who openly said and made sure we are all aware that he doesn’t watch football. That very much suggests to me that if he doesn’t watch football, he doesn’t care and only plays for money. He plays for arsenal and does very well, and gets paid. But chooses not to play for England as I said, maybe if moneys not a motivation, he just doesn’t care.
He's one of many, he's just openly honest about - it's just a job these boys happen to be good enough to get paid extremely well for - many players only play international football to boost image rights and sponsorship deals - money talks.
