They were all automatics on TV besides the one they crashed into the lake. In cab shots were auto with a floor shifter. I’m sure some of the lower model stunt cars were column shifted.

Granted, even though this is just a car commercial i honestly don't see how Bo and Luke would just part with the General like that granted how valuable the '69 Chargers have become in the years since the show was originally airing. Also a minor error but this General appears to have a custom wheel mounted shifter, whereas most of the ones used in the show were floor mounted.
There was an episode of Smallville in 2005 with a couple minutes of Tom Wopat and John Schneider driving a '69 Dodge Charger, looking just like the Duke boys but speaking as their Smallville characters.

If the old 383 or 440 was getting a little slow, they could have just swapped it out for a new Hellcat Hemi. Throw in a 8 speed Torqeflight or a 6 speed Tremec and the General would fly! Cheaper than buying a whole new car and you still have the classic '69 Charger.
