I was always a big fan of Primo, but my god did this series bring him to legend status for me. I never knew how much work he did on a beat to get what he did. Awesome series!
Premo makes modern-day hieroglyphics. In 70 years people will look back and wonder how in 1999 these sounds were perceived this way. Remember Chosen told ya. :)
@@Andy-km1xp That's pretty cool. Another sampling that I love is found in Mobb Deep's Shook Ones Pt. II. There's a video of it here on UA-cam by Hulu Dodd. Highly recommend that you check it out.
This is great man! The bird chirp as the bell, I never knew that! Dope! One correction here... The kick drum pattern is supposed to be different in the song proper vs the intro. You used the same pattern for the intro and the song. All good tho! Very informative.
True. Doesn't make it less wack but very true. He made that statement before the internet days, when DJs were giving away the samples. I know of a few well known Indie artists who got cease and desists for albums because of people sample snitching in the UA-cam comments though. I don't think people do it maliciously, but sometimes there are repercussions to posting the samples in a public forum
I went to the Prhyme concert he had with royce da 5'9. He had this part of the show where he pretty much started his beats from scratch and it ended up as the classic beats we all know and love. Similar to what happens in this video, except around a thousand people were reciting the lyrics together.
Sinc1TV Yea man it was like witnessing the purest form of hiphop greatness, everyone was bumping heads haaard. As soon as we heard Nas is Like, and Shook ones, everyone in the venue was jumping.
I'm a huge NWA fan and i see you don't have any of their songs down but if you could break down one of their songs that would be great. Gangsta Gangsta is my personal fav/ request, Thanks.
gangsta gangsta is a loop of "weak at the knees" by Steve Arrington, a scratch sample of "Eazy Duz It" and "Ruthless Villain" by Eazy E , a drum sample of " Ashley's Roachclip" by the soul searchers and "NT " bt Kool and The Gang with an 808 pattern patched in through an sp1200 . The break is made up of samples from "Johnny wuz a gangsta" by original concept, "My philosophy" by Boogie Down Productions, and " Sonnet to my idol" by Lady Reed. It also contains samples of "LA Di Da Di " by Doug E. Fresh, "A Bitch iz a Bitch" by NWA , " God Made Me Funky" by the Headhunters, "Take The Money and Run" by The Steve Miller Band, "Impeach The President " by The Honeydrippers, " Troglodyte " by Jimmy Castor, "Funky Worm" by The Ohio Players, and "Ain't no Half Steppin" by Big Daddy Kane .
Really nice and enjoyable videos...Can you make some of the Alchemist instrumentals, like 'Hold you down' (stand/there whatever) or even 'Back again' which is really nice chopped banger
Dude the vocoder "nas" that plays when the first hook starts is so dope... Maybe the freshest vocoder used in hip hop and it's only a fraction of a second long... They should've used it more.
I knew Premier was great but I didn't understand how crazy good he was till you broke down the bird part of the sample. How do you come up with that!!!
when i buy the project files, is there the finished beat included? if not, could you upload the finished beat somewhere to download? would do me a huge favour, because i want to scratch like premo over his beats, and to find a beat without the scratches is very hard. would help me improving in scratching alot.
love ur breakdowns , i use Maschine too can wait for the next. seeing your on the preemo or just blaze tour. can you breakdown Wat we do from Freeway or D'evils
The bird chirp tho... Somethin so small that adds so much to the track

I NEVER would have thought that was Biz saying Nas. Pure genius!
Premier is the G.O.A.T........PERIOD
Incredible. Premo is the man.
This is why Preem is the GOAT.
The only UA-cam videos I HAVE to watch when they come out are these, fantastic as always
One of my top 10 hip hop tracks. Great to see the beat analysis. There's so much that goes into making greatness!
Heard it the first time this week and I feel the same!
@@Andy-km1xp Welcome to the club! I assure you, you'll come across many such tracks.
@@ultraviolet.catastrophe I actually produce Boom bap now so it’s encouraged me to listen to more! But I’ve always been amazed by good sampling

D King him and timbo are legendary for making sound effects fit into beats amazingly

These make you appreciate the song so much more
Premo hated sample snitching
+Sinc1TV Hated? Past tense? He doesn't anymore?

Excellent man, my only gripe is that the drums don't swing like the original.
