Thanks for making that statement about respecting the devs at 7:10. These devs are people too and it is not okay to harass someone just because you don't like their creation! I weirdly like the character design? They look like they're made out of cheap fibreglass, and it reminds me of being creeped out by fibreglass statues as a kid
This is what happened to me for Rainbow Friends. i hate it on a simple quality stand-point, but being an ADHD teen it's fun to play a ton then leaving and the dinosaur one sleeping is strangely cute.
Their goal is to end up like Fnaf, Bendy, or Hello neighbor. Have some big youtubers like Markiplier to play it, have it absolutely blow up, and eventually settling down with a faithful audience of 7 year Olds. They don't want to make a good game they want to make a marketable brand
I feel like nowadays horror isn't even horror, I've seen many times when horror was turned into a kids thing. A classic example is Trevor Henderson's creations, I've seen so many creations just being turned into something else it was completely not meant from
You can tell that the out of place, super slow drone and the weirdly tight security for a daycare/kindergarten is just there to pad out the game and increase the amount of time played.
1:12 as an active roblox player for years now im almost positive it STARTED as nothing but a joke. i remember when this game came out and it was when peppa was the big meme, which was why it was made. but it quickly turned into a cash grab.
1:15 Piggy was first made as a joke game, and the Dev has consistently tried to improve his skills and it has definitely shown. Not to mention, hes also a super nice guy.
Piggy was not really meant be a game, it was just the creator (minitoon) testing his skill in player tracking and scripting. He mixed Peppa Pig and horror, it accidently got popular and so in chapter 4, he really ramped it up. So no, Minitoon didn't want a cash grab, we wanted to test his skill for scripting.

Actually since you brought up games made by small dev teams there are some really good indie horrors made by just a person or two but they tend to not be mascot horror. I feel it may be an age thing as a lot of indie horror I see is PS1 inspired so I assume most people making them are in their 30s (and thus a little too old to have grown up on FNAF). Hopefully as the years go by there will be a shift towards mascot horror being less soulless cash grabs and more passionate devs that actually grew up on those titles.

There is a game I’ve watched that unfortunately, makes Garten of Banban look as if it was a good game (and I’m not saying this to offend the devs or anyone). Hide Time. A game that is heavily inspired by Poppy Playtime that does not look fun to play. But yeah, this is an awesome video. And I do hope mascot horror devs can start to make great games again.
I mean sure. Poppy is a cashgrab made just to sell toys to children... But at least the game has a minimum of "QUALITY". The ambience is dark and claustrophobic and the "monsters" even if basic they don't look like _"How to make a character 3D model Tutorial 1/5"_
The other day, I saw a young kid at an elementary school with a huggy wuggy plush... If I see merch for garten of banban walking around the streets, I don't know what to say.
this game feels made with the same intent as hello neightbor, which is just to produce content and make money out of it, but at least hello neightbor had at least someone midly skilled at making the 3d models this game is the equivalent of the morbius of indie horror games there is no actual effort put into it, no passion, no intent of making anything, no story to tell, you can see from a mile away that not even the developers liked even just a bit their own characters and just put them out there to make money
Piggy was a joke game that didn't even intend to be popular, but just took off. Sure the gameplay might not be that good, but the game takes a storyline focus and that's what makes it popular. It was based off of granny, but wasn't really trying to be scary. The developer isn't even that bad either, he actually has great humor!
It’s not even that bad if a game, I always think of these games as puzzle games with horror elements, when you look at it like it pure horror and not what it’s obviously meant to be of course it’s gonna look bad compared to something like FNAF
*_Garten of Banban_*_ is what happens when you take Poppy Playtime and you fire all the talented artists involved in that "Ponzi scheme" of a videogame._ Once all cool animations and sequences are removed you get a poor excuse of a Scape Room made for kids to watch on UA-cam to buy their new bright colors funny but spooky character.
If this game was created solely to be a satirical joke about indie horror tropes, I would have loved it to death. It serves that purpose exceptionally well. However, sadly, the developers seem to believe they have the next fnaf on their hands. They want us to take this game seriously.

I've said it a lot on other videos that cover this game. There's other better Indie Horror games that have come out but they never get recognition in favor of crap like this. Look at at games like Alisa on steam it's a resident evil like that does eldritch horror and killer dolls or Lost in Vivo by KIRA. They're one of the best indie horror devs like ever. The ocean is vast but people keep casting thin nets and catching garbage like Poppy Playtime and this seriously it's not hard to find better games
I actually did have some tiny sparkle of hope for Ban Ban until learning more about The Two Stooges. Screw these guys. #freeuhyeah #birdup “Truly indie horror is the most inbred genre.” Beautiful words. 😂
Why do I feel like the Pizza Tower level "Don't make a sound" is a better horror experience than this game? Besides, of course, Pizza Tower being a indie game made with love, creativity, and whatever people were on when they made things like Ren and Stimpy
I can’t wait to see the orange jellyfish guy in a future chapter. With how shitty this game’s models are, I really want to see how horribly animated his tentacles are
Jacksepticeye just played this and he also was not happy with the game. Usually, even with bad horror games, he still usually likes them. However, in this case, he actually didn’t like the game and I think that really says something
dont rag Piggy because it wasnt made to be popular. Roblox is full of "meme games" like how Piggy started; basically finnicky tech demos with some twinge of absurdity to them and repetitive, limited gameplay. this is cause you cant do a full AAA game level production on your game idea by yourself, and some people just want to make a fun little test build. Piggy was supposed to be a funny granny peppa pig spin off, and then it blew up, so the devs kept making content. as far as I know, the dev(s), Minitoon, r pretty nice. its a classic roblox game. tiny community, tiny premise, and a lot of love (usually).
It honestly makes me sad to see mascot indie horror become like this. Say what you will about FNAF, Bendy, Choo Choo Charles, or any others, but you can tell they had a lot of effort and heart put into them, especially FNAF. Banban is just a soulless husk that barely gets a reaction out of me - let alone a scared one - when I look at it. All they seem to care about these days with mascot horror is money and trying to pander to kids. This is why, to me, FNAF will always be the best.
Once I browsed the Multiversus discord, and they have a section where you can request a character being added. Usually characters requested are either a "please can you add ___" or "___", but someone made a full ESSAY on how the fuckin bird from banban should be added. I thought it was a joke, but they responded to people asking how that would work if Multiversus is owned by Warner Bros, with vitriolic disgust towards the idea that their character couldn't be added. I can't believe the devs reacted to criticism in almost the same way
FNAF worked because it wasn't trying to be anything. All these new games are trying too hard be be FNAF. I wish we could get some cool new games that aren't trying so hard to mimic something existing.
An amusement park. Hmmm……… Look forward to the now-in-early-planning amusement park indie horror game developed by yours truly, which may or may not be released some time within the next 50 years. And I promise. If it does happen, it wont be focused on merch sales. Horror/gameplay first.
Dark deception is another great horror game that is ignored by many people. It combines pacman with a very unique horror experience including monsters inspired from classics. As someone who has never seen the "when a new indie horror game gets released" image I have never laughed harder from sheer absurdity that is the stupidest thing I've ever seen but honest I'm happy it exists
calling it a game is offensive as a game would mean that time and effort was put in and just looking at this sausage roll proves that it was probably started and finished on the same day but I mean nice video
gamejams would state otherwise, some of those entries are so solid theyre reworked into a proper game after.
Id state its more the many assets that are obviously borrowed and the lackluster gameplay.
@@blindedjourneyman if this game was stated as a game jam for whatever theme it was going for (probably mascot theme lol), would it be as hated as it is? Some game jams allow you to use pre-made assets but I think most don’t. Game jams also challenge devs into trying out new things, and maybe this game was them trying that out. So maybe this wouldn’t get hate if it was in a game jam? Probably not, as it does lack design and quality.
I mean I've seen better games made and released on the same day before, this just feels like they cobbled together anything they could've found and released it without playing it or testing it

Thanks for making that statement about respecting the devs at 7:10. These devs are people too and it is not okay to harass someone just because you don't like their creation!
Edit: Giving feedback is different than harassment! It's okay to tell a creator how to improve their work. It is not okay to threaten them or spam them no matter how terrible you (or others) think their creation is :)
Separating art from artist also works when you hate the art some people act like you are insulting the developers just because you criticise the game

I played this and hated it, got to vent all my hatred and now have the strangest post-PTSD enjoyment of it. It’s shit don’t get me wrong, but I strangely love it. They should steer directions for the next chapter and actually make it a genre parody, even if that wasn’t its original intention.

Garten of banban would’ve been much better if it was a satire and parody of the mascot horror genre. Like being on the nose and purposefully bad.
Oh, you're almost there....
...it's 100% parody.
It feels like mascot and indie horror are all kind of falling into checkboxes now. Very few of them ever seem to stand out anymore…

"While one was still somewhat original" Yeah, about that... One Night at Flumpty's been a thing for quite a long time now.

Piggy was not really meant be a game, it was just the creator (minitoon) testing his skill in player tracking and scripting. He mixed Peppa Pig and horror, it accidently got popular and so in chapter 4, he really ramped it up. So no, Minitoon didn't want a cash grab, we wanted to test his skill for scripting.

this game feels made with the same intent as hello neightbor, which is just to produce content and make money out of it, but at least hello neightbor had at least someone midly skilled at making the 3d models
this game is the equivalent of the morbius of indie horror games
there is no actual effort put into it, no passion, no intent of making anything, no story to tell, you can see from a mile away that not even the developers liked even just a bit their own characters and just put them out there to make money

dont rag Piggy because it wasnt made to be popular. Roblox is full of "meme games" like how Piggy started; basically finnicky tech demos with some twinge of absurdity to them and repetitive, limited gameplay. this is cause you cant do a full AAA game level production on your game idea by yourself, and some people just want to make a fun little test build.

It honestly makes me sad to see mascot indie horror become like this. Banban is just a soulless husk that barely gets a reaction out of me - let alone a scared one - when I look at it.
