    The lighting in this interview is insane. I'd love to see a diagram. That's some next-level stuff, Zach!

    This video is highly underrated! I feel like this should have well over a million views, with how engaging it is and the interesting subject matter. But then again, I didn't know who Mark Bone was going into this. I feel like if people could be drawn into this video without knowing who Mark Bone is, you could get more exposure.

    Thanks guys, this was really helpful for me. I have a question, on 13:20, Mark talks about the "counter-shot". If you're a one-man crew, how do you get this shot? how do you make the transition without compromising the audio? thanks in advance.

      Aww man, i'm so happy this could inspire you! Mark is an INCREDIBLE FILMMAKER and such an inspirational dude. I also know the corporate grind, brother. To begin, you gotta juggle both and slowly transition rather than making a giant leap. You can even suggest to your clients about filming docs for them rather than what you're doing. They might be inclined.

    • @thisiseric
      @thisiseric 10 місяців тому

      @@ZachRamelan very true! It's a slow transition process but I am determined and I know what I want ultimately which can already be a struggle for some to figure out so I'm in a good starting place!

    Great video! Very inspiring and engaging, and so interesting to hear about your process of filming this documentary. But, at 3:00 you/Mark give a distinction between capturing two kinds of journeys: metaphysical and physical. It seems that you are a bit confused about how to use these concepts. The concept of metaphysics denotes the fundamental nature of the physical, it has nothing to do with emotions or hearts. Rather, a metaphysical "journey" would be a journey into the nature of the physical, for example by exploring questions related to the nature of the physical phenomenon of a tornado: "Does tornadoes exist?", "What is the fundamental nature of tornadoes?" or "If tornadoes are entities that exist in spacetime, what is the nature of this spacetime?", "Does a tornado have a naturally demarcated physical boundary, or is the boundary of a tornado a social construction? If the boundary of the tornado is natural, what is the nature of this boundary, at what moment does a tornado cease to exist? If the boundary is conceptually decided by social convention, are tornadoes real?" etc. It does not sound like you are trying to document any metaphysical journey within the storm chasers. Seemingly, the distinction that you try to establish is that between a mental/emotional/psychological journey and a physical journey, not a metaphysical journey. But, apart from this conceptual misunderstanding, I really enjoyed this documentation of your tornado documentary!

      This seems like a good question for @Markbone! I think the best answer I can give, is to check out Art of Documentary. They dive deeper into Metaphysical and physical journeys.

    I'm absolutely enamored by @markbone and @michaeldelmonte, along with the incredible Art of Documentary course theyve created. Being a member has been an absolute game-changer for me, and I'm genuinely excited about the upcoming course.
    Not related to docu-filmmaking, but something that struck me is their approach in how they MARKET/ADVERTISE AOD. Rather than resorting to pushy tactics, aka FOMO they've mastered the art of showcasing their product with an inviting touch. It's akin to discovering a treasure and warmly inviting others to partake in its brilliance. In an era flooded with fear-based marketing, their method stands out by elegantly conveying the value they offer, exuding both grace and substance.
    After watching this video till the end, then hearing about the course made me more excited to want to join. Anyway, thought I'll share this. Again this is just my opinion.
