I replaced my 2019 LRDM with the 2024 Performance earlier this week and can share my observations. With one exception, the assembly quality of the new car is substantially better than the old car. The new car feels a whole lot tighter than the old car ever did. I have noted 2 defects with the new car so far. The first is that there was hardly any washer fluid in the reservoir, and the second is that the under-windshield trim piece with the cool LED strip was not seated with its mating part, resulting in a 1/4" difference in height between the windshield piece and the door piece. Have tried to seat it properly by pushing it down, but no luck. Other than that, the new car just feels a lot tighter than the 2019 car ever did. Needless to say, the car really shouldn't have been delivered with these issues....but they are pretty minor. As compared to other new cars I've purchased in the last decade, this one is actually pretty good. Certainly better than my VW GTi and VW Jetta TDi, and about on par with my 2016 Prius. My earlier Subaru WRX had no obvious fit issues, but then the AC never really worked properly, and the Prius has experienced decomposing plastic trim pieces and a failed catalyst since I sold it to my sister. (at about 50k miles) By comparison, even my 2019 Model 3 has been substantially better than the Prius. While the 2024 Model 3 could have been a little better, in terms of panel gaps and such it's actually better than the 3 year old BMW M3 that I park next to at a friend's house. All in all, pretty much world class.
I’ve noticed the led light panel gap thing you’re talking about is the same on every single one I’ve seen, so I’m starting to think it’s designed that way on purpose.
Over the past 20 years, I have got 2 Subaru, 4 BMW ( 3 and 4 series) and a Tesla M3 LR 2020. Last week I got a Tesla M3 LR 2024, this latter is way better than any of my previous cars. It feels a lot tighter, no panel gap that I can see, a lot quieter, exceptional sound quality, and a ton of new features that was not available in my M3 2020. For example, automated trunk, cool seat, heated steering, backseat screen, much better tires, and so on... it is true that we must get used to the signal buttons, I would also prefer to have the left one on the side of the steering wheel and the right one on the right side of it,it would be more intuitive. Also, the horizontal reflexion across the front window is a real problem.
I agree, does feel tighter overall. Trying some 18" wheels on for winter and the car is even more comfortable and quiet. I also had very little washer fluid in mine...
I actually like the haptic buttons for the signals. I just use the little line as a guide without having to look that the top is right and bottom is left. It took literally a few days to get used to them. I’m a minimalist so the less clutter the better for me. ✌️
For the buttons, you just put your thumb on the divider line and then move up or down. Very simple. No issues going on my second week with this car. Does take some getting used to though.
Cap those buttons sometimes stick and it is cheap to save 8cents making it a button instead of the stalk. Making everything in the screen is the way they can change the prices because the mark up is insane. Elon running game on these unsuspecting bots

I've had my 2024 M3P for 4 weeks now. When you press the signal buttons do not try to stab at it with the tip of your thumb like you're doing in the video. That's the natural instinct but it doesn't work. Instead lie your entire thumb flat across the whole button area then push. You'll see it works much better than way. Took me a while to figure this out. Regarding your other issues I don't have any those in my car but do have other issues. I don't think Tesla's will ever be close to flawless like with my new Porsche and BMW cars. I just lowered my expectations and accept that they will come with issues.
The right and left button idea for the turn signals also doesn’t make sense. You would need two hands to drive vs one hand driving just having it on one side. I’ve had no issues so far. Insightful video though for things to watch out for!

Im sick of the stalkless design on my 2024 M3P and also plan getting the aftermarket stalks! Which one are you getting ? Seems like there are a few companies offering it like Hansshow and Tesstudio but I’m wondering if they are from the same company?
Your video is very informative, but.....if you push on the silver trim piece of the steering wheel, you can't expect the right turn signal to activate. You literally pushed on the trim piece, several times. If I aim to depress the "1" button on my phone, and hit the "2" button instead, I am not shocked when the number "1" doesn't appear on my screen.
The point is that while we're driving, we can't expect to hit those buttons perfectly every time. I'm putting enough pressure on the button area so that, if it was designed well, the button should depress. As an example, I'm clicking my mouse button all over the place in a 1" x 1" area and it still works perfectly. Then look at 5:10 - I'm off the mark, but getting closer until I'm now hitting the arrow directly and it won't press in - the button jams up. This is really bad design for a signal button.

Your steering wheel buttons issue is user error and failure to understand manual of arms. Just grab the steering wheel and place your thumb over the signal you want to hit. Your use of the finger tip is not required
I don't agree - look at 5:10 - I'm off the mark, but getting closer until I'm now hitting the arrow directly and it won't press in - the button jams up. This is really bad design for a signal button. @@ericjohnson1360 No, not at all - this is the best model 3 by far! Congrats!
My car came in a few days early and I took delivery late this afternoon. Great car, blown away at the driving experience, looks and quality. I may have been lucky with no gap or paint issues. It was in perfect condition. Hopefully it stays that way.
Turn signals controls are capacitive switches, not physical button switches.
From what I can tell they are both. I have a new video with carbon fiber overlays on the buttons (ua-cam.com/video/iKrh9EbVWdc/v-deo.htmlsi=W8i4n3z-Lh1r8zbc) and, for example, if you press on the microphone button, the wipers will sometimes come on.
Yeah, I noticed that reflection in the windshield when I test drove the new model 3. Annoying but probably fixable in the aftermarket. I hope Tesla takes notice and tones down the reflection and adds some tactile buttons. Looking forward to your stalk modification.
Quality control is really bad...Tesla is the only car brand that actually needs an aftermarket checklist. It's that bad...
I need those cooled seats in AZ!!!
Agreed the signal buttons are trash
Why didn’t you refuse at delivery
@rob3812 None of the problems are bad enough to refuse delivery and I wanted to find ss many issues as possible before calling service
"within spec"
Definitely it's a wrap on the b pillars! Tesla employee peeled it for me! 😅
Just lease the car and don't worry about it
Getting the hanshow stalks?
@@av_oid Yes, I am testing them now, but they are not 100%. They are in the process of updating the SW, so stay tuned
@@mmark300 I’ve been weighing up getting them. What issues are you having and how can they be updated? Is there a USB port on the stalk assembly or on the harness where it plugs into canbus and power? Thanks in advance.
@@av_oid Sometimes the blinkers wouldn't stay on long enough and it wouldn't always change into reverse or drive. Those look to be fixed, but it still won't go into Park and the high beam doesn't work like OEM.
The update was using Wechat and bluetooth connection to the stalks.
@@mmark300 thanks for the reply. Do they say they are working on the park button issue? At least update via Bluetooth is convenient.
@@av_oid Yes, they're working on it.
same problem with the right arrow 😳 just like you i thought it was me
Helped fix the problem by putting stalks back in - so much better!
Check it out here - ua-cam.com/video/8GjMgcqvdNE/v-deo.html
ha.. i got the same exact issue on passenger side mirror. got it fixed at Tesla service center. I had some minor panel gap issue that I raised, but Tesla said it was within their spec.
Good to know, thanks!
I get the annoying seat noise and thr buttons. The rest is just too much free time. Just drive thr thing
And the trim by the mirror? And the bubbles on the camera pillar?
Pretty sure your Tesla card should be revoked LOL
there is a wrap there at 2:34....
Elon must resign as CEO of Tesla
So it sounds like Tesla hasn’t improved. I wonder how long before everything starts squeaking
Had none of these issues.
Jesus Christ, these people are so incessant
This is one of many things gay people complain about. Cringy
I mean dude. U spent 40k or whatever and bought the worst rated brand right next to polestar in quality control. Its been 5 years of this and u people are still buying it and complaining? How about u get a german made car and BOOM their goes all ur problems. New Taycan albiet expensive is the best EV
Worst rated brand? According to who?
And based on sales and likelihood of buying another, these issues are hardly deal breakers.
More like buy a German car and BOOM will be my problem 😂 Seriously, I love German cars but reliability is not their forte
@@mmark300 go look at JD reliability chart rankings. Tesla and polestar at the bottom.
@@G82Watts It says right in the rankings that tesla can't be ranked, which is why it's listed at the bottom. (Note:^Brand is not rank eligible because it does not meet study award criteria.) Cmon man.
And then we'd still need to see a breakdown by model and issue type.
@@mmark300 yea it doesn't make the chart because it's so bad 😂 do u see the numbers next to tesla and polestar? They have the highest out of the lot.
@@G82Watts The numbers aren't great, but tesla is not the worst. And again, what are the issues they are finding? If they're mostly like mine, then what I like about my car far outweighs the issues
