  • My cursed thumbnails have leveled up again. As usual, feedback is appreciated and updated insights will be added to the description.
    From Titan Tuber, try laying on your back while searching for the initial feel. Gravity will help pull the vibration area into the inhaling airflow and beneficially alleviate tension in some relevant muscles.
    You can also get the initial feel for the vibration by holding throat kick then breathing inwards immediately. The clenched throat position from doing throat kick squeezes the vibration area into the airflow. Thanks to Abuzar Sid_ad for the approach!

    1:48 actually the best way to put the process of learning this sound I've heard so far. In essence all you really are doing in the beginning is messing around until you get something to vibrate, you have no idea what's vibrating but what matters is that it does.

      I couldn’t get this exact sound yet - it usually goes into a growl-like inhale sound, so it’s like the dm version of this inward bass, and I can tell that my dm inward bass is made by the false vocal cords, but, I discovered 4 types of inward bass so far, which are different, so I think I’ll eventually get the right inward bass as well, which I think is inward subharmonic bass or inward chest bass (the type of chest bass that uses the false vocal cords) tho I am not sure…

    Yooo I had a solid inward bass already but didn't realise it until you said where inward bass comes from(the location) and the "ha ha ha" thing. I thought I was doing a low pitch vocal fry but I guess I'm not and the vocal fry you feel it on top of your inner mouth, right above the back of your tongue and the inward bass, well I feel it right above my adams apple.

    • @kindreon
      @kindreon  3 роки тому +2

      Glad it could help!
      In case you're interested, if you control the vocal fry feeling at the top of your inner mouth, you can sing deep subharmonic notes by vocalizing it at certain pitch intervals. When you get it, the feeling is quite weird, like my voice just flicks into a lower note without actually vocalizing a lower note.

    Insane tutorial !

    • @kindreon
      @kindreon  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching! Saliva is normally designed to go into your stomach when you swallow, which involves a bunch of muscles in your mouth and throat. Inward bass seems to involve some of those muscles but also requires inhaling, so your body freaks out because it thinks saliva will end up in your lungs. You've got to train your body to not freak out by slowly acclimating to the movement.

    Thanks, I think I got it, if I did atleast feels like I cheated my way into learning the sound XD. One question though, other tutorials and people in general mention pain they experience when they learn this sound. I experience no pain when I get the vibration, no rashness in throat that people mentioned either. But I can definitely feel a vibration, am I doing it right?

    • @reflex2680
      @reflex2680 3 роки тому

      Also when I do the chest bass vibrating the exact same position, I feel way more vibration in the back of my mouth than my chest. However the chest bass I usually do feels like the vibration is occuring at a lower point in my throat, or there is atleast this rumble in my chest when I do it. Doing chest bass vibrating the back of mouth tongue area, doesn't actually feel like a chest bass.

    • @kindreon
      @kindreon  3 роки тому

      @@reflex2680 Congrats on getting it! I think the chest rumbling we feel is due to sound resonance or the vibration affecting how we breathe. From an anatomical perspective, there's nothing there to vibrate, so it's more likely an effect of making the sound rather than part of how you make the sound.

    Though when I do the inward bass, i feel the area vibrate around the lower end of my throat and air filling my lungs very quickly, how do I combat this?

    • @kindreon
      @kindreon  Рік тому

      Try dropping your voice box while tightening your soft palate as if you were going to do the siren vocalization during activation. You don't need to actually vocalize unless you want. The goal is to tighten the position so you can use less air without over-tightening to the point the vibration can't happen.

    • @kindreon

      It's kind of like tongue-pressure OD bass against your teeth where your lips help control the pressure. I learned it by first getting a single squeak against my front teeth, then slowly increasing the number. Afterwards you can improve consistency by practicing making the pitch go up and down. There's many good tutorials on this sound, but you need to search BeatFox chirp instead of Trung Bao bird sound since I think BeatFox invented it.

      Kindred Harvest no problem man! If you ever get a moment, the high vocalized inward bass that vocodah and King Inertia use is like the “standard” high inward bass, basically the inward version of high vocalized chest bass. However, twoh’s, while it may seem like the same thing in the explanation, ping pong po describes one additional step needed to “turn” regular high inward bass to twoh’s, which most agree sounds more dinosaur/guttural/screechy. Here’s a tutorial for both if you ever want to compare! I was just wondering how that one additional tongue positioning step “transforms” regular high inward bass to twoh’s variation ua-cam.com/video/5GpxFYE7lQc/v-deo.html

    What I get by doing this is very weird. It's neither inward bass nor vocal fry. It is inward breathing with a vibration to it. I tried asking what I am doing to a guy who knows inward bass and he doesn't know either.

      If you found the position but it's hard to hold without pushing your neck, it's likely a matter of strength and comfort. Check out the description, there's a bunch of notes on practice like laying on your back to let gravity do some of the work. Good luck!

    Damn this is really interesting, I always thought I was weird for tiling my head head a little bit to the side and hunching when doing inward bass. So basically I could do the inward bass but it sounded kinda shit so I squeezed my adam's apple region like a year ago and it sounded very gurgly, I thought that was the d-low inward bass but it's apparently not. Do you think It's a problem that I need to tilt my head to the side and also do you have any tips on getting inward bass to be more consistent and just better. I've been practicing and at it's best it's very dry and deep. Sometimes I wonder if it's to much because the more I tilt my head the tighter it sounds so it just sounds weird, I've never heard anyone do something like that with their inward bass the closest thing would be something like helium's but it's not that tight. But at it's worst like today it just sounds like shit and it sounds like a completely different inward bass, it's almost as if i'm back to where I started but this happens semi often where I temporarily lose my ability to do it well but then I somehow start doing it again. Kinda hard to explain but figured I'd comment since you seem more knowledgable than anyone I ever met on reddit or whatever. If you maybe experienced something like this or if you have any tips i'll be so grateful. This just feels like an eye opening experience I always thought I had the D-low inward bass so it feels like depressing learning that it's not what I thought it was. I just feel like I've been using a inward bass from wish or that I cheated somehow idk how to explain so yea.

    • @kindreon
      @kindreon  2 роки тому

      I think this sound is difficult because people generally have bad resolution with throat awareness. People who are talented at singing fare better, but judging from your post you might struggle here like me. Instead, I'm relatively good at coming up with abstract models under theoretical explanations then conjuring experiments to verify predictions letting me feel out what muscles need to be moved how even if I don't directly have any idea what's going on. If you have something you're good at like tech or squeaks or whatever, you can try the same rather than just following advice from tutorials like tilting your head. That said, I don't know you, so I don't feel confident giving a prescription. If you want, hop on my Discord server linked in my channel's info page and ping in #music to schedule a VC. Almost everyone I've explained it to on call has been able to learn it in ~20 minutes even if they've struggled for years but very few people actually schedule for some reason.
      If you're curious about meta-conversation, our community is mostly made of musicians and young people, so we tend to jump to intuitive explanations that may not be theoretically correct meaning the hit-miss ratio for explanations can be quite bad due to the explanation not the learner. Even as old as I am, my whistling video has similar problems in the dipole section. Thus, one tip I can give is take things with a grain of salt. Even if D-Low or Colaps claim something, I'm confident they're wrong if they contradict physics no matter how good at a sound they are. We likely have a fundamental misunderstanding about throat basses. A few experiments I came up with break explanations even by people who I know have better understanding than me like Alkmi Beats or David Larson. Good luck!

      Try focusing on getting a vibration at the back of your mouth a step behind where you'd normally uvula roll. It'll be very airy, so do everything you can to get something to catch. Most of this will be positioning the very back of your tongue. If that doesn't work, read the description. Good luck!

    When I do what I think is inward bass through my nose (might be snort bass but I can’t tell because I feel the vibration just behind my tongue but kind in my throat nor do I know how to do snort bass) it’s very airy sounding will this reduce with time or do I have to keep practicing through the mouth until then. Also in order to do it I have to take in exponentially more air then I do through my mouth and can’t hold it for anywhere near as long, same question as the first.
    For some background, I’ve been trying to get it/practicing it for at least 2 months straight (3 at the longest) plus some past time on and off for a couple weeks then giving up where I actually unlocked it but didn’t bother dealing with it at the time. Together it’s more like 5 months.

      @@lethalbbx9808 Aside from the great point Anshul made, inward vocal fry might be happening because you're trying to hit the low note using vocalization. The inward bass I show in this video isn't vocalized. It starts out as an airy buzz at the back of your mouth which you can pull into your throat as you get better. Eventually once you polish enough, it'll have vocalization properties possibly due to resonance.
