HOW TO COMPLETE A THEORY STUDY CHAPTER 2 THESIS FROM GRAND THEORY, MIDDLE RANGE THEORY, AND APPLIED THEORY
The functions of theoretical studies are:
1. Define and explain conceptually each research variable
2. Explain the relationship between research variables.
3. As a basis for formulating research hypotheses.
4. As a theoretical basis in formulating indicators of each research variable that will be used to develop research instruments.
5. As a basis for providing suggestions or solutions to problems that occur in the object of research.
Theoretical studies in research are arranged systematically starting from:
1. Grand Theory
2. Middle Range Theory
3. Applied Theory
The thing to note, in compiling a theoretical study, whenever we use other people's ideas taken from scientific journal articles or scientific books, must include the source of the citation so that our writing is not considered plagiarism and don't forget to paraphrase so that we understand what we are writing.
In the examples of theoretical studies presented in the video (student assignments), the explanation is emphasized on the order of theoretical studies according to the levels of Grand Theory, Middle Range Theory and Applied Theory. Suggestions to always write every reference source used using the help of a references manager can use Mendeley or Zotero.
