- I spent Tuesday in Carlisle, Ohio with my buddies Buckeye Freight Railin` @GY51360 @SimonsEMDProductions and @LostDepot getting all sorts of action on the rails. We ended up at 4 different locations around town, 3 of which I had never been to before!
The first 2 trains are fast CSX on the Toledo Sub. We have a mixed manifest with 3 GATX "Classroom / Training cars" in the mix headed North and a long empty auto rack headed South.
We than move over to the Norfolk Southern Dayton District and catch a long Southbound mixed manifest that has a vintage ex-Southern Railroad high hood locomotive in the consist. You don`t see these every day in a mainline train, so this was a treat to catch!
We then moved back over to the CSX Toledo Sub and got 2 South bound trains. A loaded auto rack and I 141 intermodal that was very long.
After they passed, we moved a little further North to the Union Road crossing and caught CSX I 142 intermodal headed North and the Middletown Special loaded steel coil train headed North with newly rolled steel. It was really long on this day and the engineer gave a horn salute like none other!
I also made a quick video of the old concrete milepost there with 2 different mile marks on it.
I hope you enjoy this video! Thanks for watching! - Розваги
We closed with a killer coil steel train. It had some incredibly huge coils! I love that. Thank you so much, my friend! 😀😀😀😀😀❤❤❤❤❤
I knew you would like that one!
@@1960gambit You were absolutely right! Thanks again. 😀😀😀🤎🤎🤎
The loaded auto rack train was really for being loaded! If you go back and watch it again, look Vicente right side above the train. There is a tree above the train that looks like a curly haired girl. At least it does to me. Great catch, Scott! Thank you. 🙂🙂🙂❤❤❤
I will check it out!
@@1960gambit 👍
Cool high hood Geep. As David P. Morgan once said : " The N&W diesels have high short hoods, are painted black and run long hood forward and pretend they're steam locomotives". Lots of great action with toot salutes, enjoyed it immensely. Thanks Scott!
Thanks P! hose high hoods are going the way of dinosaurs here lately. Not many of them left at all!
A very good mixed manifest to open with, Scott! It had lots of scrap metal, a load of steel beams and a lovely blue training tank car with big blue box car for a classroom. They were awesome, to say the least!! Nice length and variety on that train. Great catch, Red! 😄😄😄😄😄❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it Gary!
@1960gambit I surely did, Scott. 😀😀😀
Everything to love with this video. Top it off with the steel train & the horn salute of all horn salutes.🚂
Glad you enjoyed it Jimbo!
Thanks for a spectacular video, Scott. I enjoyed it immensely! I hope you have a fabulous weekend, and please be careful. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂❤❤❤❤❤❤😂❤
Thank you Gary! You too!
@@1960gambit You're welcome, and I'll try to. 😀😀😀
Another long, cool 😎 NS mixed mixed manifest. It was quite a great train! 😆😆😆😆❤❤❤❤
Yes it was!
@@1960gambit 👍👍👍
2 intermodals in a row with the first around 50cars longer. 🙂🙂🙂❤❤❤
Great trains today. They were not wasting anytime. Plenty of locomotives linked together. Many thanks.
Thanks Robina!
Great “filming” locations and some awesome trains! Sure love seeing the trees. And-one awesome horn SALUTE!
Thank you very much!
WOW, that high hood might be an old N & W. There aren’t many of those left, rare!!!! OUTSTANDING CATCH!🔥🔥🔥👍
It could be that, or a Southern.
A rare NS engine. And a BIG horn salute Awesome video
Thank you very much Rick!
Hi Scott, I really enjoyed this video! It was epic lots of different locations around Carlisle all of which were perfect for railfans you just go again Scott! All the trains were awesome & flying down those tracks some great mixed manifests for you & fab intermodels for me! The CSX crew on the last steel coil train were playing you all a song that horn salute was cool! Well have a great time in WV with JT & see you soon, safe journey. ❤😊👍
Glad you enjoyed it Carol! It was a good day in Carlisle for sure!
Thaaaank you for standing out there in the heat, getting us some of the most interesting combinations of freight (coil freight is still my fave having dealt w/ Olin Brass there in OH way back when), the cool mile post information, and *super* horn salute! I kinda like these new spots you found this time a little better, but that's just me. 😉 Stay cool, Scott!
Thanks Doris!
Awesome video! Mixed manifest to start, two intermodal trains next, extra nice steel coil train for last. Thank you Scott. ❤
You`re welcome Margie, have a great wekend!
Notice the “F” on the long end. N&W was one of or maybe the last hold out on steam. They apparently loved steam & kept that long hood forward for quite a while.
Another excellent video Scott and my favorite intro song lol but anyway, my friend y’all stay cool out there and don’t get overheated and as always you stay safe out there my friend and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Thanks Timmy! I always got a lot of water with me for days like this!
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in Carlisle, Ohio, I like them, they're awesome, I already uploaded the video of mine, that has the CSX M350, with the CSXT1853, New York Central, @1960gambit, Scott, thank you very much and have a wonderful week.

Thanks Jim! Yes, High Hoods are getting more scarce all the time, no doubt about it!
Good Friday morning my friend, I hope y’all have a safe trip today. Awesome video

Excellent video, Scott. Nice Horn salute!
Many thanks!
He was doing the CSX boogaloo get...
That's get the hell outta Carlyle ...
You got that right! Lol
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
The trains are always flying at Carlisle!
They sure are! I like going there, I just don`t like driving there. Not a straight shot at all. Lots of backroads and stop signs!
I just saw that Ozzy car recently. I think I saw it in Kenova because I remember showing a picture of it to someone in Kenova the other day
I see that car all the time in Glendale and Carlisle.
wonder what brought that old antique up here? the skunk road normally keeps the high hoods below Nashville (mainly around Atlanta/Chattanooga!!) for some reason much like cheapskate keeping most of the grey hoods down there!! the last i heard anything about the high hoods the skunk road still had between 35 and 70 some still roaming around!!
They actually have one in the Sharonville Yard they use for all the local switching on the Dayton District. I have caught it a couple of times and they usually have a caboose with it too. Hoping to go to Chattanooga in a couple of weeks for a few days with Jaw Tooth. We will be near the DeButts Yard and will likely see some there for sure.
I just subscribed to your channel.🎉
Hey Ricky, you won’t be disappointed. Scott has some really good videos.
Welcome!!
Thanks Timmy!
Thank you Scott
That first train was definitely not underpowered.
No it wasn`t! Lots of horses there for sure!
Are the mileage posts so the crews know if they have enough service hours to make it there? 🙂🙂
No, those are just distance reference points for the railroad. If there ever is a problem or they need to know where they are, they have n idea. I also think it may go back to the steam days too. They could time the distance between 2 mileposts and judge how fast they were going. If they made it from one milepost to the next in 60 seconds, they would be going 60MPH. If it took 2 minutes, then they were going 30 MPH for example.
@@1960gambit Thanks, Scott! 😀😀😀
What road is that at where you caught the CSX I-141 Intermodal? Looks like a good location.
That would be Fairview in Carlisle
Good made video, mr 1960 Gambit.
Good spots to watch and see trains but you say in the begin glad you are here, but i am here in the Netherlands.
In the train from NS see i a tankerrailcars from VTG a railcar builder and rental company in Hamburg Germany. Never aspect there in the U.S.A. not strange whe see here railcars from GATX in Europa.Thx for this topvideo 🚆🚆🚆👍👍💪💪👌🚆.
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
Thanks Roelof! I`ll have to keep my eyes open for those VTG cars in the future. Have a great weekend!
