    I just scored an Eastwood dual voltage gun (new) with $150 worth of colors, plugs, tape and a small toaster oven for $200 off Craigslist the other day. Also, got a mint electric house oven for free off CL a few weeks ago. Did my first batch last weekend. Wanna do a grounding rod next. Having fun. Great video. Thanks 👍

    Awesome. I’ve gat the same D/V and I put it away after the first use. It was spitting. Maybe I should rethink it. The quick color change makes it worth having another look. 👍😁

    Hey, I've been using the Eastwood gun for about a year as I learn the in's and out's of powder coating. Love the vids! So you hook the part to your grounding rod then WHERE ARE YOU HOOKING THE GROUND WIRE ON THE GUN? I'm assuming just hooking it to your ground wire somewhere???? I've been trying second clear coats and struggling with the back-ionization and starring. Using the lower voltage level. I watched your dual coating video. I see you hold a greater distance on the clear coat. HOW DO TO GET IN TIGH SPOTS WITH THE CLEAR COAT? JUST keep spraying? Problem is I think I'm getting too thick then.
    Also, any recommendations for a next level gun? I'm starting to see the limitations of the Eastwood.
    Thanks!

    I've got a simple question. How do you minimize powder spillage when filling the gun's bottle? Have you found a little scoop that works? Thanks, I've watched a lot of your videos and am having fun with my PCS-250.

    Hey guys! Love the videos. They have helped me a ton with my home set up here in Colorado.. I've noticed you at times heating the wheel to 180 to allow for easier adhesion. When this is done, Can you still vacuum the excess powder from other areas of the wheel where you do not want it? Or will these pre heating process make it too difficult to remove unwanted powder in areas?
    Appreciate any response and keep up the good work!!!

    Hi, sorry for my ignorance but wouldn`t it work if the ground clamp were attached to the wire you`re hanging the parts? I`ve never powder coated so I have no experience..

    You said you run three or four psi? I can’t even get the paint to flow out of the gun and less I have it around 15 psi. Most of the time I have to shake the powder around. By the way I have the same exact dual voltage Eastwood gun. If you have any tips for me I would appreciate it.

    Have you thought about grounding thru the booth / rack the parts hang from or at least thru the hanging wire so that you do not have a 2nd clamp blocking the part from powder bonding?

    1 thing I noticed is the psi builds up between the dual voltage and the compressor.. that’s like the only huge flaw for the price!! Glad u made a tutorial I’ve seen other you tubers talk about how it’s just a terrible gun but really it’s good for certain things!!

    • @brieflean
      @brieflean 3 роки тому +1

      Let me elaborate a little. The psi builds up in the hose causing a huge powder burst which can be annoying but I normally run it around 10-15 psi thanks for the psi tip!!

    Is there a way to make a quick disconnect for the power to the gun from the power source? When cleaning the gun it would be easier if I didn't need to take the whole gun and power supply out to blow out the gun. It would be easier If I could just disconnect the gun from the power supply.

    • @RightNowPowderCoating
      @RightNowPowderCoating  3 роки тому +1

      you mean disconnect the electrode wire? Im sure you could take it apart and figure it out, but really its not that difficult to take the cup and just blow it all out, less than 30 sec.

  • @outdoorzone
    @outdoorzone 3 роки тому +2

    Hey rocky!!! Lol jk
    How come you didn’t connect the ground to the wire above the part? So powder will still adhere on a part when you remove ground from part? Confused 😐

    • @RightNowPowderCoating
      @RightNowPowderCoating  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah if you coat the rest it rarely has any issues sticking, the wire above is positioned where the ground wire would touch part

    • @RightNowPowderCoating

      The grounding wire on the gun is to protect the gun, not to ground parts, it should always be grounded.

      @@RightNowPowderCoating So still clip the ground wire from the gun to the part or on the metal that the part is on? Along with a ground strap coming from my grounding rod? This will give better grounding for the powder to stick to the part better?

    Link to a good air regulator?
    Also, every time I go to spray the gun it spits out more powder then adjusts to the regulator Setting. Any idea why it doesn’t maintain the pressure I set it at and not push a lot more air out when I squeeze the trigger?

    • @RightNowPowderCoating
      @RightNowPowderCoating  3 роки тому +2

      amzn.to/3mD3QgV
      I would try something like that, regulate it there and run line to your gun. If your shop air is not sufficient it could lead to issues also.

      These are very simple guns so you cant do too much. I took the end deflector off because I did not like the cloud it produced. My only other suggestions would be to get a bunch of the containers so you dont have to clean them out to switch colors and to make sure you have really good air filters. Nothing is more fustrating than getting flaws in the finish due to oil or water. Good luck and have fun!
