Thanks for the review. I really like the Geo, so it sounds like I'll like the Sync as well. I'm glad someone is trying to make a stick with excellent feel. I started with wood sticks and I've been trying to find a stick with that kind of feel.
this is a great review, you're spot on with everything regarding the nexus sync and the nexus line overall. i currently use the ft5pro and it is amazing. i used my buddys sync with the exact same specs as my ft5 pro (even the height) and it was just ehh. for those who dont mind the er spine then you'll love the sync. the weight also threw me off with the sync because it felt like my old trigger 5 pro. i defenetly prefer the ft5 pro over the sync but that's just my personal preference. i just miss the original nexus 1n stick, that stick is the GOAT.
Personally, I love the shape of the Nexus (been using the 3N)! I find that it fits perfectly in the bottom hand and now makes my 2N almost unusable to me since when I try to take a shot the shaft rotates in my hand. I'm a little over 6 feet (about 183 cm), but I have small hands for my size, but the difference in my hand between my 2N and 3N is night and day, I don't know how I can use anything else.
Regarding the weird flex thing. It's super helpful for someone who is short like me and likes to use a lighter flex. For example, I like to use sticks that have an after cutting flex of 70. That means I have to find weird intermediate sticks or I am out of luck. Now I can buy a 70 flex stick cut it a bit and it is actually 70 flex. It used to be I bought 75 flex sticks cut 4 inches off and had 90+ flex sticks which are way to hard for me to shoot with. Tall (and those who are jacked) people will hardly notice the difference I think you all just need to keep an eye on which stick to buy now instead of just automatically picking your standard flex.
@@francescoqueirolo5956 yeah I dunno this is just a weird way to do it. Should have labeled the stick a 69 if it’s a 69, not a 77, but than at the top of the shaft say just kidding it’s a 69. Makes zero sense and will probably end up being a confusing issue for most players

I was looking for more 2n Pros and found a sync in my specs brand new with stickers still on it and in plastic for 175 bucks today so obviously I had to buy it. Interested to try it haha.
So glad you did that flex video before this and confirmed yet again that an 85 flex is still an 85 even after getting cut and that it's just a leverage thing that they are marketing. Would like to know more about the spine VS the super round shaft on a vapor when it comes to taking shots. It's clear you're a square shaft guy, but is super round more comfortable than the spine?
Cutting a stick down doesn't change the flex ... that remains the same. What changes is the leverage you get on the stick. So, when you cut, say, a 77 flex stick down, it's still a 77 flex stick which can "feel" more like a stiffer stick depending on how you position your hands when you shoot. But, it's still a 77 flex stick.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews haha no, that's mine. I just like to get it out there whenever flex is discussed because it's something that took me years to figure out with the "generalized" information people tend to repeat. For example, also, the choose your flex by taking your weight and dividing it in half is horrible advice. An average strength but portly player should not be using a 110 flex stick. ;)
@@mhicaoidh1 haha yeah I was like why is he telling me my exact quote I’m confused lol thank god someone else understands. I have had some comments on that one and dms! I really started to notice this when I had a sticks that I kept longer or cut down of the same stick but tried different flexes and was like what the heck this doesn’t feel like and 85 when it’s a 75 cut down and really started to get it.
I'm a CCM stick player and have been using the FT5 Pro (P29, F75) for about 4 - 5 weeks worth of practice sessions (~20 hours on ice) and it's a superb piece of gear; as always, make 100% sure you're getting the right flex as senior sticks above F70 adds significant weight for each rating step, and there's actually quite a bit of difference between feel and balance for a F70 and F85. I tried the sync during a practice session and if I were to get a Bauer stick, this would be it. Waiting for the ASV Pro stick review as I am looking to try a tacks stick (skipped on the AS4 Pro and went with the FT5 Pro).
There’s no starting point. I hate when say that someone shouldn’t use a high end stick until they have “x” skill level. It’s silly. You grow into sticks and skill and if you can afford a stick should get it because it’s far better than low end sticks and you will enjoy it more

What stick should I get the SYNC or the FT5 Pro. I used the ft4 pro last year and loved it but it was kinda inconsistent like one day my shot would feel amazing and then the next day my shot would feel off. I also could not take a slapshot with then I used a Jetspeed team stock one time and my slapper was amazing with it. I have shot with both of them in store and I both loved them. I used 55 flex P28 FT4 pro, what should I get a Sync or a Ft5 pro?
If you were struggling with the ft4 on and off the sync maybe a better option to try something new. The ft5 is just to similar to the ft4. However you have to know what you are getting into with the er spine. It’s weird for some. You could also Change flex slightly if you want to stick with ft5. I’m enjoying ccms 80 flexes when I usually use 85. Seems just right so many be jump to a 60 see if it helps. 55 is very whippy for slappers
The sync blade is very good and noticeable. The TMP doesn’t have a blade that stands out to me in that way. I’m never a puck feel guy though as I’m a shooter and not a stick handler so I prefer the tMP overall. It’s just a better stick
Love your reviews, although I'm not the guy to get a lot out of a high end stick. Picked up the alpha DX elbows on your recommendation, you're right, they're perfect, don't interfere although I maybe needed a large, the mediums are pretty tight and I don't think my arms could be much bigger than yours (its the biceps & forearms and I'm similar height 5'8).

The flex rating is stiffness of the shaft and materials this is heavily challenged based on that. The “79” to 87 on this was the same after cutting. The reason this makes so little sense is if you don’t cut the stick you need to get a 95 to have an 85? Is the stick designed for stiffness or not? Materials make the stiffness not the sticks length. Bauer is not specifying well based on this. Am I getting a 79 flex stick that’s 62 inches long or what? It’s just weird. By the way ccm does not specify that on there sticks. Completely different sticks. The sync also has 5 sides which can be bothersome to most as it’s very odd in the hands. Best to try that in store if possible
The reason it’s says it’s 87 but it’s 79 flex full length is because they measure their flex from a 60 inch length so the two extra inches are not included in the flex rating. Every company does this not just Bauer
Rustynail is correct. Industry standard for flex rating is with 60" shaft (flex is the amount of pressure in pounds it takes to bend the shaft one inch). If different companies measured differently, then flex rating would be meaningless across brands. As I mentioned in another comment, the length of the stick doesn't really alter the flex of the stick. With an 80 flex stick, shortening it 2" doesn't make it an 85, nor does lengthening it make it a 75. It's still an 80 flex shaft. What changes is the potential for more (or less) leverage which can change the perceived (by the shooter) stiffness.
