In high school, I was part of the jazz band, playing trumpet. Every year in April, the jazz band, together with the choir and dance company, put on a dinner dance event called Moonlight Serenade. For a week each year, we brought the age of jazz back, as people had a fine steak dinner, listened to the music from us and the choir, and watched the dance company perform - and then went onto the dance floor themselves.
Besides the fun as a young-in being able to experience this, and share it with other younger people, my favorite night was always the senior's night where they got a discount and special events - and you had all these people in their 80s and 90s just expressing how grateful they were to be able to experience this all again.
And gosh it is such an intoxicating feeling, as if that high school cafeteria were brought 70 years into the past. I can't wait to bring a girl to it someday. : )

POV; It’s the late 1930’s, you just ate a big delicious dinner that your soulmate made for you, and as they gaze at you with stars in their eyes, you grab their hand, and lead them into the living room. You made sure to clear out all the furniture prior to this moment, so you could finally do the thing you were looking forward to almost your whole life... dancing with the person of your dreams. You had practiced dancing with your mother, and eventually perfected it, but you didn’t worry much about that, since your partner was, er..... not the best dancer. But as you swayed together, staring into each other’s eyes, all the rest of the world seemed to melt away. You silently wished to yourself that this moment would never end, and you knew your dancing partner felt the same as both of your smiles grew. To be dancing with that person, everything leading up to that moment, was so worth it.

POV: It's 1939 and you're a young, able bodied man dancing with the love of your life one last time before you leave tomorrow morning to go fight for god, king, and country. Not knowing if you'll ever be able to have a moment like this again.

    POV :
(I wanted to try this out.)
It’s the 1940’s and as you get home from a long and stressful day you here the faint music playing from a distant window. The atmosphere is dim, yet it puts you as ease. The music echo’s softly through the empty street, so all you can do is set you’re suitcase to the side and dance alone. You dance slowly, and mostly sway around. It’s almost as if your in a trance, embracing the small amount the sun has provided for you, as night approached. It wasn’t long until night approached and as the music still continued to play, that’s when you decided to go. Grabbing your suitcase, you walked back home until the music faded away.
    There’s always tomorrow, right?

It's the 1967 and you flip through your parents records and find a small 45 rpm single with this song on it. You just confessed to the love of your life, but things didn't work out so well... She found another man and you desperately want to forget about your day. Suddenly, your childhood friend comes in and asks you how your confession went. You tell her the truth. She then gets up, gives you a hug, and you slowly start dancing the night away, while you forget about that girl who missed a damn good opportunity ( first time writing smth like this 😅)

POV: It’s the late 1980s, you just made it to the arcade to play Galaga, Frogger, etc. When you are suddenly beckoned by some old jazz from somewhere not to far; you know you would be made fun of by your friends for liking the nice tune; so you quickly slip out of the arcade and find yourself wandering around the mall confused from where the song is coming from; you then are stopped on your trail to find the Cinema awaiting you and from within the theater you can here that wonderful tune sounding like it’s playing just for you; you quickly forget why you came to the mall and run on inside to find yourself once again aimlessly wandering the halls of the theater trying to find the right door; you soon find that wonderful tune within the tiny theater room under the sign The Shining confused you enter; only to find The same movie you and friends were gonna watch later that day; you decide to turn back but decide after walking all the way here you might as well watch it; after the film had ended you meet up with your friends to watch that wonderful movie again.

I stand at your gate and the song that I sing is of moonlight
I stand and I wait for the touch of your hand in the June night
The roses are sighing a moonlight serenade
The stars are a glow and tonight how their light sets me dreaming
My love, do you know that your eyes are like stars brightly beaming?
I bring you and sing you a moonlight serenade
Let us stray till break of day in love's valley of dreams
Just you and I a summer sky, a heavenly breeze kissing the trees
So don't let me wait come to me tenderly in the June night
I stand at your gate and I sing you a song in the moonlight
A love song, my darling, a moonlight serenade
We can stay, till break of day
