I like the fact that these unreleased tracks are named what seem to be random typing. It's a very Mars Volta thing to do. It reminds me of how some stars are named numbers and letters or how Bach's compositions are cataloged as, for example, BWV-153 BWV-1084.
In concert music it was the norm to just catalogue works by the composer and they were usually named after the form of the piece, sonata, fugue, symphony, they're all just structured differently, and it wasn't about having a unique name in words about the piece. It's cool in a way cause it doesn't force you to associate any piece with a given title, it's like "piece of music n3"
Dozo yes, Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis (BWV; lit. Bach works catalogue; German: [̍ˈbax ˈvɛrkɛ fɛrˈtsaɪçnɪs]) is a catalogue of compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. It was first published in 1950, edited by Wolfgang Schmieder. The catalogue's second edition appeared in 1990. An abbreviated version of that second edition, known as BWV2a, was published in 1998.
iroveashe yes! I play classical guitar so I know exactly what you mean. Bach wrote so many works that it’s easier to catalogue all his music by numbers and abbreviations. Kind of how stars are catalogued by type and coordinates. Simply because there are so many stars it’s difficult to name every single one.
I was thinking the same thing. He said then the movie wouldn't be finished till Volta was no more. Well I guess now he can put it together. It would be awesome if their was a live show from every album on that movie.
@@maskarad3968 Yeah they're in the studio now, don't know how delayed it is with corona, but it's coming for sure, completely new sound again as well they've stated. Can't wait! 😉
@@kbkman7742 Cedric has already said they are making a new MV album, Omar's already been writing music for it, so it's definitely coming back man. Cedric already said it won't be the line up we're used to so don't expect that. But it's coming 😉
so, it's old songs, I was uber happy for a while when I though they started again but whatever... still new songs! not sure if I should laugh or cry though :/
@Jake X I always thought it was “road” but I think you’re spot on. Plus “rune” is more in line with The Mars Volta aesthetics: spooky magic and ghosts lol
I still can't hear this as an Octohedron track. That album was legitimately too... calm for this to fit. And vocally Cedric doesn't match it at all. If anything, Vocally, it sounds more Noct, and the aggressiveness of the instrumentals sound more Beldam... The only thing I can think is this was slated -maybe- for Octo, before they decided it would be a calm album.
I have to respectfully disagree. Bedlam and Octahedron were not recorded simultaneously. Bedlam was recorded in 2006 and 2007 in Ocean Studios in Hollywood and released in 2008. Octahedron was recorded in Mexico at Omar’s house in August 2008. As to where this song was recorded or what album it may have been intended for is always going to be up for debate unless someone from the band ways in on it.
@@gabe6182 yes but remember that you are speaking about Omar and Cedric this duo has music for days so who's to say the albums weren't already made from recordings of songs that didnt make it to albums before those you know what I'm saying? Just cuz the albums were recorded in and released in different years doesnt mean that the songs or versions of them before rerecorded and mastered for the album didn't already exist.
This to me, sounds like it was intended for Octahedron, just because of the lyrics that kinda speak about bad things done to someone or being very straight frwrd with someone making mistakes or something, and the music feel Octahedron as well. (just my perception)
SO GOOD this song. Starting from 2:17 is pure Bedlam
The bass at the beginning, awwww YEAH
1:27 - 1:38 lyrical line is so smooth it's so damn funky. Makes me upset that they didn't release this song at least.
It's such a beautiful groove man.
Like I haven't wanted to actually move my body to a single line that hard in a long time.
This rules. SO many of these unreleased tracks are bangers. Post tremulant Concertina and Eunuch , and Clouds/Orchestrina especially so far.

Persuasion deflowers your sympathy💚
love the pitch dives on the guitar parts
It's a crime that this song isint on the radio so others can grove to true majestic
fuck this might be one of my favorite tmv songs
i hope omar finishes that movie he talked about along time ago, the one that he started filming since day one of volta or whatever.
The guitars aren't aggressive enough for Bedlam, I'd go with Octahedron, definitely.

Still loving this tune in 2020!! Wish it was on an album!! Can't wait for their comeback album that's on the way! Guna be sick!! 😉👌🔥💙🙏
Is it happening?

?? one of them is dead and the bass player is learning to walk again. I loved tmv but I wouldn't be surprised if you never hear from them again

Bedlam
It does indeed fit the tone of Bedlam in Goliath
Octahedron
I think he says "I forgot which ruuuUUUuuune...." in the beginning

Zan Azoth there are plenty of songs on Octahedron that aren’t calm

PRIDGEN!!!
After 1:14 the following is just to sick and groovy to not be an in album!
It's so damn groovy!!
Sounds like a mix of Cryptomnesia and Noctourniquet?
holy fuck.
really feel like 2:40 to 3:33 literally
the sudden stops between lines in the chorus are weird. almost like hymns you'd hear on church organs.
Needs a different chorus, otherwise good stuff

can i download these for free anywhere?????
This song is great! Other than the chorus, it sounds out of place.
