Now this is truly what model railroading is ! 1. Correct era locomotives nicely detailed and weathered. 2. Correct train consist for each train, both passenger and freight. 3. Correct running speed. 4. No constant whistle blowing throughout the train trip. 5. Beautifull and acurate sceanery. PEACE and PROPS to Gary Schrader, he is what i aim to be when i grow up. Up to O scale that is : )
Cameron9242008 very glad you pointed out the whistle blowing out, main reason I stray from watching American train videos is the obsession with yanking the cord is unbelievable.
As I am not a fan of diesel I like how there are just a couple to give realism. The only ever Diesel locomotives I ever bought we’re Lionels postwar ones because they are actually more enjoyable then Legacy
@btomimatsucunard Actually, this isn't my layout. I just visited and shot some video. If memory serves, Gary told me the Daylight locomotives are from Precision Scale, and the cars are Pecos River Brass. Gary has added a number of details to both, including full interiors and lights in the cars.
It is amazing how many grown men spend vast sums to build these elaborate toy train sets. Still way Better than sitting in Pubs, or beating the wife and kids.
The layout is O scale standard gauge (i.e., not Proto:48) so technically it's not fine scale. In terms of details, weathering, and operation, it's top notch.
wow., really neat n cool got a kick out of seeing two G S-? in full daylight, and the pair of AC's wow, the Santa Fe power looked really good, keep up on this one, makes me want to build a warehouse size structure n git after it
If your going to go O scale 2 rail is the ONLY way to go !!!!! wow WOW!!!!! those steamer look sweet ( REAL ) are some of them brass and how do you get the nice weathered gray look to them ..
Presentation of a train layout of time and money, spent on train items, camera equipment, and posting on UA-cam. Having background chatter and people in the view, is not for keeping a captive audience.
Thank you Gary for saying the video is O scale and it is O scale because you're using 2 rail track. Lots of guys say my O scale layout and they're running on 3 rails I understand the running stock can be O scale but to me you've got to have that Real 2 rail Track. Great video thank you.
Why ? Because electric motor powered reproductions of what in Reality were steam powered locomotives makes the two rail track real even though nothing else on a toy train layout can be ? Wake Up, lose the silly nonsense bias against 3 rail toy trains, most toy train enthusiasts actually PREFER a three rail toy track.
The most realistic and beautiful of all scales. True O scale 2 rail.As it should be.
I travel the country buying trains and seeing layouts, this is one of the finest I have seen. Thanks for posting!
Gary's work is absolutely magnificent. The work on some of his models is absolutely stunning.

Loooooove Gary's O scale layout.

All I can say is WOW! That is a truly amazing train layout!
i wish i could see this in person
where did you get the O scale daylight loco's and cars???
Daylight locos are overland models and the daylight is a heavily modified and re done pecos river brass morning daylight set.

All steam, too. I like that although a few upstart diesels were in the yard.
Beautiful trains and a beautiful layout!

Oh my GOD! What a stable of engines!, and they're all WEATHERED!
Fascinating but is all it does is a circle?
The main line is basically a loop. Gary doesn't have enough space for a more elaborate route.
awesome, indeed!

sweet
Doesn't it use the finer wheels though?
He has a Finescale layout right?

You must have a very understanding wife, or none at all
AWESOME! Looks Fantastic... very realistic!!!
Definitely Train Eye Candy!!! :-)
So big.

This was probably filmed at one of Gary’s open houses and since it’s not his layout, he can’t really tell others to be quiet
Отлично!!!
Lucky
