When she said “Black Narcissist” she’s referring to herself, like her dark depressive side that she’s tries to break free from by dancing and partying. She explained this after people were confused. It makes sense because she uses colors to display the different parts of her mind. The line before it is “white gown sociopath”

in the last song quoting “got this black narcissist off my back, she couldn’t care less and i never cared more” she’s referring to her own
persona/soul, wbk that lana has serious mental health problems, so that’s how she sees a part of herself that haunts her to this day
also what she means by hope can be dangerous, especially for a woman like herself, who has lived through many ups and downs, these lyrics convey a sense of desperation and emptiness, which may suggest that she places a great deal of importance on maintaining hope, despite the risk, she also acknowledges the struggles with her depression, and the power of hope, the song is a reminder that even in our lowest moments, we should never give up on hope.

So, the part you left on the last song many fans interpret(like me) as being a metaphor for herself. The Black narcissist being her shadow, the things she doesn't want to show, her vulnerability, altogether her shadow. And 'shaking her ass' would be masking all of that with a wild life and being someone she's not, following standards that are set for her and other young women to be fun, and put out, and be less frigid.
It's and easy lyric to misinterpret, but anyone can thing whatever they want about it.

“black narcissist” is a metaphor/she means her state of mind, her depression and mental health that follows her around…that dark side of herself. Black used to describe the mood, a color you would associate with depression and depression can be associated with narcissistic tendencies. People who judge mental health often say that you might be too self involved/narcissistic tendencies.

Thank you for this amazing reaction. I have become such a Lana Stan that I’ve gone down such a deep rabbit hole that I’m watching hour long random reaction videos! Ha. That’s how good she is and it’s great to see someone hear it for the first time. As many have said, yeah, “black narcissist” is not referring to a black person at all. Lana is so well read and educated she often references literature and other cultural things. I think she is shouting out the 1947 classic film “Black Narcissus.” And she is talking about herself on top of that. So it definitely has nothing to do with race. It was really interesting that the one song you didn’t really vibe with was “Doin’ Time” which is a cover of the 90s song by Sublime and the only song I think on the album that she didn’t write. I definitely want to hear you dig deeper into some of these lyrics. I agree her phrasing vocal performance is one of the stronger elements of Lana, and the production by Jack Antonoff including some of the incredible changes is amazing but her songwriting is what makes her an absolute legend at this point. It’s funny you say she should try rapping, definitely do a reaction to the entire BORN TO DIE album because it has a LOT or hip hop influence. And of course on LUST FOR LIFE she does tracks with ASAP Rocky and The Weeknd. You won’t find a better album than NFR but I would love to see what you think of BORN TO DIE. Or the song “White Dress” which I think you will die at a certain moment because she has an iconic and insane vocal phrasing moment that you will flip out over. More lana :)

Lana once explained on an interview why she named the album and the opening track Norman F Rockwell.
Norman Rockwell was a painter/illustrator very well known during the 20th century for portraying the American way of life. Sometimes with very idealistic images, sometimes with a bit critical tones towards the American way.
During the process of writing and recording the album, Lana started to notice how those songs were painting very vivid scenes of her own feelings and personal life, and how they could relate to how she saw where the American way was setting during that time (2017-2019). Lana kinda explains the name of this album as an affirmation “Norman F****** Rockwell!” in a sense of how impressed she was by the fact that one century later his portraits are very accurate of the idealistic side of the American way but also the critical side of it. A lot of people notice even in the songs that seem to be about relationships, that this album has very political undertones, those undertones becoming very explicit during the greatest. One exemple can be the song F*** it I Love You, where she sings “you moved to California but it’s just a state of mind, it turns out everywhere you go you take yourself that’s not a lie”, which is her way of saying “New York and California are very idealized places by literally everyone, both those places can be a sh*tty hole sometimes, that’s why I left New York, that’s why I see all my insecurities even in a place I idealized so much like California”.

Metri, the producer on 'Mirrorball', Jack Antonoff, produced 11 of these tracks. He started off with Taylor and his career has snowballed to so SO many talented artists.
Also, "Doing Time/Summertime" is a cover she did of a Sublime song. That's why the arrangement doesn't feel like her. She did as a track for a documentary on the band. I agree that it shouldn't have been put on the album and breaks the flow of her original tracks. 👏

    Hi !
I am an hardcore lana stan, she is truly amazing.
she grew up in Lake Placid, NY as elizabeth grant on 21 june 1985. At 15,she had an alc0h°l addictioin. Her mother (we don't like her!!) hit her, and her father never defended her (she sings it on wildfire wildflower, Blue banisters). She isso so mysterious. Behind every lyric, there's a reason behind it. Mesmerizing.
    discography: 2012-...
    disclaimer:
-she released before 20212 multiple albums (sirens, AKA lizzy grant,...) under other names than lana,
    BORN TO DIE/PARADISE - 2012
    ULTRAVIOLENCE - 2014
    HONEYMOON - 2015
    LUST FOR LIFE - 2017
    NFR - 2019
VIOLET BENT BACKWARDS OVER THE GRASS - 2020 (poetry book)
CHEMTRAILS OVER THE COUNTRY CLUB - 2021
    BLUE BANISTERS - 2021
DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE4S A TUNNEL UNDER OCEAN BLVD - 2023
    LASSO - 2024
not confirmed yet, it's a country album according to her
Norman Rockwell is an american painter , he was popular in the '60-'70. she reffers to many 70's culture in this album.
I thinkyou would like her album from 2017: "Lust for life", it has an ethereal cinematic vibe. ASAP ROCKY and playboy carti feature on it. Her voice is tender on it. There are some trap beats like doin time on that album, so idk if you'll like based on your reaction
