The Rover P6 did NOT replace the Rover P5. They were manufactured concurrently, the P5 from 1959 to 1974 and the P6 from 1964 to 1976.

I am realy starting to hate these AI UA-cam Channels. What about a human reading a script, is it so hard? 44 seconds in and I'm gone.

I was working at a garage whilst studying design, back in the early 70s. We had lots of interesting cars in the showroom , including a Lancia Zagato, Jensen Interceptor and an E-Type. Lucky enough to drive them all, there was only one car I wanted to take home with me and that was a two tone grey P5 Coupe. A beautiful car made all the more desirable by the name in the logbook: Matt Busby.

Who wrote this script. The Rover P6 was introduced in 1963 to replace the Rover P4 that was introduced in the late 1940's. It's main rivals in the UK were Jaguar, Humber (a truly forgotten car manufacture who's car were of high quality, as was the P5 and also the BMC Vanden Plas 4 Litre. Rover was taken over by Leyland Motors, which in turn was told by the Wilson government to merge with the ailing BMC to form British Leyland. If this hadn't happened the British motor manufacturing might still exist, we might of still had Triumph, Rover and Leyland Trucks. Also if the Rootes Group were allowed to build their factory in Coventry instead of Linwood in Scotland, we might still had Hillman, Humber, SInger and Sunbeam, as well as Commer and Karrier commercial vehicles. Please get the fact right. When the P5/P5B were built the British Pound was worth alot more the US Dollar, which did not help matters.

My dad had a P5B (auto - I think they all were?) white with black Everflex roof +Rostyle wheels. It was like driving around in a sitting room! But the burbling V8 was intoxicating and she could certainly lift her skirt 🤣

My father had a Wolseley 6/110 MK2 I'd rather have one like it than a P5 or P5B. The P5 was good on the banger tracks I believe.

the P5B coupe was a good looking car in the metal (that sloping rear roofline with black E/roof + R/wheels) but the Wolseley 6 auto he got later (in deep burgundy red) was a much better family car

P5 coupe is a beautiful car in its own right. Definitely has a place in my dream garage. Ripe for a Chip Foose type make over too.

Well, I remember the Rover well. With that Buick V8 and creamy automatic transmission it was utterly gorgeous. My neighbours had one and it was a joy to travel in. It felt very special, and the coupe version was definitely the one to have. Better than any spivvy Jaguar.

My brother in law here in Australia had a P5B manual. We assume it had been a UK police vehicle but he converted it to an auto. It was great car.

The P5 was Margaret Thatcher's official car, ad she refused to use a then-new SD-1...
Also, it is not much forgotten in the UK.
Nor the SM is really forgotten in France.

At one time, tbere wss a luxurious area of Brooklyn
in the 1950's and early 60's
We had TWO Facel Vegas and Two Dual Ghia's in our area!!! And that Facel, if you

From 1950 my dad had 7 Rover cars. Also a P5. How much did it cost ? My dad had a building business (The Netherlands) and it cost as much as building a complete house. The last Rover a 3500 I sold for an antique price in the 80s.

Says the same thing about Bristol, Facel and Iso. Why advertise when your production is so low. He seems to confuse the company, Iso, with a particular model, the Rivolta, and talks about it over footage of the Iso Grifo. “The 1960s saw various economic fluctuations including the oil crisis in 1973.” Well that wasn’t in the 1960s was it. About sums up the quality of this video.

At 5:24 the two pieces of chrome with a gap is kind of unsettling. It looks like it was parked for a few minutes in New York City and some of the chrome was repatriated. Plus they look like they are at different heights on the body. It would have looked better with one line of chrome from front to back.
