    Hi , very useful video on SBP, I think this is the best I’ve seen for my learning , even better then what I’ve seen on the toonboom site , some of them say its just like harmony ( lol for someone who is a beginner , I was wondering who harmony was lol) ..a quick question my friend ! ( I’m just starting to learn SBP22, to make animatics specifically ) is it possible to add psd files of storyboards I’ve drawn on procreate , into sbp22 and then create an animatic with that … also do you have any other paid classes , where I could do a project (with audio ) under your guidance? Please let me. An advance thanks for all your good work 😊

      To answer your question, yes you can import .psd files to your sbp file!! Just go file > import > Images as Layers
      Or you can import .psd files using "Images as Scenes" and each .psd file imported will appear as a new scene in your timeline. I hope that helps, I'm sorry I replied so late! I didn't get a notification about your comment!!

      @@SirKackington Gasp! Really? Well, thank you kindly Orange. I'm grateful for any time you can spare on any of these! *grabs 4 years of notes*
      1) Okay. So when you do the Animatic Editing mode, how do you fill in that space with a panel?
      2) How do I delete panels without having my other panels move out of sync in the timeline?
      3) Do I do a construction pass on my boards, or am I supposed to go from a sketch layer to a polished pass?
      4) Is there a way to pin one layer to another for when I'm transforming? Cause sometimes I want an object to move with another object (or their colored layer), but can't seem to attach it in any other way outside of merging the layers.
      5) How long does each panel normally take to clean? I’m averaging 7-14 minutes. But I'm also probably drawing rather simple stiff designs.
      6)should everything on the sketch layer count as one layer? cause sometimes a character leaves a scene, and thus when I have to do a polished layer, not everything gets numbered the same.
      7)What sort of layout on your keyboard do you have for shortcuts, or would recommend? cause I'm running out of single digits for my left hand (can't seem to be able to create a 2 keystroke shortcut either strangely)

      @@foxmetro1
      1. Animatic editing is like other editing software; like premiere pro. You can hover over the edge of a panel and your cursor will turn into that red bracket looking icon. You can shorten or lengthen your panels that way. You can also click anywhere on the timeline in this mode and create a new panel.
      2. You can stop your panels from being disrupted like this when animatic editing mode is turned on! I haven't found another way to do this, but just turning it on to delete a panel and turning it back off again when you're done works fine.
      3. That really just depends on you as an artist or your project!! Do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. Boards are meant to convey your story, and as long as your boards are clear and readable, your boards are done imho.
      4. You can group layers, much like you can in photoshop! I don't have SBPro open right this second, but I'm pretty sure you can group layers (using the little yellow file folder icon underneath the layers) and move them together. If I'm wrong I'll come back to this reply and edit it haha.
      5. Again that really just depends on you as an artist!! Pros I've seen do lectures usually estimate that it takes 10-20 minutes to clean a single panel. I don't usually time myself (maybe I should?) because the productions I've been on are more focused on clarity of the drawings rather than the drawing being tied down.
      6. I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but usually when I do it I'll doodle everything on one layer or two (one for the background and one for the characters) and since SBPro goes alphabetically, I'll rename my sketch layers to random things so when I start to clean up my clean layers will be "A, B, C" etc. I hope that answers your question.
      7. Again it really depends on you! I've got a weird layout but it's based on the keys I use most. Try to think about the tools you personally need/use the most and try to focus on getting them on keys that are easy to reach. For example, I step forward and backwards through panels constantly, so my step backwards key is A and my step forward key is D. The select tool is another one I use a lot, and the default key for it is S so I kept it that way.
      I hope that this helps, and don't hesitate to ask any other questions if you have them!

      @@SirKackington Oh Wow! That really helps a lot!
      1)Hmmm. Putting in a new panel in the vacant space seems to nudge the later panels. But I guess I'm supposed to pull out the neighboring panels, and empty out the layers.
      2)Woo!
      3) Ah! Good to know.
      4) You mean the Group Selected Layers? That appears to work for one panel, but gets real funky when spreading the layer motion.
      5) Say whaaaa?! There's a difference between being tied down and clarity? I thought they were interchangeable/went hand in hand?
      6) It does, and your rad for figuring out my word logic puzzle.
      7) That's fair.
      Well gosh dang. Thanks a ton for all that. Can't believe the weight that's off my shoulders now. I'll have to subscribe to keep knowing what a great artist looks like. And will be sure to write down some fresh queries once they hit me ;3

    you have many layers in some panels do you create them on each panel? i'm trying to learn how to do all the basic functions but "apply to all selected panels at the same time", is SBP built for this kind of work flow?

    • @SirKackington
      @SirKackington  Рік тому

      Yes, if you want to apply something to each panel, you have to have the layer with the correct layer name on all the panels you've selected.

    Would you happen to know why my camera resets every panel? I'm trying to animate like a 2 frame run cycle where the camera starts with a close up then pans out to a full shot.
    On top of that is there any way to tween a layer so it moves across panels?

    • @SirKackington
      @SirKackington  5 місяців тому

      Are you making new scenes instead of adding panels to a single scene? If you're on the timeline view, you can check which scene a panel belongs to by checking the info there in the bottom left. Here's some documentation on how to create more than one panel per scene:
      docs.toonboom.com/help/storyboard-pro-6/storyboard/structure/create-panel.html
      I hope that helps! Sorry for the late reply!!
      EDIT: Also sorry I just saw you asked about tweening-- check out this video by ToastyGlow: ua-cam.com/video/pGlwzGtEKnA/v-deo.htmlsi=CtKSMltxC_oQvkMS&t=158 This video taught me this trick! It's super useful and probably the best way to accomplish what you're trying to do.

    Sorry for bothering you again kackington - but d you know a solution to this problem? I need to export the Bitmap with Sequence, Scene and Panel Number in Burn in but It will only burn in Scene and Panel but not the Sequence Number. I tried finding a solution in various forums. I can't find any. Is there a way to display the Sequence Number too? For Example: Sequene 01 - Scene 01 - Panel 01

    • @SirKackington
      @SirKackington  Рік тому +1

      Hey you're not bothering me at all!! Huh, this is a really good question-- I'm looking into it now and I don't see a solution either... I've never actually used SBP's "new sequence" function before. On every show I've worked on, one SBP file is dedicated to a sequence, since doing an entire episode in one file would be bad practice to say the least haha.
      I'm seeing the problem you're running into, though-- it looks like when you make a "new sequence" the burn in prints "scene 01 - panel 01" over again, leading to multiple scene 01s in your video. I don't think there's a solution to this, which is definitely a pain, but what I'd recommend is just sticking to scenes. If you'd like to divide up your sequences, like I mentioned, put them into separate files. All the scenes within the file could be named scene 100, 101, 102... and then the scenes in sequence 2 could be named 200, 201, 202... that way, when you're done with your project, you can stitch all the videos together. You could even do that all within one file-- just rename the sequences accordingly! I'm sorry I can't seem to find an outright solution, but I hope this work around helps you!!
