Hey man, thank you for the video. So I'm growing oysters myself, and I noticed that you put the mycelium close to the wall of the bag. Other people on UA-cam tend to mix it very thoroughly with the straw. But I tried your technique and it works really well. Do you know the explanation for this? Why does it seem to colonize faster (or at least fruit faster) when the spawn is put at the wall of the bag?
I used scissors to cut off the fully grown ones, and waited for the smaller/younger ones to grow out more. Instead of pulling and taking all of them at the same time. I got a higher yield that way.
@@carolburnett8372I don't cut the whole clump. I cut individual ones - only the big ones. And then leave the smaller ones to grow. I suspect, in this instance, they are mainly concerned about mass production. They only want alot of mushrooms within a small time frame (one day of picking after grow-out). It's usually a timed marketing thing.

Soaking it in lime pastuerizes the straw (generally there's no need to totally sterilize oyster mushroom substrate as oyster mycelium grows so rampantly that it outcompetes contamination)
Great technique for oyster mushrooms! I never thought of doing it that way, so I've got something else to try. One thing I wondered about is what kind of plastic bags did you use (and where would I find them). This is not a clear plastic trash bag but a clear plastic bag which is widely used by Asian people for various purposes with a size of around 18x35 cm or 20 x35 cm.
