Great review sir! Rivaling the great Matthew Jensen himself I'd say. I have a custom Sinosword on order myself and you've made me realize how much more customization that I could've asked for. Thanks!
Thanks buddy, glad to..that is why I make these vids so detailed and long...lol...no brother there is only one Matthew in sword reviews....stick around for an interview I got coming up on blade talk with Matthew in July
Beautiful Blade! And thanks for the message for the #22aday, definitely a message worth spreading. Thanks for subscribing to my channel, and congrats on getting to 600 on yours. Big step! Can't wait for more content in the future.
On that Kobuse sword, check the tsuka core for cracks (or shims) or stretching of the mekugi pin holes (or damage to the pins). Sounds like the harmonics of the blade translated too much impact into the hilt and rattled things loose. If the blade itself is not cracked or bent, the fittings can be repaired/replaced.
No Michael its alot further problem enriched than that..lol..the nakago is wrongly sized for the Habaki, sepa, tsuba...the pieces while fixed in place have right and left play...I have a guy in CA. working on it for me as the blade is wonderful...getting it re built
You really scored big on that Samegawa. That tsuka looks amazing. To get that for no cost is really something. I’m impressed, and glad for you, and like it a lot!
Yes they did really well by me so far after all my tests are done I'll see if the fit and finish has been improved so far I would say yes then did really well...love the blade...not perfect but good
@@JoeSteel1 the blade looks cool. I’m the original through hardened fanboy here, but yeah, your blade looks really flashy and cool for sure. I do love the broadness and geometry that you requested. I ordered a similar blade from Van several months ago. He told me he was having trouble getting such a wide saya made, but then cranked yours out pretty quick so I think he personally made sure you received some special attention. Which is good. He needs to keep his customers happy. He is a good dude.
Thanks meg...but that's my job..im a cinematographer...Photographer by trade..belive me I actually hold back sometimes...thats about the only thing I do well..lol...appreciate the word of confidence meg!!
This makes sense. I know I mentioned the 1911 pistols before. When they put tactical rails on them and trijicon sights, I call that a 1911 style pistol. The old looking ones built these days are the GI model. I know pistols and swords are like apples and zucchini but it must be known that the basic shape doesn't make it original style.
Beautiful sword! It’s definitely the history behind the katana that appeals to me… that and their ability to cut the shit outta stuff LOL. Amazing video as always brother. Have an amazing weekend.
I couldn't see you live last night was waking up early this morning. My last name is Spanish and is Castle in English. Be seeing you on the next live stream.
I'm two months into waiting for my custom sinosword, on my form it showed that I asked for just ray skin panels but enquired as to how much it was for the full wrap which was only 28 USD extra and personally i think its worth it and I spoke to Van there and paid the extra to change my order but I'm still a little concerned it might not come with the full wrap and unless I take it apart it might be hard to spot, but from what I hear the customer service is fairly spot on and accurate production with the custom orders so hopefully I get everything as requested, i went for a green ito, saya, and natural brass tsuba with a brownish sageo and brown horn with the full wrap (hopefully) and copper seppa and habaki, the blade is T10 with cosmetic polish and geometric bo-hi etc, all that is just my personal tastes as far as the looks go but I think it will look pretty spectacular compared to most of my other blades.. If i'm feeling inspired enough I'll make a little video review about it in a month or so depending on when it arrives, very stoked to check it out. Have a good one :)
Thanks for the input my fiend and please be so kind to like & sub my channel(if you haven't already)...you chose all good options, no worries if u have an email saying Full warp samegawa you'll get it...3 months is the norm. Awesome video and I love the sword my brother! I am sorry I hav not watched much of your vids it is hard to keep up with so many subs; now I love the Japanese sword , not passionate but I have a great respect for that sword and I was wondering what is you opinion on the Shingunto type 98?
Gunto type 98, I believe was a classic WW2 design, a beautiful sword...are you looking at a recreation or an original? just make sure its a reputable dealer and it's well put together and it's a faithful replica as the original is a beautiful piece...no worries AB. I always appreciate your support !! and yes I understand it's 230am and I finally sitting down to catch up on videos...peace out brother
It does a tad...but doesn't change the overall beauty of the blade...never said it was perfect...at a certain point when your investment is 300 or less, one needs to close there eyes to certain imperfections now if that problem was discovered in a citadel or evolution blade that would be a larger issue..
@@JoeSteel1 I didn't mean to criticize, I'm only pointing it out because run off hamon can be considered a potential functional heat treat issue more than an aesthetic one. I'm not sure how much this particular flaw may affect this blade but maybe do any cutting with extra caution just to be on the safe side
@@joshuamarlan1277 No I hear you buddy, no offense taken at all..appreciate the comment....im aware of the possibility...but that's why I'm doing a three part review to show, cut then test...thanks 😉

Without sounding like an ass, if a Japanese master swordmaker moved to America and continued making swords in the traditional Japanese way with all of the traditional Japanese materials, wouldn't it still be a Japanese sword and not a Japanese style even though it wasn't made in Japan?
That is a fantastic question D. my response would be this...its not only the swordsmith, it's the polisher who's job is more important than the smith, it's the craftsmen that creates the furniture, it's the metal workers that create the finishing pieces and embellishments and the smiths place of work is a shrine....its more of traditional and spiritual to them...its the iron sand used to smelth tamahagani from mountains of Japan....SO if you can move all of that into Illinois than I would say maybe...but most traditionalist would say no....there is a culture the Nihonto is built around more than just the masters...excellent topic of conversation my friend
@@JoeSteel1 Joe, what a great answer. That is true. I was thinking after reading his question the answer was yes, but your response changed my mind in a jiffy. Good answer.
@@JoeSteel1 So as we know, Japan is an Island. If a guy in Okinawa was a master Katana maker in Japan and had to take a boat to work every day, decided to open his own forge across the water with the same supplies, then its a true Japanese sword not made on mainland Japan? The only reason I ask is because I trained for the American Tae Kwon Do fighting team from a Korean master who escaped his country. In the states you can go to Jim Bobs Tae Kwon Do and learn Korean style, but My master taught true Korean arts here.
Brother I don't disagree with you....I think the product is as good as the hands, hearts and passion of the crafter or in this case the crafters...not the place...but I still give respect...its a conversation we can have in person....very interesting 😉
