That last comment about taking the weight off directors and producers...that so applies to the business world too. It was the same feeling I had of a weight lifting off my shoulders when I had found and recruited or promoted the right person.
@@Supermanjonny96 you’re right not making money at first but with it making 180 million which is only 20 mill off of doubling the budget which I think would be incentivize enough to make number 2
@@ramaladingdong4998 if they shot the movie on a smaller budget. It would make the money back. But it would just have to be good to make more than it would. I don’t think Hugh Jackman would be interested in it because the first one did so poorly but I’m on board if they make a new one.
Neighbours has proven to be a good launch pad, it's done it for other actors. Guy Pearce, Chris and Liam Hemsworth, Margot Robbie, Russel Crowe, Kylie Minogue.
He didn't say that playing a role in Neighbours is a bad decision, though. He said that at the time he was offered a role on Neighbours that he was happy he invested in more training, which is very different to the point you've presented.
So Hugh had the choice of two years on neighbours or three years acting at WAAPA and he chose to go to the acting course trusting that he could still find work after. Big risk - if only he had good looks that could help him in being cast in roles once he came out of acting school as well.
Yeah, and the movie itself was actually really good. It kinda suffered from low advertising or something. Never once saw a trailer for it, just went to the movie at random and was kinda blow away
@@Novastar.SaberCombat Successful people make their own luck. Hugh was feted by Feige during the interview process for the wolverine role. Feige invited Hugh to dinner and personally drove him to the airport (from another Jackman interview). When you are consistently one of the top choices for roles, and liked and respected by the hiring community, probabiility suggests you will get your fair share of good roles. Hugh was already on his way to a successful and (to him) a very satisfying career. Wolverine was icing on the cake.
That advice about feeling internally like you deserve it is absolutely on point.
It will also crush you harder if you don’t get it. That’s the quiet part.
I absolutely loved him in Paperback Hero.
I clicked on this thinking it's gonna be yet again, accepting The Wolverine role but wow! He's got some great advice for other actors.
Josh!!!! These clips are incredible. What a career you've had

emotional intelligence on point!
Man is dapper.
Hey josh.
I've been following your interviews for a long time and you are one of the best out there. On point yet entertainment🎉😊
I like how he said, "you don't know," knowing someone would not know.
Can we get a van helsing 2 ? No one ever asks him about that movie
It wasn’t successful at the time financially. They won’t do it unless someone is serious about it. I like that movie too.

No one talks about Swordfish either, and that was one heck of a good movie tbh
Because it’s ass

Whatever decision lead him to being in front of Halle Berry in Swordfish.... that was the right decision

Professor Logan
Art!
what a jack man
Did anyone else think he was going to say "My best decision of my career was probably auditioning for the role of Wolverine"
No, because he wasn't the first choice. Hugh got LUCKY. 💪😎✌️ Lucky breaks are everything.

Everybody thought that. Hence the video title
@@Novastar.SaberCombat he didn’t get lucky. He’s talented and had established that before that film. He was on Broadway - look it up.

Where's this interview from?
The internet.
I think Josh Horowitz podcast Happy Sad Confused
I really love him. A nice hair cut, likely for a movie of a period piece. A little sad to him finally look a little older.
You guys have aged backwards
