As a Clevelander, MGK was notorious. He would go around and cause mayhem. Getting banned from South Park Mall (North Royalton) for having his fans causing a ruckus. This was when he was a VERY minor local celeb.
I was/am a rap fan but his antics turned me off.
Due to my job, I had known a few people that were friends/friends of friends/tangibly close to him and throughout the years they only had nice things to say about him.
I was dubious to say the least.
Then one day, maybe 6 years ago, he comes in (with 7-8 others) my job (bartender/bar manager of a gentlemen club) (He had just finished filming a music video down the road). At this point only me and the floor host (Steve (bouncer)) know who he is.
I welcome him (knowing his past I had preconceived notions, but I give EVERYONE the benefit of doubt), he orders drinks (shots of Patron) and hands me a CC. I ask for ID, and unlike some celebs (Kellen Winslow Jr, you scumbag) he said, "Of course".
He sat and talked with me for 30 mins (and we drank copious amounts of Patron) paid for everyone's drinks (customers and enterainers) and thank me.
After that day, I dont see MGK, I see the name on his CC and Drivers License...Colson Baker.
5/7 would drink Patron again with him

It's almost like he was happy for once being in someone else's skin...kinda deep, but I think that says a lot about his persona. I didn't think I liked him, but he's a good guy that probably just needs some therapy. We all need that.
He has said he put on a persona growing up and in his early 20s to cope with reality and his own insecurities. It’s kinda sad that a lot of people and tabloids only see him as that “cocky” guy he was in his 20s when in reality he’s super sweet and funny. I’m glad more people see it. He’s in therapy and has been working a lot on himself these last years.
