I really love your videos! I admire your work ethic and your ability to do all kinds of different kinds projects. Because this video is older you may know this already but I thought extra info wouldn't hurt. I've been a woodworker for many years and you have gotten some great results in less than ideal conditions. However, I have two pointers if I may. 1. A wood joints strength comes mainly from the gluing and clamping of the two flas turfaces. I noticed you only put glue into the dowel holes and none on the mating surfaces, also no clamps. You will get a stronger joint with more glue and clamping pressure. Also, glue to unfinished wood, finish will act as a resist. 2. That Japanese Pull Saw is very handy and versitile. The two different teeth patterns are for two different kinds of cuts. The larger teeth are for ripping (cutting along the grain/length of a board). The smaller teeth are for cross cuts (cutting across the grain). Hope this helps. Love your content!
I have been watching all your videos since the beginning and I have to admit that at first I wasn't too sure about your ability to carry on with all the task required to fix that boat. But now I see that you have learn a lot and that you are getting better and better at it. Congrats and good luck with the rest. René from Quebec.
I wish your videos were longer, so addictive and enjoyable to see all the good work you're doing, by the way I've been watching all your videos from the beginning till now, bravo, well done.
Can't wait to see you refinish the exterior doors and frames. Your doing a great job with what you have...it's a learning experience. Love your videos.
I really enjoy watching your channel. I know nothing about boats, but I love motorcycles and I love working on stuff and fixing things on my own and I really admire the way you take on projects and find creative solutions on your own - it's also a lot of fun seeing the way the boat has transformed from the earliest videos where you got it out of dry dock and painstakingly cleaned it up - it really is turning out great. Keep making the vids and I will keep watching you! Happy 2022!
Here is a tip: when making your own dowels from a long piece of wood, take a pair of pliars and use the part of the jaws designed to grasp nuts etc, to dig long, shallow grooves along the length of the wood. These grooves mean the dowel doesn't force much or all of the glue out of the joint when you tap it into the hole to unite the two parts of the joint. More glue means a stronger joint. When you buy pre-made dowels, they have these grooves for this reason.
Hey buddy. I admire your ability to solve different tasks in a good way, after having had and lived in a boat for 8 years, I know that certain qualities are required if you can not hire craftsmen for different jobs that will be really expensive. Continue with your fine Job. From Lasse
Very nice work. It seems that you often work twice as hard as you have to but in the end you accomplish what you need and this is all that is important.
Great job. Custom shelving is so hard especially the first time you try. The next time you do it the self will take 20% less time and be 20% better. The first few times are the hardest.
I've been watching from the beginning, really enjoyed the progress. I've received good ideas for myself, from your creativity on ceres projects. Keep sending 👍
nice work, that shelf will last longer than you will, and the quality going into unseen areas speaks volumes about your overall build. So many of these skills translate to other media too, for example, you can use these same skills to build a wooden dashboard for some classic car. Who wouldn't want a teak dashboard in an old Austin Healey?
The steel shelf is really looking great. From a strength point-of-view, the shelf sitting on the vertical legs is actually stronger because of how the grain in the legs is continuous down to the bottom angle irons. So in a sense you built it stronger this way based on the material you were/are using. I have similar components like you have there in our fifth wheel and they continue to work flawlessly after 2 years of use.
nope, those cross beams are attached through one piece of pine dowel and they're horizontal so the whole strength of the carcass comes down to those single pine dowels.
Hi. Mach weiter so.
Looks a little chilly there with snow on the pontoon. Nice work m8, still can't see the mistake you said you made. Your goin pretty well, keep up the good work. Thanks, you and yours stay safe and well eh!
Consider investing in one or more corner clamps. This will help you position and hold your pieces firm while you drill thru for dowels - and for assembly (gluing or screwing). They are fairly inexpensive.
You have quite the setup! I am a little envious of your own dock space / work area. I enjoy living on board wedged in between my neighbors in the center of Rotterdam, but would prefer a little more room to work.
Good videos. Your doing well. Tip, maybe watch some cabinetry videos for future work, (maybe you are). Also, you have built a large void behind your electronics. That could be a good place for a top access cubby. After all, space is always a premium on a vessel.
Looks pretty, but I'm curious how your going to get it together with all the parts mounted, and all the wires connected, particularly how you will be able to get in to maintain or add to the system later, I would have made the front teak panel should be hinged with a latch, maybe i'll learn something from you?
Ain't nothing like monkeying around. When I spend a lot of time on the water and then get to shore I feel a little wobbly for a few days. Does this happen to you since you live on your boat? I really like your videos and your productive music in the background. And most importantly it's not loud. You've come along way.
Interesting use of the dowel for the joins. Wandering if you would show the outside framing for the sliding door and the slide mechanisms as we are about to add a wooden frame to replace the canvas cover on the boat. Also would it be posable for you to find the part name /number for the lock and handles please. stay safe.
Very entertaining as always but there an old saying here in the UK, measure twice cut once, if you just slow down a bit and think things through you might stop making the same mistakes every week.
Putting the horizontal beams (of the Victron stand) on top of the legs would not have been an improvement: You have a plywood as base for the Victron, and this plate rests on the 4 legs. The horizontal beams just serve to keep the distance betrween the legs. Besides: I really admire your talents! You can do electrics, hydraulics, woodwork, and -- to a degree -- steelwork. That's great!
Hi!
their is no denying you made a solid box, but you are on a boat, that stuff weights too much, you want to cut down on weight as much as possible, esspecially uneven distrubuted weight!. every kilo you add, will make your boat drink more gasoline, and also lower it in the water!.
just as a heads up, you need be far more careful working with high amperage dc than the ac side, ac has inherent safety that dc lacks, hence its use in domestic situations, your arc welder is a low voltage high current dc source, I will leave the rest to your imagination!

That white paint looks great!
Excellent work and projects.
Great job.
You have become quite a craftsman. I'm learning a lot watching your videos of you learning as you go.
Very good pro next video coming fast
Love it! 👍🏻👍🏻 Cheers from Savannah, Ga
Well done! It’s all a learning experience
Love your video's, always look forward to them.
Very nice work, I enjoy your explanation and thought process.
Getting the job done without having the perfect tools, is how you get really damn good at getting it done.
Can't wait to see you refinish the exterior doors and frames. Your doing a great job with what you have...it's a learning experience. Love your videos.

Ottimo lavoro!! È tra i miei canali preferiti su UA-cam 👍

Really good workmanship, the shelf will be supported by the oak pillars so no worries 👍
Nice router would help.
Glad you glean good ideas
Hello in just found and binged all your videos great work.
The best to protect wood is not paint, just oil ;-)
You are starting to get really good at this boat refurb thing. Respect!!
Please make Longer videos.
I've been watching from the beginning, really enjoyed the progress. I've received good ideas for myself, from your creativity on ceres projects. Keep sending 👍
That teak wood with the oil on it really looks awesome ! I wouldn't mind seeing more of that........👍
Very good Job!!

Amazing
nice job well done
Nice - looks like a retro stereo :-)
Very nice. Also I believe the saw blade design is called a silky saw

Ich mag diese Klasse von Yachten. Ich warte diese Yachten in Berlin.
You have quite the setup! I am a little envious of your own dock space / work area. I enjoy living on board wedged in between my neighbors in the center of Rotterdam, but would prefer a little more room to work.
Nice Bro I like that Japanese saw I might get one
I’d love to restore an old steel yacht.
Good videos. Your doing well.

For woodworking joints may I recommend a pocket hole jig will make joing wood faster and easier.

I always criticise the one percent, never mind the perfection.
Get some bar clamps and clamp the dowel frames together while they dry You will get a much tighter fit or joint
Hi, Nice work so far! With that little mistake cutting the wrong sized whole, could you flip the board and have the other side facing the front?
Measure twice. Cut once.
Ain't nothing like monkeying around. When I spend a lot of time on the water and then get to shore I feel a little wobbly for a few days. Does this happen to you since you live on your boat? I really like your videos and your productive music in the background. And most importantly it's not loud. You've come along way.
Nicely done - but I do wonder why you did not just bolt the Victron to the metal frame you established?
Take a shot of Jägermeister every time her says 'robust'.
Interesting use of the dowel for the joins. You realize you drilled through the dowel pins when you added the horizontal leg?
Very entertaining as always but there an old saying here in the UK, measure twice cut once, if you just slow down a bit and think things through you might stop making the same mistakes every week.
Are you gonna pull the boat out of the water for the winter?
💪😎👍

0:58 hey dude idk if you found a solution to hold those shelves in place, but I’d use right angle brackets that screw into the wood.
you are using every machine ..What is you main job...Good jop...
Short video. Want more!
I hope you thought about air circulation.
I'm a monkey too! very funny.
👍
Why do you work so close to the water’s edge?
😎👍👍
