Hey trev, i appreciate this man, im more a visual learner and this really helped me out. I was so lost and confuse about the stcw and mmc book but now i understand what i need to do. Ima look for a community college to help me with my stcw classes.
Yo bro just want to say iv been watching ur vids for maybe 2yr and hesitating to take the risk but I guess it’s time to try it out…May God grant you abundant wealth for helping everyone out and my self with all these vids.
I’m currently working on a towboat on the rivers. I would much rather be on the ships. Y’all living better than us out here. We make decent money but we work 6 hours on 6 off barely get enough sleep out here. It’s not really worth it. Seem like it’s better perks working on a ship.
Bro! Youre video actually made me excited to travel the world! Changing my pov of just being stuck on a ship in the middle of the ocean. I'm excited to voyage God's creation & see these different countries.. & visit my girl in Philippines hehe
I'm in Michigan and would like to work on the lakes as well! What union are you going to be with? I would like to be siu so I could go to the oceans later as well.
@@joshuamosley7145 I'm new too! I think Interlake is the steel workers union which I have no idea if they do anything on the oceans or rivers? That's why someday I was hoping to find a great lakes company that uses siu, that way I could hopefully bounce between the lakes, oceans, and rivers and not have to change unions
Great video! I really appreciate the insights you’ve shared about becoming a merchant marine. I’m curious if you’ve come across or know of any American citizens living abroad-say, in the Philippines or elsewhere-who work as merchant marines. I’m wondering how they manage things like coming back to the U.S. to join a ship for their 120 days (or whatever the schedule might be). Would love to hear if you have any experience with this or know someone who has done it! Also, definitely interested in the video you mentioned about getting a job in this field. Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing your knowledge!
❤️❤️❤️ good information 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I got everything thing Already about to join the union! But how do I find the JOBS? Also, it would be Great if you could do a checklist on what to PACK? What you need and what you don’t need, what would make boat life a bit easier! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thank you! ❤️

What’s up tr3 iv finnally got a massage saying my mmc book is on the way but want to know is it better to go threw that route or siu to make more money ? currently working a factory job so as long as I’m making more than factory I’m good 💪
not far. first thing no one mentioned is that the coast guard controls everything. they will tell you what you qualify for and what you have to do. navy time in the deck department is an easy qualify.
How do you compare someone going to Bluewater vs SIU? When you say someone not going to school will be behind (not knowing port/starboard, green/red light) is “school” SIU or are you referring to bluewater as well and other training like it?
Bluewater is more like a training facility.. they help you get your credentials to go inside of your MMC ( so basic lifeboat , first aid , CPR , water survival) / SIU Is more like a actual school where you learn about a ship , how it operates, things like that & it’s take a bit of time to complete vs. Bluewater which is 3 weeks
@@DreadMaximus good question. Not really honestly, your work we’ll speak for itself, people from Bluewater work in the SIU . & I’ve worked with some that are non-union .. people go because it’s quick easy & they have no problem getting hired or joining a union
@@Tr3TV2022 so you’re automatically part of a union (hence the name). Where as someone from BW for example would be behind in the perks of union membership. Thank you for taking to time to reply to all my questions. I’ve tried going over all of your videos.
Honestly No , the wait list might be so long that that’s the soonest that you can go the school, in the meantime tho you could work for ACL & just quit right before it’s time to go to school
I tried everything I know to do and talked to about a half dozen different people. The wait list is so long there is a slim chance of getting called. Usually if they do call, they give you 24 hours to report. So if you are serious, be ready. I have been ready and have had my bags packed since June 2024 and I'm going in Jan 2025.
TR3 I AM A RETIRED ARMY VETERAN OF 22YEARS I HAD MY HIP REPLACE OVER A YEAR AGO I AM CLEARED BY THE DOCTORS TO GO BACK TO WORK I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING ON W/ THE MERCHANT MARINES IN 2O25
Yup. I applied March 2024 and go in Jan 2025. The people that applied a few weeks before me are already going in. I hit the backlog at the beginning. I heard people that were applying in August 2024 being told Dec 2025 at the earliest. I think they're going to stop taking applications soon. They can't book 2 years out. That is rough!

how do I fulfill the process as a Canadian citizen
