Phantom Lord was the band's original name back when they were playing a more standard Heavy Metal before switching to Thrash. Check out the live version with Dave Mustaine of Megadeth wherever you got time.
Imagine hearing this back in 1983, thrash was not a household word and this was underground music. Definately, a gamechanger in the music sphere. I was 18 when this came out and was the shock and awe I needed. Some friends couldn't get thus music back then, but this resonated my attitutude and soul at the time.
*Sees like/dislike ratio* “I love democracy” Killer reaction dude! I was the same way when I heard it for the first time. Definitely my favorite song on the album.
Yep that's my FAVOURITE SONG from this album especially because of crazy riffs and solos, really good lyrics, and the melodic INTERLUDE (OMG, this part is just E V E R Y T H I N G ) For me, 6:26-6:32 always sounds like the beginning of the crazy solo from ONE
The " clean occult part " is so mustaine sounding, its like seeds of Megadeth too. A bit like some songs of Deep Purple stormbringer where you have like future Whitesnake and Rainbow in the same song
After Death Magnetic album tbere is Beyond Magnetic EP. Into it , there are interesting songs, for example "Just a Bullet Away". The MetallicA albums are Master Pieces, and for me, Kill'em All is the best. 18 years old they had, incredible. And The Four Horsemen is my favourite. (I say for your reference, to compare; because probably you only listened one time each song, more or less, and me, a lot of times , lol) Phantom Lord is a song they often played in concerts. They had a particular predilection to play it. MetallicA, they always chosen their own way, they played to enjoy themselves mainly. This is a privilege in the music sector.
I was maybe 10 or 11 when I bought Kill Em' All on cassette in 1992 and it scared the hell out of me, but I was drawn to it. Most of what I had was just a copy of a tape, but I had he actual artwork and would spend hours looking it over and it was like listening to a horror movie....then I discovered Slayer.
Aww man, how can you like this better than Whiplash?! I feel so betrayed. 😭 I mean, drink a cup or two of coffee, turn on Whiplash, and you can do anything (like scrubbing the pan that you made BBQ pork ribs in the night before like I just did 😁). Whiplash baby! Joking aside, I love your Metallica reactions. Keep’em coming!
@@whatitdodave ya but thats the studio version, i think you would love to hear them play this song live, especially from that concert, i would also recommend checking out Fuel, live from Nimes or Mexico city, the studio verson of fuel is alright, but its much heavier and faster when played live. :D
Written by Dave Mustaine. Same goes for Jump in the Fire, Metal Militia and The Four Horsemen. The latter original written as The Mechanix. A much faster version. After Metallica fired Mustaine they changed the lyrics and recorded it in a slower version. The Mechanix are featured on Megsdeth's debut Killing is my business and business is good. In my opinion the first three Metallica albums rocks. After Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets they started getting to mainstream and I lost interest in their albums. I have And Justice for All and Metallica (the Black album). The mixing of the bass on the first one are really bad and the Metallica album are not bad but they got to mainstream. Everybody who normally didn't like them suddenly had the album
No Remorse would have to be my next pick off of this album. Either that or Jump in the Fire

Phantom Lord and No Remorse are the two best on that album.
Huh? Phantom Lord was one of James' bands while he was in high school.
@Shane Culliton Yes. He helped create the band with Hugh Tanner after moving in with his older brother David.
Motorbreath is so sick tho
The Four Horsemen is the best on the album though
@@shaneculliton9975 nah, it just reminds of the mechanix, a better song
It's so underrated, this song, I'm glad you liked it.

I grew up with that. "It is amazing the info you get in just listening to the sound."...
Awesome video, sir. Keep on rocking.
He did the thing with his hand that everyone does with the guitar breakdown. I swear physical movement in relation to music is a universal language.
its funnier to know how its actually played and watch ppl do random stuff for some reason

“I love democracy”
Killer reaction dude! I was the same way when I heard it for the first time. Definitely my favorite song on the album.
This is my favorite METALLICA album
Eddie?
Awesome! Mines RTL but looove this one too!
18-19 years old drunken guys doing their stuff! Legendary! GOAT!
This is what I loved about their first album. It was so frantic. It's what drew me to thrash.
A gritty, raw ,aggressive album. Really good to charge the batteries.
One of the most underrated songs
This the song that got me in to metal back in '92 .I was only 5
Dave's reaction to the transitions is priceless.. I had the same look on my face when I heard it for the first time
whoa! this is one Metallica song I haven't heard before! thanks for sharing Dave! Great reaction!
So good to see someone doing this one finally, underrated song
Listening to this while driving down a highway is a heavenly feeling.
This was one of my son's favorite bands.
The interlude is priceless one of the best interludes ever of metallica and then come back with that speed jam
Facts bro! That interlude is absolutely fire!!!!! 🤘🤘
HOWDY FROM NEW ENGLAND....THE FOUR HORSEMAN IS ANOTHER BANGER!!!

Please do No Remorse off of the same album
Love this matchlessly epic masterpiece song. Pure reaction. Thanks.
Phantom lord is a kick in the teeth for sure. Add this and Spit out the Bone to your cardio routine. Great reaction as always.
Great reaction, Dave! I completely forgot how epic this song is.
My favorite song and Metallica album
You need to listen to Cliff's bass solo "pulling teeth" on this album
Your smooth calm voice always puts me to sleep before I can ever get to the reviews!!!
I still listen to the album regularly, love it!!!

This is why we call this OG Metallica

3rd Favorite song off the album but it will never be like jump in the fire🔥
Good call Phantom Lord is a ripper - a precursor to MoP - and that switch up beat is at the start of Holy Wars
I don't think you did No Remorse but I recommend it
Four Horsemen is my fav of all the albums
Hell yeah, great song. Definitely react to Hit the Lights
I love your reactions bro! LOL! The Four Horsemen is the best in my opinion song from this album!
motorbreath is pretty goddamn fantastic
At there best 🔥
Them Solos ...
Omg

You should check out "Prince Charming" from their ReLoad album!
Why haven't You reacted to something from Hardwired to self destruct album by Metallica ? It is huge material for You :)
This guy rules, man! If you like Metallica, I'll get in the trenches and fight the bad guys with ya brotha!
Let's go.
"Shut up and turn it up" - wise words.

Do Metallica - Hate Train from the Beyond Magnetic, you'll love it!
Musical amphetamines. A drug free high.

I would love for you to experience the Metallica song, Trapped under ice, BUT i want you to check out the 2009 Live Mexico city version. :)
Trapped under ice is actually already done 😀

Hey Dave! Can we get some more Sam Robson? You loved his cover of The Plagues, you should really check out Deliver Us!
Tomorrow is nothing but acapella uploads!
@@whatitdodave awesome! Looking forward to it!
do No Remorse next time!
By far the best song on Kill 'Em All. In my opinion it is also the most Thrashy song MetallicA ever created as well.
If you want to react to something else off kill em all you should definitely do No Remorse and Whiplash

Metallica - phantom lord :motorhead meet GBH
Mercyful fate in the middle
Cliff Burton. Study up. 👊👊💀🍻🚬
Metallica were teenagers when they wrote this album
The "Fall to your kneeeeeeeeeeeeeees" ending is fkin epic, though the song is the worst on the album IMO, it's still great.
Cap its the worst that goes to metal militia
