Sobering... going on 5 years next May 5 2020 in my biz. I been patient about profits and more focus on building my community, because they say it take 5 years to create a brand. Sincere thanks for this video, keeping my nose to the grind stone for the next 9 months... Super sincere thanks I needed to hear this, watching again again again again again again and again.
*Pat, I literally got goosebumps.* I know exactly what you mean. People tell you to do this and that, that their ways and methods are better, that they know more than renowned wise men but at the end of the day, I don't care about words anymore. I just tell them "We'll see, time will tell."
time doesn't bother Me so much, I haven't watched time for over a decade. not having a day filled with doing things does bother Me! in relation to the topic, time currently is an enemy. simply, straight up, profound and considerate as always, thank You.
today, I don't feel time was my enemy. it is such a nice feeling to remember how I once felt so long ago! been looking forward feeling this way again for near a decade.
I am 35, never sold even a pencil in my life, been an employee throughout, now planning on starting a business. You keep me motivated n grounded at the same time.
As said anyone can work 16 hours a day, 80 hours a week etc, but who the hell even wants that life, or lack of life. Time is important, and we all only have a limited amount of time before we die, make the most of it. Work smart, not hard.
Welp, you can work hard and still have a life. When you work that many hours you tend to choose more wisely what you do with your off hours instead of squandering a bunch of it watching Netflix or “living” by being at happy hour several times a week. Think about it.. We have 168 hours per week. - 56 hours of sleep (8 hours per night) - 80 hours of work - 7 hours commuting to and from work = 25 hours ( which is roughly 3.5 hours every day available). Now some days you will not have 3 hours for yourself but if you’re sticking to 80 for the week, you might have 6 hours per day a couple days in a row. When you are that busy, you buy time. Meaning you pay people for stuff that don’t matter so you can do the things that actually do matter, like spend undivided QUALITY time with your family etc etc, NOT mowing the yard or washing your own car, cleaning your house, changing your own oil etc etc. Lastly, an employee typically doesn’t understand this life because they spend 35 of the 40 hours they work. Thinking about Friday... meaning every single hour feels like work. When you own your business or have equity in one, every bit of effort feels good. When you have a long productive day, you rest your head feeling GREAT about that day. It’s a GOOD TIRED! It’s the sense that you got closer to some of your actual goals and you LOVE THE WORK!
@@robluna193 If your idea of a life is 3.5 hours per day and you're happy with that, then that's great. No 1 size fits all. I understand where you are coming from, I totally get it. I have owned my own business and felt like there is not enough hours in a day. Depending on what line of business you're in, and other factors will depend how much time it requires from you. Depending where you are in life and what stage of your life, will depend what you want from a business. Will a 21yr old be willing to do 80 hours a week to chase a dream, probably. Then look at someone further on in life say a 60yr old, would they be wanting to work 80 hours a week? Absolutely not I imagine. No advice is wrong advice, it just depends where you are in life and what you want from it.
@@ajwysopal Please, don't feel bad for me. I sold the company and made some good money from it. I had it for 11 years and wanted to try something new. I am in the process of starting one, maybe two companies in the next 6 months. Work smart my friend, not hard ;)
Thank you for your insight sir. I've been binge watching your content anytime I'm on Uber or just doing house work and it's really inspired me to change my mindset and up my game. Very solid message there Pat! I believe working long hours (60 +) should lead to some productive results, yet it also depends on 2 further things to add on: - What industry is the entrepreneur/intrapreneur in? - WHAT EXACTLY constitutes as 'work' to the individual? The same IT or tech entrepreneur's weekly workload to build their start-up in Silicon Valley will be MUCH different to the work duration and duties of a video editor, freelancer or marketer on projects. Even if you don't make it to the top, there is nothing more that will satisfy you or raise your self esteem then by hard work and displaying superior work ethics. It is especially gratifying, when you see others emulate you, and you know that you have influenced the next work force. Not all will be the boss, but that does not mean that not all should strive to be one. If you have the time, read Desiderata, short, but insightful, and possible life changing.

Great video - Love this Patrick! For me building my first company to 500 staff was via 14/16 hours a day for 5 years.. compared to big companies whose staff worked 9-5pm. People often ask me how to get started with nothing and I always say your biggest asset is time. Do the extra hours the other guys with something are not willing to do and do it over time. I am also 40 and I feel Like I am 21 and still feel like I just started in business...So everyone has time you right Patrick!

So what you’re saying so that I understand you clearly because I have worked 80+ hours a week for 2 1/2 years straight building. My first business is if you work 80+ hours a week for 40 years and you’re starting at 30 years old when you finally do decide to slow down if you do then it’s all gonna be worth it because you will enjoyed the 40 years that you put into it. You will enjoy the suits the watches, the house, the cars, your family I can see how that would be a great and enjoyable life, especially beings, that we know that wealth more often than not goes away within one or two generations past your death, I can see how that would absolutely be worth doing.
