What a respectful interviewer. He read out a quote that the three recurring themes to Banshees music are sex love and death. That is probably true of Severin’s lyrics. I would also add that childhood, madness and hatred of repression are also key lyrical themes for Banshees.
Rose was very respectful and inquisitive about the band, at a time when American media wasn't that interested. I'll never understand why they weren't asked to perform on SNL at this time (or any other time, for that matter). Sioux and Severin look gorgeous here. I wonder if Charlie had already "picked" his "Angels" by this time?
the Banshees should have been on SNL, probably around Tinderbox when they broke into the American market. I think they were on Joan River's talk show about that time.

I remember seeing Siouxsie & The Banshees at the Hammersmith Odeon in the mid 1980's and she performed a two night stint there and a friend and I went on the second night where she performed on a stool with a bandaged knee so I assume she injured it the night before, still a great concert and never forgot it.
Despite any inhibitions people may have about Charlie Rose, I found him to be cordial and respectful during this entire interview. I'll bet he drove home listening to Cities in Dust that day.

Quite agree. Revisiting Siouxsie and The Banshees in late 2020 and finding all kinds of things I didn't see/know back in the day. Siouxsie was/is so erudite, pragmatic, humorous, and of course, talented. (Too bad about Charlie Rose, he truly was a good interviewer.)

The Banshees were too original to make a movie about. I hate those biopic anyway. If you want to know about them listen to the records and resd marc paytress' book. One of the great things about the Banshees is that they never overdid the publicity. They just did what they did and didnt care if anyone liked it or not.

Well they didn't quite make it to 1996. But half of 1995 is still very impressive. And if you count the 7 Year Itch tour which lasted a year, you can say the band was around for 20 years. Now we can only hope that the spellbinding song "Love Crime" is not Siouxsie's final offering to the world.
I absolutely HOPE that "Love Crime" is the start of something new and remarkable. IF that (sadly) ends up being her last work...what a hell of a last tale it was.
I was a Siouxie wanna be in' 91 when I was in the front row of one of her concerts. I was crying the entire time. She saw me and she starred at me for a few seconds; Like I was from Mars! I heard her interviewed later where she said she never understood the 'wanna' be' thing. And it made me laugh out loud when she says here in '86 that she hopes that copying her fashion it's a 'passing thing' for the girls.
