Cliff was the brains behind this album, he introduced the band to music theory. That’s why the songs feel more structured and linear, unlike the thrashing and almost chaotic feeling of Kill em All. Sure the lyrics were written mostly by James and Lars, but cliff brought the sound for lack of a better term. I wouldn’t give the bass being mostly in the background any thoughts, cliff probably did that himself.
@@Shank5ter this is kind of what I wonder as well. Cliff being further back let him play his wizardry and not feel like he is distracting from the feel of the whole song. It would be something a humble person would do, but with a good ear or technology pulling his bass up allows us to hear how cliff sang along with James, slammed with Lars, and danced around the frets with Kirk, all while filling the bottom and holding that rhythm. OOOhhhhh, Magistral !!!!!!!! El nivel de esta partitura y composición, es una obra de arte... con esta remasterización con BAJO balanceado, se puede apreciar la perfección de esta composición... El mejor tema de METALLICA.
The Metallica with Cliff wasnt on fire like some say, they got struck by lightning and were more than energized. These guys came up with some of the best shit ever and they did have lightning running through their fingers. IF they didnt, Cliff certainly did.
Just thanks man. I have played bass since like 12 or something. Had some success as a bass player. Cliff was allways my hero! Awesome to hear him under PaPa Heff's magic!!!!!
After listening several times, I have realised the bass track on Ktulu is a cover. If you listen to the original for 10 years straight, and then this, you can still hear the original bass far, far below, as the cover is not 100% identical. The tone is different too. Essentially, a new bass track has been recorded and then plastered onto the original song. I had my hopes up, but I should have known. The original bass track for the song seems to be lost forever and thus a remix is impossible. I say all this as someone who has breathed this song for a decade, desperate to uncover all of the secrets of the bass solo below. My accusation (not aimed at anyone in particular) is not unfounded.
This album was the first CD I had growing up, this version is perfect, I swear the breakdown in fight fire with fire reminds me of the original tetris theme..
Wow! This breathed new life into this album. Whenever I feel like listening to RTL, I’ll just click on this video instead 😊…. (Coming from a bassist) … I don’t know why it’s almost a normal thing for the bass not to be heard in Metallica albums (except for Kill em all, Black album, and Load+Reload)

Thanks dude!!! The way each song goes to the next it means that the full album is actually ONE long song, ONE perfect Cliff's masterpiece, it came from my heart and he is always with us!!
Absofokinlutely!
@@orion3910 Cliff Burton was and is Metallica to me and my brain, thank you for this, cheers!
YESSSS MANNN
This is amazing...have always wondered why, no matter what stereo, speakers etc... I could never hear Cliff on this album.Even when Cd's finally came out. This is awesome to hear him in full, deep, sub sonic glory ! Thank you !
Though this is NOT Cliff playing, expecially in Ktuluh
@@marc___zkz this is cliff listen to the isolated bass tracks
I could always hear cliff on this album, depends what song tho
Idk why people keep claiming all of a sudden they couldn’t hear Cliff on the original recordings. He was ALWAYS PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR, the ONLY album that lacks proper bass is AJFA.
With decent headphones and a ear for bass you can hear him. especially on Fade to black.
The bridge in Ride The Lightning (7:07) is f'ing beautiful. This is what the other members couldn't hear at the time
damn that Ride the lightning intro!!!🤘
This is great! RIP Cliff
Burton was original.. in sound, in attitude, in look... long sleeve jackets, and 70s jeans... was really rebel...
OOOhhhhh, Magistral !!!!!!!!
El nivel de esta partitura y composición, es una obra de arte... con esta remasterización con BAJO balanceado, se puede apreciar la perfección de esta composición... El mejor tema de METALLICA.
The transitions are so smooth tho
40 YEARS OF THE BEST ALBUM EVER RIP CLIFF!!!!!!!!!!
The Metallica with Cliff wasnt on fire like some say, they got struck by lightning and were more than energized. These guys came up with some of the best shit ever and they did have lightning running through their fingers. IF they didnt, Cliff certainly did.
The transitions are so....
Amazing
This is absolutely brilliant. We thank you. ... 🙏
Damn, during the guitar solo in Escape, you can really hear it. LOVE
This is awesome!
Brruuuutallllllll !!!!!!:....Ride The Lightning..... The Best.......Burton !!.. Incredible...
Cliff in heaven like
"I can't FUCKING SLEEP, LOWER THE VOLUME"
Just thanks man. I have played bass since like 12 or something. Had some success as a bass player. Cliff was allways my hero! Awesome to hear him under PaPa Heff's magic!!!!!
Sorry just saying a long time coming!!!
The bass sounds just about right to me.
THIS IS THE BEST CONTENT ON UA-cam THANK YOU Orion i salute you sir big love
Thanks man!! hugs from Brasil 💚
Thanks for sharing this masterpiece with us bro, peace!
Thank u for making this incredible tribute to Cliff - Cliff 'em All!🤘
On Call of Katulu this is how the album should have sounded with Cliff playing the lead and everyone else playing rhythm.

The Call of ktulu is totally insane!!, OMG!!!, I shed tears of emotion.
tears in my eyes dear friend. we need The Complete Garage Days with that bass. Thanks for this.
R.I.P idol "cliff burton"
Damn dude! I love this mix with Cliffs bass up.. it is so awesome💪
I never heard the bass on this album this well. Thanks man
The Metallica With Cliff Burton Was very unique music that even they couldnt seem to do again. Yeah everyone misses this guy a lot, even the band did.
Burton eas a really really badass bassist , great musician, gone too soon ....sigh... now is a legend....
This album was the first CD I had growing up, this version is perfect, I swear the breakdown in fight fire with fire reminds me of the original tetris theme..
Gracias, gracias, gracias y gracias. Amigo, esto es increíble 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Wow! This breathed new life into this album. Whenever I feel like listening to RTL, I’ll just click on this video instead 😊…. (Coming from a bassist)
… I don’t know why it’s almost a normal thing for the bass not to be heard in Metallica albums (except for Kill em all, Black album, and Load+Reload)
Woww, The Call of Ktulu, just woww... 🤘🏽⚡⚡ Damn shame how they buried him in the mix on the original version... In respect of his legacy they should remaster it with him turned up like this #ijs
How quiet they made Cliff on this record is absolutely fucking criminal
WOW... just wow
