Thanks so very much, the late Earl Glasgow is my late Mom’s nephew. I was hoping you would’ve driven through the different roads off the main road in Society Hill. Maybe next time. I truly appreciate this wonderful footage. Blessings from Lititz, Pennsylvania.

Thanks for the tour! There has been a lot of construction at Lodge since I was a student ‘66-71. It would be fun to see a video with some of the interiors. I live in Hawaii, but I hope to make the next on-island reunion.
The school you visited after Lodge was Codrington High School, a girls boarding school back when I was a student. There was a spring fed swimming pool at the Seminary where the Lodge swim team trained. I think is was near the car park where you turned around. Our team captain’s son George Bovell got a bronze medal at the Athens Olympics in ‘04 in the individual medley swimming for T&T.

My heart is bless to see this video. when I was a teenager I used to hear a lot about this school and that it was the highest educational school in Barbados but I never saw it before. Also Codrington College I never saw so much of it than the wall. Very great video! Your videos are educational and I love them.. Thank you for making it

I really enjoy these trips around Barbados.
Giving the time and date really gives you a sense of being there, I was there in St. John’s once before in 1974.
As I mentioned on other videos I’m English my wife is from St. Vincent and when we met in 1971 I said to her would you like to go back and live in SVG and she said no but I would live in Barbados.

I have been too Barbados on several occasions and it is definitely one of the top Caribbean destinations, the inhabitants are generally friendly and I have enjoyed driving around the place, although I haven’t been back since 2000.

Great video on St. John. Thank you. I do have relatives in that Parish. I’ve been to the Parish Church, which is beautiful, and visited the Prime Minister’s grave. Martin’s Bay with the steep hills. The houses are a little too close to the road. Somewhat scary.😮 appreciate you and your son for sharing. Blessings.

Good afternoon! It is indeed a pleasure for me to be able to accompany you and your son on these drives, through the parishes of Barbados. Thank you for the invitation!
I hope your worst fear was not realized, after dropping into that pothole during the last drive.
Keep up the good work! It is a wealth of information, which for me manifest in nostalgia .

Thank you for the trip, very informative, seeing parts of my homeland that I haven’t visited before being from St.Michael and now living in TO🇨🇦. Went to Martin’s Bay on my last visit, had great food at the restaurant there, (the blue building) if you had made a turn to the right instead of going left where you ended. Another great video ❤️❤🇨🇦

Please note there is no St.Martin’s Bay in Barbados.
It is Martin’s Bay in the parish of St. John…do not add “Saint” in front. (There is St. Martin’s which is in the parish of St. Philip)

41.00 was that a descendent of the “red legs”, the Barbados white underclass.

    • @annlewis7685
      @annlewis7685 10 днів тому +1

The people you called the 'red legs' are the Irish and Scottish of UK descendants who were enslaved and shipped to Barbados by the English (Crownwell) in 19th century; , they were fighting for independence from England. (That's why you have Northern and Southern Ireland). One area is Catholic and other Protestants.. The fighting for freedom continued until the late 1970s. Catholic against England.
United Kingdom (Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales).
The majority of the 'red legs thus named because as white people, their shin got burnt, and they could not work like the black people.
The descendants settled mainly in St John, Clinton Hall, and Church View.
Many Irish and Scottish descendants can be found in many other Caribbean Islands, and their type of foods is part of off Caribbean cuisine (black pudding. Scottish; mutton stew - Irish).
There are not an underclass; there are all Bajans - it's this class structure that is one of the biggest problems in society and the world today.
I have relatives and friends of these descendants you speak of in Barbados.
It's good to do research and broaden your views with openly narrow-minded.. The Internet has as it good and bad you can view the world, cultures and places.
Read the book by Sean O'Callaghan 'To Hell or Barbados - ethnic cleansing of the Ireland'

Thank you. I enjoy your videos immensely. Is there a reason why the roads are in such bad shape. I try to ignore it but I just have to ask. The schools you showed are beautiful but the roads are terrible even at the private school. Thank you. From U.S.A.

St. John tends to be neglected more than other areas, which is reflected in the road conditions.

How can you look at people and call them red legs. They are the decendents of Irish people that was taken to Barbados as indentured servants. Rihanna's father and White Grandmother came from that area under the Hill below the St. John parish Church
