I don't like that Gabb does not have an option to block every number. There is an option on iPhones to silence unknown phone numbers. When a random person tries to call your kid, it will be declined and sent to voicemail. And sometimes you can monitor your kid's voice mailbox, and delete messages. But i could see Gabb maybe adding a Call and Text control feature, where it will automatically update who can contact your kid, if they add a new contact. And only the numbers in their contact list can contact your kid. And other unknown numbers can't call your kid, or send messages to them, and will get a message from Gabb Wireless, that says. This phone number belongs to a kid, and you can't message or call them.
I cannot find anywhere the measurements of the standard Gabb phone. I know the screen is 5.5. Do you know the dimensions of the phone by chance? Thank you.
I have had this phone for a little over a year at this point, and this is the conclusion I have arrived at: Its not great, but not for stupid reasons like "it doesnt have a browser", no the problem lies in the fact that it doesnt work well. Group chats are busted and I have to download individual messages separately, and standard DM's dont work fluently either. On multiple occasions my dad has texted me to do things and I dont receive the text, then when I see him later he is confused as to why I didnt do it. Same experience here. We am currently in "Terms and Conditions Hell," insisting to be released without the termination fee for the unpaid hours we've spent assisting Gabb's tech support in trying to get our phone (the newest Samsung model) to receive texts. We went from not receiving a few texts at first (which we were unaware was happening) to a total and complete drop of incoming text functionality. The company has been a stinky butt about both fixing the problem (two weeks and counting) and letting us out of our contract (after just two weeks of full functionality). I will never do business with them again.

I love this review I just found this phone after searching for like 5 mins for a very kid friendly and affordable smartphone. This will be a birthday gift for my Goddaughter for her 10th birthday. She is going to be so excited.
When they grow old enough I really hope you get them an iPhone because well most people especially in America use an iPhone it’s a brand name and it’s kinda like a status symbol with that Apple dna also Apple products do have built in parental controls like if they can download apps how long they can use it what apps they can use and alerts of censored photos if they tap on one it will be alerted if they use an iPhone also I just can’t imagine using non Apple features like no FaceTime, blue bubbles aka iMessage and airdrop and this isn’t like a 1 or 2 person you know thing it’s like what most friends/family use and it just makes so much sense iMessage unlike sms / mms is it’s own messaging system instead of being through the carrier it’s apples own platform relayed off the internet via WiFi or data also sms just sucks and even iMessage still has some parental features and other apps like messenger kids well it’s not popular and good like making people jump on another platform when people use what most people use like in the us which is iMessage
Great concept but terrible execution. The spell check is horrendous turning correctly spelled words into misspelled words on a regular basis. It gets worse, though. The Gabb messenger takes 15 seconds to load a message on a regular basis. Using this phone to text is as painful as using a flip phone. 1.5 years ago the product was great, and I regularly recommended it to people: no longer. Plus, you can no longer receive text messages with links in them. Instead of just stripping out the link, the entire message is gone. Adding contacts is beyond painful. There is no way to import them, so "upgrading" a phone is an awful experience. Pro Tip: Stick to the first generation phone! Combine the lack of contact importing with being unable to receive MMS messages from people not in one's contacts, and I would never recommend someone "upgrade" their phone. Tech help is useless, and salespeople don't tell you about the changes to functionality between older and newer phones, so you get new hardware with limitations that didn't used to exist and that you didn't want, and you are locked into a crappy phone for two years. It is hard to describe how truly terrible my experience has been.

hi JaneLee, im pretty sure phones shouldn't be used for 5 yr olds even with constant restriction. it will make the kid grow up early and stuff, and i don't suggest it
Personally, I would never get my kids this phone because I’m an Apple user, and even if I was a Samsung user, I would never give them a phone where they couldn’t at least have UA-cam
Is there a way to see what a kid is texting and who he is texting, as well as see the pictures he has taken on it (other than looking at his phone)? We are having a situation where he is EXTREMELY aggressive when we ask him for his phone, and every time we happen to walk near him he NEVER fails to turn his phone or lock it just before we get close enough to see what's on it. Yes he has this gabb phone, and we know it is protecting him from worse things, but its driving us nuts on how secretive he is even with the limitations, and are about to have a serious intervention. So, to reiterate, is there a way through the parent/guardians account to see what he is doing on his phone, like do the texts/calls/photos "sync" somewhere to the parent account?
if you just gave him a normal phone im sure he wouldn't be as secretive. there's no way currently to see what is being texted on the gabb. if he's like 12+ or mature 10+ then he deserves a real phone. however if what he's sending is troublesome then get normal restrictions. kids don't like to be barricaded with these strict parent policies.
@@alexiabolt127 well we tried a normal phone first. He was still secretive. And Everytime we looked at it he had very inappropriate history and downloads.
@@PillsburyNinjaKneadingJustice so its common for a teenager of his age to be more addicted to phone and especially the internet due to hormonal growth and instability..so i think if the kid seems to be using a lot of adult websites or so..then please take time..but first as a parent i think you need to talk to him about this and make him realize that its normal at his age to have compulsive addictions..
No you can’t. It’s VERY easy to get around those restrictions on iPhones. Unless your kid knows how to code they can’t bypass the safety features and add unwanted apps on this phone. It’s a much safer option
@@osha1396 that’s literally what I just said, lol. You said an iPhone 5 is cheaper and has all the same restrictions and I pointed out that those iPhone restrictions are easily bypassed and that the Gabb phone is much safer.
@@LGJiG it was a typo, it’s easy to get apps on gabb, give me a day with a gabb and I’ll have apps on it by the end of the day. iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 can by bypassed with a lot of effort but iPhone se, 6s and newer cannot be bypassed.
@@osha1396 I know first hand that whatever a kid wants to access on an iPhone they can do that easily. I broke the restrictions myself accidentally. Unless the kids know how to code or access dev tools (most children do not) then it’s impossible for a kid to download an app from a nonexistent App Store or browser.
TBH, this phone is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. You might aswell have a flip phone, because with one you can still text your parents. When its designed for kids, what if your friend is middle school is like "bro did you see that yt vid, or that tiktok video, or just like you join or snap group chat?" You can't even download apps, let alone use a browser. They are charging the price of a cheap android phone, with the features of a flip phone, pretty dumb in my opinion.
Ik how to get games on it. 1) Go to settings and enable like the owner/developer controls 2) try going to Google 3) if this does not work but games from apk pure I am not sure this will work but I think you should try I would never get this phone for my kids. I would like them to enjoy games and look things up. I like looking up scores for football/baseball and I can't do it with this crap phone.

@Everett749 if they watch inappropriate videos on social media or take their phone. Not all social media creators are like this. Some are useful and actually educational.
i do NOT NOT NOT recommend this phone at all. it’s literally a cheap zte phone with LESS CAPABILITY than the original phone at a higher price. if you want to get your kid a first phone, get them a a used iphone 8 and simply put screen time on it. they’ll be getting something way better for the same cost.

@@PillsburyNinjaKneadingJustice how old is he now?
@@krueed9349he will be 14 in February
@@PillsburyNinjaKneadingJustice so its common for a teenager of his age to be more addicted to phone and especially the internet due to hormonal growth and instability..so i think if the kid seems to be using a lot of adult websites or so..then please take time..but first as a parent i think you need to talk to him about this and make him realize that its normal at his age to have compulsive addictions..
can you play games on it
You can get an iPhone 5s for under $50 in pretty good condition and it can have all the same restrictions enabled easily
No you can’t. It’s VERY easy to get around those restrictions on iPhones. Unless your kid knows how to code they can’t bypass the safety features and add unwanted apps on this phone. It’s a much safer option
@@LGJiG it’s not easy to get apps on gabb lol
Is there Bluetooth
Yes it does have Bluetooth.
Brett your name is like the yellow cartoon dog in smart grammar
In thumbnail it looked like a IPhone 10
Is it weird that i'm a adult, and I want this phone? lol, I just find it cool
I would get so many things done without all the distracting apps.
Could you install apps from APKs?
It does not allow this.
@@TechWithBrett oh ok
@@TechWithBrett then the phone is garbage if u can't play games or download apps
…
@@Thefireflied how did you find this lol
TBH, this phone is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. You might aswell have a flip phone, because with one you can still text your parents. When its designed for kids, what if your friend is middle school is like "bro did you see that yt vid, or that tiktok video, or just like you join or snap group chat?" You can't even download apps, let alone use a browser. They are charging the price of a cheap android phone, with the features of a flip phone, pretty dumb in my opinion.
Facts
If my parents bought me this phone I would instantly turn it into a normal one
And How tf u planning on doing that??
@@Avanipatni apks, root

@@TechWithBrett not

Me with an iPhone 15 pro max at the age of 11
You are cool
I'm going to have to get this phone it looks trash
Ik how to get games on it.
1) Go to settings and enable like the owner/developer controls
2) try going to Google
3) if this does not work but games from apk pure
I am not sure this will work but I think you should try
I would never get this phone for my kids. I would like them to enjoy games and look things up. I like looking up scores for football/baseball and I can't do it with this crap phone.
Some of us just want to be able to communicate with our kids during or after school but don't want the internet to be a distraction while in class.
So you would want your kids to be so addicted to there phone they can’t do anything else ?
Wish they had gps.
There's something called a Smartphone which has GPS and more! Lol.. this is just a kid phone for communication with parents
Nah… I’m good
Hi
F-Droid baby 😂
It's too expensive
Hey kid I have a surprise for you so you again
this is not a real phone...
This phone is so useless just give them something like an iPhone 6+ or some old 4G flip phone
so its basical a touchscreen flip phone.
POV:Your watching this on a gabb phone
Wait... How? Maybe I don't want to know.
@@TechWithBrett It's something my older brother showed me how to do
@@percyhealtherson2000 Let me tell ya a little secrst. It only works with the older ones but you go to a place with free WiFi it will ask you to sign in and it says continue to Internet spam it and 7/10 times it works
@@TechWithBrett yeah you can download stuff through apks. Lol I have a pinwheel phone.

Well now I can buy my daughter that because she really needs a safety fine thank you
No child should be forced to use this..
No ones forcing anyone to do anything wtf
Look up how social media is affecting kids and adult sites
@@symonegreen7493I agree
@Everett749 if they watch inappropriate videos on social media or take their phone.
Not all social media creators are like this. Some are useful and actually educational.
@@iloveaviation32 So what? Do you think parents can hover over their children 24/7 to know wtf they are watching all the time or something?
Guys this phone sucks stay away
in my opinion phones should be fun
Bruh, just give your kids a real phone.
It is a real phone. Basically smarter phones are mini computers.
Dislike.
@Abbi_bearcuz it’s 💩
i do NOT NOT NOT recommend this phone at all. it’s literally a cheap zte phone with LESS CAPABILITY than the original phone at a higher price. if you want to get your kid a first phone, get them a a used iphone 8 and simply put screen time on it. they’ll be getting something way better for the same cost.
In my opinion I would rather buy my kid an iPhone because at least it will keep ‘em busy
sad
Yeah busy with unreal stuffs..
Keep them busy like as in a babysitter for you. 🤦🏻♀️
