Hey man, you right. But check this out... I have an iPad that's always going to be at my house (specifically the kitchen) You don't have to use the hub if you go through bluetooth. Just use the Bluetooth on a mobile device that isn't your phone (and that stays in your house) in my case it's an iPad. Works just great. No hub!
Tech With Brett I was hoping to control my broadlinks with it to turn lights and TVs on and off...i also wanted to get cheaper brand coloured lights instead of Philips hue and use the button to control them. Hue is nice as they have switches for those that don’t know your lights are voice controlled.
Strangely but my Flic2 button comes sealed/glued, it's not possible to open it up to change battery, how it's possible ???!!!! Is this joke !!!! Will ask Flic guys, didn't expect this from .io. I know what I'm talking, tried high quality sticky hard pads by 3m, then cut notch to find there is no any chance for rotation. Hope they will send me new body at least. Horrible experience.
I want to replace 2 floodlights in my backyard with Ring floodlight cameras but I still want to turn the lights on and off with a switch when I’m letting my dogs out at night. This is perfect!
Yeah. This one with the IR and speaker options seems pretty versatile compared to other types of hubs thag I have seen. This certainly would be a addition and not a replacement.
Tech With Brett it will be interesting to see what future expansions and connections come too! I could really use an IFTTT button though...cheers for the reply!
FYI, After having a major medical event in my home at 2AM, lucky that my SO was here and was able to dial 911, turn off the alarm and open the electric gate, unlock the front door. I realized that if she hadn't been here I would have died. She isn't always here. So I ordered up a Z-wave Yale lock for the front door, which unarming the alarm will unlock, an emergency key fob, disarming the alarm, and a medical response for my alarm system, but that didn't open the gate. I realized that a Yolink 4 button or a Flic button would open the gate. I'm assuming that by wearing the fob and having the flic button close, hopefully, I'll be able to at least push the buttons. Don't get old, it's a bitch.
I just bought the Gen One flic buttons. At a deep discount. I figured I'd use this time to get you past the 69 comments on this video. Now it's family friendly.
Note: This may not be the next best thing, because it could be the better best thing... For example, my Phillips SceneSwitch lights are "dumb" but way faster than Phillips Hue. Pressing a button is often much faster than using your voice, or digging out an app. Voice is great when you're in bed or sitting down and can't reach something. Otherwise, buttons seem to win every time. I wish they made buttons like this for the Tesla. Maybe some knobs too... Way faster to manipulate and I don't have to look at it.
They actually worked very well and I think this version had all the necessary improvements. I will still need to see how they perform long term but they have done a great job so far.
Hi, I’m on iPhone... if I were to get these WITHOUT a hub and use them to control my LIFX devices, would I be able to use the button when the phone is locked?
Seems terribly expensive and limited compared to the abundance of button options and integrations in Home Assistant (Tasmota/ESPhome). But, it is plug-n-play.
These seem great. One question, if you can control the buttons through the phone app, what is the added value of getting the hub? I understand its not necessary. So why buy the hub?
So the hub can allow the buttons to work even when your phone is off or not near. So if paired to my phone and I leave the house the buttons don't do anything. The same if my Bluetooth is off or my phone is off. The Hub makes them always accessible. Great question.
Thanks Brett for your superb in-depth review of the flic 2!!! I am excited to get these as I have a whole lot of new Alexa routines and I can’t remember my exact voice commands, so to be able to click a button to activate the routines will a big help! Many other functions are possible with these flic buttons, I am looking forward to using them. Thanks again. I love all of your reviews.
Does it take a long time before the signal is picked up if you click in another room? Or behind obstacles? Like a sofa or around the corner of the room.
Great job of showing me how Flic 2 works with other apps.... Quick question...I have Alex control some of my Routines within Alexa can the Flic 2 work with Alexa Routines..? Waiting for your answer before purchasing the Flic 2...thanks again for doing a great job of demonstrating the Flic 2...
Hey Brett, I'm looking to replace my light switch with one of these. I'm just wondering is there an option on the app to set the brightness of the lights you want to come on? Realistically I would like the lights come on at 100% brightness every time I click. Cheers :)
Hard question, SmartThings Buttons would be the way to go if you have everything set up there. Some of the functions to pause and play my Chromecast are definitely unique to this device and something you can't control through SmartThings. So it really depends what you have setup and are looking to do.
What could you use the Flic 2 buttons for? Any other features you want to know about?
A Google home hub working with this device
Oh so does it work with robots like Cosmo can you switch it on I mean
DH v
1 button on the left which is also a top hat
$160 for 3 buttons an a hub!? Nooo thanks!!

The UA-cam URL issue.... Could it be because it's a youtu.be url and not a www.youtube.com url? My 2c.... Awesome video(s!) BTW!!
I hate voice controls. This is much better
Brett can i use flic 2 to stop alexa alarm clock without voice commands
No Hue Lights...Deal Breaker
the reviews on google play are Terrible! i wont be getting this now
Very nice, now we can have finally the trigger in an old stupid car for Google assistent.
Is there a way of executing Google routines with flic
Disappointing that you can’t control Alexa scenes
Yeah that would be nice, I might need to look into it that is possible with IFTTT.

It also may be possible to control scenes through Apple home kit. I don’t have one so I have no way to know

Did you get the two Ring floodlight cameras lights to work with the flic buttons?
Another hub?! Sad times...
Yeah. This one with the IR and speaker options seems pretty versatile compared to other types of hubs thag I have seen. This certainly would be a addition and not a replacement.

Your Amazon link to Shop Tech With Brett is dead...?
Can flic work with ifttt and ST to make multiple complex automations?

Veey nice but Wow that starter kit is so expensive since.
It's worth it tho. You gotta pay to play lol

Hi Brett, is it possible with a click of a button to play spotify specific playlist ?
Nice gadgets 👍

Thanks for the video, it is not possible to connect it to Alexa routines?
Yes you can
I was thinking about getting Flic to act as a physical switch for my LIFX lights. Would you recommend them?
They actually worked very well and I think this version had all the necessary improvements. I will still need to see how they perform long term but they have done a great job so far.
@@TechWithBrett how do they compare to something like the Smart things button? I don't have smart things but I was considering getting it

Hey
Mr Trump has plenty of buttons to push 😂

If i have a smart things hub and hue bridge already would adding a third hub start messing with things.
Thank you. Does it work with Google home? Also, I have Philips hue hub, doest it work with this hub without flick hub without my iPhone being around?
These still reliable? I might cave

I can make buttons with ESP8266's that can do much more for $6-$8 each at most.

Does it work with Yeelights?
That is the one thing in the office I couldn't get working. So I will still need to figure out some way to make it possible.
Does flic 2 work with tp link kasa?
It can through IFTTT.
Does it take a long time before the signal is picked up if you click in another room? Or behind obstacles? Like a sofa or around the corner of the room.

Since February 2021 Flic 2 natevely supports Alexa routines.
Hey Brett, loved your video packed with so much info. I’ve ordered mine now! #ShareTheLove
Does giving Google even more access to your home give you pause at all?
Can I have you Fortnite account you don’t play it any way
Does this work just as well if you connect the hub to ethernet?
Hey Brett, I'm looking to replace my light switch with one of these. I'm just wondering is there an option on the app to set the brightness of the lights you want to come on? Realistically I would like the lights come on at 100% brightness every time I click.

Yup, you can do that, tested it out with my office Flic and Hue lights (Lifx lights work great too) :).
one more question, If I have two floor house, and if I will put the hub on the upper level and a button downstairs, will it work ?
Yes all the things work with the hub when you’re away or at home if you didn’t have the hub you can only use the buttons when you’re near your phone

There's so much we can do with these buttons. Can't wait to put them everywhere
The price is absolutely insane for what it is. I'm making my own.
The sounds and the IFTTT integration are really cool! Wow i really need to get me one of those! Well done Brett as always!!! ~Dial
Yeah there is a ton more to look into there. Pretty powerful little devices.
These are super cool. Brett, would you say these are more feature-packed than what you can do with a Samsung Smartthings button?

Some of the functions to pause and play my Chromecast are definitely unique to this device and something you can't control through SmartThings. Isn't the whole purpose of a smart home not to have switches and buttons but control everything with your voice?
I would say a Smart Home is to make running a home easier any way that you like. Some like voice and others might like to press buttons.
