Not sure, this will weed out players needing more development. Last yr, all signed UFAs were release./ wavied before 53, later add some to practice squad. . If Snead is tell the truth, there is a pecking order. Some player's spots given because of draft status, vet status, coaches preference. No real competition. Hard for UFAs, FAs, even draft picks to break thru vet preference. Last yr, Niners kept Oliver (vet, DC favorite, guarantee pay, proved couldn't cover slot) over Jamieson (UFA, can cover slot, can return kicks). Limited roster 53, but longer n longer schedule. Need younger, cheaper, n better backups. Salary cap issues in 2025. Niners need to play their backups, to give experience n opportunities, to rest starters (some older), to prevent starters from getting banged up for playoffs. Bye might have enough time go heal. Can't wait for OTA n camp battles. Think there are 10 WRs for 5-6 spots. Who gets cut or gets put on pup or IR.

With the new rules, his speed (4.3 40) is going to create havoc for the opposition. He will get some touches at WR his rookie year but more than likely learn from the 49ers outstanding WRs, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk and TE George Kittle. He couldn't have hand-picked a better team to be drafted by than the 49ers (or KC, of course). Steve Smith is on record saying the guy is going to be a stud and that's good enough for me.
