    When high tides from Hurricane Sandy pushed the Gowanus Canal over its banks and into surrounding streets and basements, it did more than leave a potential residue of sewage and toxins behind. It carried pollution from the land back into the canal. WNYC rode the length of the Gowanus with John Lipscomb, who manages the environmental watchdog group Riverkeeper's water quality sampling program, to get an up close look at one of New York City's industrial waterways after Sandy.

      No wonder we have millions of cancer cases in this NYC area but the trend now is who wins the elections billions of dollars spent on that and cero here ..

    i don't care about the canal, its the nasty people who live around there,they dump all kind of stuff in there, your need to tear down those projects around there and rebuild, it will inprove the area
