*Updates*
This is a tutorial for air dribbling forever NOT regular air dribbling! There are far better tutorials out there for regular air dribbling/car control!
The information presented in this video is derived from personal experience, meaning there's going to be bias instilled within it. If you prefer having a further, higher, looser camera or different binds than what I suggested, go for it! Experiment and find what works best for you!
1) For people having a hard time with over correction, try setting your dead zone to .20 and lower your aerial sensitivity to 1.08. Like I said in my video, controller dead zone is VERY subjective. No two controllers are the same. It's ok to play around with dead zone and aerial sensitivity until you find something that you think is good.
2) Something I didn't really touch on in my video is how tilting the car mid air dribble can push the ball around. Using these little bounces can help with realigning under the ball's center of gravity. This is something that will come naturally with time but I figured it was worth mentioning.
This took a hot minute to produce. Anyway, enjoy.
Oh and Merry Christmas!

Wow. Just wow. I was trying to do the gauntlet for an hour at least, with 240 deaths on the first level. And right after the settings portion of the video I was able to complete it it under 10 tries. Immediately felt better. The biggest change for me was the aerial sens, I had it at 1.25, brought it down to 1.10. HUGE difference. Also changed deadzone from .5 to .8 since my stick has some slight drift to the left. These two small changes were MAJOR. Immediate difference in my ball control.
This content is simply amazing, hands off the best rl tutorial Ive ever seen, you even showed a console workaround honestly man goodjob I hope you blow up soon! you should definitely do more of these. I also have a suggestion for you, you should teach us how to master air rolls, both normal and directional, and show how would you do the figure of 8s on the Pillars map with a controller overlay, that would be really helpful.
Wow! What a tutorial! I absolutely see you blowing up soon, keep up the great videos
I'm one minute into this video and the quality of this video is amazing. You have a true understanding of RL settings and can explain it very well with editing... Ok 10 seconds later...WOW that recreation of height differences in blender?! Aight this video is gonna be good.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it and I hope it helps.
I've been waiting for this and I'm glad to say it was worth the wait! keep it up
Thank you!
One of the best videos about the topic I've seen. Thanks, it helped a lot!
So good quality and thoughts put into explaining. I really enjoyed, especially your chill voice!
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
I've just found your channel and can already say you're great player and content maker, sad you don't get hundreds thousands of views yet

Great tutorial bro ur the only guy with a good vid about this and now I can see crazy progress in one hour
Thank youuu been waiting forever for this
Np man, hope it helps!
I literally subscribed yesterday because you promised to make this video
Will you make a tutorial on how to start an air dribble? And maybe about just dribbling in general?
I understood more of how to air dribble from this one video, than from the 10-15 others I have watched!
You have a great way to explain stuff and I like that you show in greater detail what you are doing on the controller
I could but I feel like there's a lot of really good videos covering those topics already. These two channels in particular are a really good source of information:
Kevpert: ua-cam.com/channels/rS0jaX-SnvES7qf-jDmM-Q.html
Sir Timbers: ua-cam.com/users/SirTimbers
They aren't as active anymore, but their videos still hold up very well. Hope this helps! c:
Just saw your last video with ball controls. Nice stuff
Oh wow, im speechless.
This is an amazingly well made video, hands down one of, if not the best tutorial i've seen on youtube.
IVE BEEN WAITINNFOR SO LONG THANK YOUU
I waited for this! Thanks :)
You’re very welcome c:
Dude every time l watch this video l feel so inspired to continue learning this awesome mechanic thanks 🙏
Ty bro I was looking all over for this ty
Thank you for this i know this was made a year ago but this has helped me out so much, before i had no idea how to set it up or anything
I never understood what height meant in the camera settings until seeing your blender animation, well done
Dude making a blender for the cams doesnt just give us a good representation of the height function, but it is also insane that you managed to make it so good and accurate. Very good skill you have with blender and air dribbles
Currently learning basic air dribbles off wall with air roll and im starting to get the hang of it, i think i will learn this in future but generally would learning this now help in my regular air dribble pursuits?
Surprised with the sub count, looked at it and expected more good vid this is man!
Out of all tutorials, this one is helping me out the most. I thank you for that and I can't wait for more tutorials.
Do you have a discord channel
I’m glad it helped c: I’m actually working on setting one up. I’ll share a link in the next video.
Nice tutorial, its easy to see you've worked a lot at this.
Thank you c:
@@FancyDuck_RL what rank do you think you should do this at?
@@dxaisy Any rank really. But this won't help you in competitive matches. This is mainly for freestyling and workshop maps.
@@FancyDuck_RL oh ok thx :D and merry Christmas
@@dxaisy np c: and thank you! Merry Christmas to you too
i agree with the low sensitivity but it can also be said about high sensitivity with input on the joystick needed only when you need to correction
great video, much lovin
Could you make a tutorial for air dribbling in competitive play? Like with "standard" pro camera settings and common setups (off side wall, back wall, corners, off a bounce, off ball carry). This is a great video but I mostly want to develop the skill for use in games, not to freestyle or do workshop maps. I'm sure you would have great advice that other videos don't
Woah, hope your rl channel blows up due to the helpful informative videos
Very good tutorial!
Thank you!
Fantastic tutorial 👌 best in the biz
thanks man c:
I hate you and admire you haha at the same time. The control is crazy and you are the only one that has made a tutorial and have the credentials to back his words. Ku freaking dos!
Ty man!
Very effective video, thx
i went from not being able to do it at all, to getting the 1st and 2nd level of air dribble gauntlet completed. albeit i still died about 150 times while doing that.
I also was able to do a lot better in freeplay after and will be committing myself to atleast reaching a 20 second air dribble as there is definitely merit to having that level of consistency.
Even if ya dont think itll help in competitive play it definitely does. because it alters how you see your first touch lol which ends up mattering more than anything when setting anything up xD
Good stuff!
Found your video 2 days ago, and I managed to do the airdribble challenge for 20 sec, but on 0.75x speed.
0.75x on the airdribble challenge map helped me the most so far, the mutators are great too, but unfortunately you can only use them on a normal playfield, so I hit the ceiling too fast. The biggest struggle I have is, when I try to lift it, my car will flaten out when I'm trying to tornado spin around the ball.
Also when the ball reached its peak and is descending again I can't control it anymore and it just keeps accelerating too much downwards...
AHHH
WHAT A GREAT TUTORIAL
Thank you so much! c:
@@FancyDuck_RL NO THANK YOU FOR WAHT A GREAT SERVICE

Learning to freestyle, biggest difficulty is getting height on my air dribbles, which ruins my plan Bs, gonna try this for a month, thanks!!!
good luck c:
TY for this
Great video and you explain things very well. I do have a question though, I haven’t tried out your settings but I assume they don’t make great ones for actually playing rocket league so do you have any suggestions for best midway settings that will aid aerial control but still be playable in game? Thanks for the hard work and I look forward to more of your content 🙏
Thank you! And yeah this camera isn't very good for regular matches. Increasing distance can help with that or another technique that I didn’t really touch on in the video is bouncing the ball off your nose rather than doing a constant push. Here’s an example: ua-cam.com/video/3xebGEfOKLc/v-deo.html
This also helps getting around the camera height issue. Meaning you can have "regular" cam settings when doing this. I didn’t mention it because it’s way harder to learn how to infinite air dribble compared to the method I show in the video.
i can air dribble forever and personally i use 110 210 60 which is usable in game imo but still very close for most people. You could probably boost that to 70-90 height and maybe 230 distance with it still being usable for this kind of thing but it'll get more difficult as you get higher.
Just tested it out in freeplay and 90 height is too much. 80 height is possible but a bit bouncy so I recommend anything 70 and below. distance is a bit more subjective but i can go up to about 250 and still save the ball from falling
@@sallen5019 I originally had 50 - 80 in the script but someone pointed out to me that it might be better to recommend 40 - 50 for the sake of helping people learn faster. But yeah I agree with your results. Thanks for the feedback.
@@FancyDuck_RL yeah I learnt with 60 so I personally wouldn't go as low as 40 for air dribbling but it's the kind of thing where u experiment a bit and work out what works for you
Love you !
Love you too
underrated
thank you man
Omg is so insane thanks this video need get 1 billion view hahah 👍🏻 thanks for video i am try use all mechanis in my game if i am learn i am back here to talk about. Thks broh
Thanks man, I’m glad you liked it!
Hello ! Thanks for the amazing video. To be honest, it is perhaps one of the best out there regarding infinite air dribbling !
That being said, can you perhaps help us a bit more with the breakdown of that tornado spin ? So. I do know how to do it ( tons of materials on that over the internet too ) , but I can see you are using both Air Roll Left and Right, and making so maany corrections very fast with the left stick. I personally feel I can t do any one correction while using tornado spin while practicing but I m doing well recoveries / spins on the Pillars map for training. I only learned Air Roll Left so far. So I know everything comes natural after practice but something just feels off when trying to do any correction while air dribbling. Much appreciate !
Hey first off, thank you so much! I'm happy you liked the video.
For me, using both air roll left and right makes things a lot easier but there's certainly a learning curve to it. It felt weird to me too at first but the more you use it the more sense it will make.
When it comes to tornado spins you wanna tap the inputs instead of just holding left on the joystick and air rolling right (or vice versa). That's what at like 7:03 you'll see me flicking the joystick while I'm tapping my air roll left and right buttons. I'm never just HOLDING the tornado spin inputs. I'm not sure exactly what you want me to break down specifically but if you can give me more details I'll try my best to help
Very helpful video, could you give an estimate of around how many hours this takes/took you to learn?
I probably spent on average 2 hours a day for 45 days till I could air dribble forever. Once you hit 200 seconds it's smooth sailing.
One day I wish to see your channel reaching 100k
The god king posts again 😈
We climbing to the top 😤
I really want to try this but i'm unsure if the camera settings would work well with normal matches. Do you switch back and forth depending on what you do? Or do you use these camera settings in normal matches? i'm more into freestyling than normal play but i still like to play normal matches and i was just wondering. Great video btw.
Yeah I swap back to different settings for normal matches. These settings are only really good for infinite air dribbles. Thanks man!
i’ve lost all confidence to air dribble but this video is making me grind it again. it’s been a year learning how to air dribble and better control and idk what i’m doing wrong 😭
This probably isn’t the best way to learn regular air dribbling or even aerial control. This is specifically for air dribbling forever. Not that I’m trying to discourage you or anything I just think it’s an important thing to clarify. There are better tutorials out there for car control and regular air dribbling. That said, you got this and I believe in you! ᕦ(•̀ᴗ•́)ᕥ

Ty bro
Hi , Amazing tutorial
it's doable but it's a lot easier with both left and right air roll.
Hey nice video, one question, does this mean you do not use regular ‘air roll’ button?
Thank you! And yes that is correct, I don't really use neutral air roll any more.
got 47 sec, pretty happy but i still oversteer it to much, specially up and down :( hard to get rid of a bad habbit
This is literally the best video for air dribbling like this :0
Edit: I've gotten 56 seconds and I'm dying
Thanks my guy! 56 seconds is a good amount of time :0 You’re so close to the 1 minute milestone! You’re doing great!
after wathching this video and practicing a lot, I brought my best time from 32 seconds to 95! thanks!
Way to go man c: Keep it up!
I’ve had a muscle memory breakthrough I feel good I can actually lift the ball and rotate around it. It only took 5 months
sounds good i'll be going to space in a few days
hey im on nintendositch and i dont have air driddle maps at all but i can air dribble super good i tot my self how to air dribble. fancy duck you are amazing at air dribble thanks for the video.
Hey thanks, I'm glad you liked the video! Being able to air dribble on the switch is no easy task. In fact, it's really impressive! Keep up the good work my guy :)
Great tutorial, bro can you please make a tutorial to air rolling , it will be awesome
Hey, thank you so much! I'm not sure I understand what you mean by an "air rolling" tutorial :s
@@FancyDuck_RL i mean using right or left air roll ,, like when the car move around it self
I can finally show off my air dribble skills to people lol
Them camera settings are so funny
ty
Just Hit 20s after 3 weeks
Normal camera settings with octane
I also Hit 10x 19s today
Meaning i have more 19s
Then 18s
Thats improvement kicking in right there
Keep at it bro! (•̀ᴗ•́)و
hey bro i really liked this tutorial, i am a old player, i was in champ 3 when i stop playing, im back to the game after some really long time, and i just cant be good as i was before, but now i want definally master the air dribble, but not like you do in the video, let me think how i can explain
the air dribble that i want to master, is a little bit more easy, its not with the car full time facing the ball, is making some hard touches to the ball, making the ball get a little far away, and at all time spinning the car to reach the ball again, and make one more hard touch, and repeat till the end of the universe lmao, im not that bad at this, i can really make some clips, but still doesnt mastered yet
i always played rocket league on xbox so in my time i couldnt reach my full potencial, as we can on pc with bakkesmod and workshop, now that i have a pc, i really loved the air dribble gauntlet, the mugzrds air dribble gauntlet, but i cant pass the lvl 1, i really cant do the full vertical air dribble, im good only carrying the ball, cuz in xbox all i has was the normal freeplay map, so i couldnt really go vertical
sorry the long text, im brasilian, my english is bad and i dont know how to be precise with the words, so i need to talk to much to explain a little bit lmao
but you can give me some tips to improve faster?
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video c:! I believe the kind of air dribbling you are referring to is like this: ua-cam.com/video/fds5Dqu8Veo/v-deo.html&ab_channel=sallen correct?
Sallen has a lot more experience when it comes to bouncing air dribbles than I do and I'm sure he would be willing to answer any questions you have over on my discord server (in the description).
That being said, moving vertically is very difficult using that method so it makes sense as to why you might be struggling to master it. It's possible to learn but it takes time. But if you put in the work you'll be able to do it.
If you send us some clips of you air dribbling through the discord we can try to point out any mistakes we see.
Could you give me an example of how much progress I would improve in each month of training this mechanic? I would really appreciate it and love you videos!!
It takes about 3 months to be able to hold the ball forever. But don't worry about the results. Just train a little bit each day and enjoy the process. In my experience, challenging yourself with different workshop maps is the best way to avoid getting burnt out and quitting. Good luck my guy c:
@@FancyDuck_RL thank you for the advice and I will try to follow your steps. Do you still have the same sensitivity’s and settings as in the video?
You're very welcome, and yes.
@@user-zd5eh2df2w
Nice tutorial, but can I also do that with the airroll with the stick instead of the airroll right?
Tornado spins make it a lot easier and you can't do tornado spins without air roll left/right binds. So, yes, it IS possible to do it with neutral air roll or even without air rolling entirely but it's a lot harder.
i just can figure out if you are using normal airoll or only airol left or right
can u please help me with that answer?
thanks! love your video!
I only use air roll left and right.
bro im 5th day in this and the ball just constantly falls after I build its momentum by hitting the ball up in the sky perfectly (in the air dribble training map by gidek) I just cant seem to spiral around it yet but ima keep reportin in. yea dude gravity is just ruining me like no matter how much i hit it perfectly I cant make the ball glide upwards only tapping it up perfectly in the middle until the ball gets pulled down by gravity
Can you explain what tornado spins are and how to do them?
A tornado spin is performed by holding air roll left while turning right in the air (or holding left and air rolling right). You need to use the directional air roll binds and not neutral air roll.
The reason I use it while infinite air dribbling is because it keeps my nose pointed at the ball while pivoting the position of my booster. You can see an example at 5:30 where I'm tapping the inputs I described above for a bit more control.
btw u need to keep in mind that the sense is different on xbox and ps4 5
Noice vid
lol i cant air dribble unless i continuously spin with air roll left ...dunno how that happened lmao
honestly, that's kind of impressive.
I’ve watched this video like 200 times now
How much improvement should I see in a week would you say?
How can I get the ball over me with that private match settings?
ily 🤵♂️ 🦆
All cool, but it's kinda sad that you didn't mention the shape of deadzone, which is crucial for movement in this game cause cross, circle and square different results, square is really "sensitive" and its less smoother, but more responsive, circle is more smooth when moving to the sides and cross is more "static", good video anyways
Can we play on the computer to do this?
Is it neccesary to have two directional air rolls
Technically no, but it makes it a lot easier.
Man that's hard. Gonna keep trying though
Can this be learned without air roll Left and Right but only one of them?
Yes, but it's harder
I am trying to do tornado spin correction on keyboard but I keep getting far from the ball, and tornado spinning actually does not work unless I tilt the car backwards after, and even then I am in a bad position to hit the ball again. So it is not helping at all. Could you personally help me, please?
I think, I figured it out. I tried with those suggested mutators, but also with the slow-mo one. It is now evident that I was spinning for too long, There should be short bursts of tornado spins
Basically, it will be boring, but if you really want to learn to become this sort of player... You need time and patience, plus a lot of effort to be put in within those sectors. That is all.
Instructions unclear. Accidentally built a shelf
hey, is it possible to get air dribble gaunlet on epic?
ive tried what spookluke said with steamcmd and it didnt work since there's another game item with the same link
its not on the workshop plugin either i believe.
I threw the udk file in the description for you. You can use rocket plugin to load it. Good luck c:
Hopefully given enough time i can fly
i cant find the maps on the bakkes mod workshop plugin and idk where i can get it from.please help!
I had to search for "airdribble" for it to pop up. For some reason if you include the space between the words it doesn't work. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll just upload the map on a google drive so you can download it that way.
I am going to carry the ball on the tip of my car while flying in the air indefinitely now!
Good luck my kind fellow!
did u also play ranked with these camera settings?
I zoom out a bit for ranked lol
I have a problem with trying to airdribble like this, when i try it the ball just keeps bouncing on top of my car and it does not stick to it, any tips?
The ball basically always bounces on the first touch but after that it's a matter of feathering boost until you and the ball are at equal speeds. Once you start falling with the ball you can hold boost and that will for sure stick the ball onto your nose.
@@FancyDuck_RL Thank you
big brain
Can you do it upside down? or do u get wheel hits
it's possible, just a lot harder.
Is using only the air roll left is enough or do I have to use both ?
Theoretically it's enough but it makes it far more difficult, especially when learning.
@@FancyDuck_RL Thanks a lot, I finally put the two air roll and effectively it is much better ! 😄
Tbh i can long air dribble without air roll left but do u think i need both air roll right and left to improve?
Having both left and right air roll will most likely help you to improve faster as I believe it makes things easier.
I also think it's possible to improve with just one air roll considering stuff like this is possible with only one directional air roll: ua-cam.com/video/DBQKjYxNcJw/v-deo.html
Ok thx bro hope u have a great day :)
Oh and btw i have air roll right on L1 and my left is nothing (well i can use it i guess if i hold the joystick left and hold L2
@@shaddycoolguyokwaro954 As someone who can air dribble with just one air roll my best advice for u is to absolutely learn with both air rolls as it just makes everything so much easier. It's obviously possible without both but you'll just be making it harder on yourself and wasting time imo
Thank u for the tip.i started actually learning with both air roll 2 weeks ago and i now know its way easier lol.i cant believe i wasted 2 months of doin this with only air roll right.
