Regarding what I watch for in reactions: 1) A movie I have seen. So this rules out a lot a videos, no fault of the reactors. 2) It's about sharing the experience (in a weird delayed way), so it should be something I care about. It doesn't have to be any big twists or shocking moments, it can be something that's just engaging emotionally. 3) Some actual reflection and commentary during the viewing or afterwards. Some other reactors are sort of just going "wow, I didn't see that coming" over and over again, which isn't much of an reaction. So there are quite a few "smaller" movies that I would like to see reactions to, but I can understand why it doesn't happen. Not being as well known or not appealing to a broader audience, they would probably not do well on youtube.
Yeah, I'll second these reasons for why I watch reactions in general. I'd just add that when I actively search for a particular movie or show, it's something I've resently seen and enjoyed, for whatever reason, and I sort of want to relive it.
It’s an interesting thought process for sure. Of course, I love the discovery process of others’ for movies I love/enjoy. But also, I use them as viewing “partners” for movies I have neither the interest nor the stomach for, even though I know they’re well-made/received movies. I.e., Arrival, Hereditary, Castaway, etc. definitely, I prefer intelligent discourse - but it can range from the story, the acting, the movie making or just how they feel about what they’re seeing. It’s not a film class for college credit, after all! In reaction to some other comments, I love Amalie, Hunt for Red October, Creed 2 and Tropic Thunder. They all make me feel and think. Nothing bad about that!
Yeah I will never understand people who watch chopped down reactions to films they've never seen. I see that in every comment section.. I get supporting the reactors but you're just robbing yourself. Watch the movie then come back and watch the reaction
@@dustywaynemusic6297 I do that sometimes, but if I watch a reaction to something I've never seen, it's a movie I had zero interest in spending my time watching, but other people seem to like. I mostly just want an idea of why so many people like it when I (for whatever reason) was so completely uninterested by whatever promotional material I saw for it. And of course, to support the reactor(s) that happened to react to it. But I never actively look for reactions to stuff I haven't seen. It's always more of a "Ohh look, CineBinge reacted to Borat for some reason. I wonder if they liked it."
When it comes to the lack of performance for EEAAO and Maverick, at least for me I know I didn’t watch those videos because I still haven’t seen the movies. I feel like, for the most part, newer movies probably won’t perform quite as well because not as many people have seen them? Just spitballing.
I also tend to only watch reviews/reactions to movies for movies that I've either already seen/know well (or THINK I know really well) ... so newer movies which I haven't seen yet (or had planned on seeing at a later date) just get skipped so I dont spoil the movie for myself.
The reactions I seek out are not necessarily those with jaw-dropping moments… but those movies that I genuinely love as a whole and it feels like I'm sharing it with them .
I think the reason why “everything everywhere all at once” performed poorly is probably because it’s new and a lot of people haven’t seen it. I tend like to watch reactions of things Ive seen.
But it didn't performed poorly.... It was made on the cheap and made over 100 million dollars and is the studio's (A24) best grossing film. A24, in general, is a fantastic up and coming studio but they primarily make films that would be classified closer to art house films vs blockbusters like Avatar. EEAO pretty much made 4x or 5x its budget and will continuously be one of those films streaming sites like Netflix pay top dollar to get streaming rights for like Shawshank Redemption, Batman, or Inception. For everyone involved, it pretty much did exactly what it needed to do.
I came here to say pretty much exactly this, thank you. I haven't watched that reaction even yet, because I still haven't seen the movie. Waiting for it to be free on streaming somewhere, then I'll definitely watch the reaction afterwards. I think when the reaction came out it was either seeing it in the theaters, or renting it at home for 20 or 30 bucks. That's the reason it was the least viewed, you two!
These guys talk the exact amount i like reactors watch talking. Not too much, but just enough to not be boring. Them not knowing about a lot movies and not being able to predict twists also makes it a more fun experience for me. Their surprise is always entertaining to watch.
There's reactors who "guess" what's going on in the plot so accurately, and can't stop talking throughout the film, that it's clear to me they've seen the film already.
I would totally dig a "Simone'Splaines" segment at the end of every reaction video. A quick 30 second rundown about what the movie was about and who the characters were from Simone's own Unique Perspective; completely unscripted from the top of her head. It would be the **Chef's Kiss*** to each episode.
I mostly gravitate towards things I've already seen. For me reaction videos are the closest I can get to experiencing the same feelings I did when I first watched a movie or show. It's like showing a friend something that's important to you. It's never about the shocking or big moments (at least for me), it's all of it. It's about seeing the thing I enjoy in a new and fresh way.
If you haven't seen the film you don't know the context or stuff you are missing out on, so it seems natural to watch reactions to films you have already seen.
Simone naming Everything Everywhere and Amelie for underrated is great, those are my two favorites of all time! But I’m not that surprised there wasn’t a big audience for those on UA-cam
I didn't watch reactions to it because I hadn't seen the movie. Everything I'd heard indicates my mind is going to be blown by it. I'm going to watch it first.
@@BJBee I was just coming to say exactly the same thing. I never watch reactions to films I have not yet seen myself, and as this particular film is new, maybe others didn't watch it for the same reason, and that's why the video didn't perform well.
I was not expecting the first video, and now we get a second? You two are like a couple of friends who keep dropping by unannounced with alcohol, and I don't mind at all. These hangouts have been fun.
For Simone wine fund, you should be able to get at least a $12 bottle so here is the other $5 for next shop 😃 Maybe you could consider the movie Predestination (2014), it is a great time travel movie with an interesting premise but so few reactions on UA-cam, my favourite movie is Lord of the Rings and Shawshank Redemption is in my top 10, reactions even rewatches are good 😃
You guys are one of the few reaction channels where I specifically watch for your reactions, regardless of what the movie is. As for my own two cent advice, I think having a healthy mix of popular films and under the radar films is the winning formula. Less popular, under the radar films may attract less views but you'll probably get newer viewers who don't watch bigger films. And because your reactions are great, they'll probably stick around for the popular films, too. Bigger films are necessary, I get it, but when all channels are doing them, y'all can get lost in the mix, unfortunately. Best of luck to you in the new year!
The wife and I love you guys so much. We have more fun watching you more than any other reaction channel. George is logically funny and Simone is the great balance of emotional. Keep doing the great job that you're both doing. BRAVO!
If it makes you feel any better, my kids grew up on Amalie. Stone cold classic. There are a ton of quirky little British movies that just have their own charming voice and point of view, but unless they are turned into a Broadway musical (like Billy Elliot or Kinky Boots) they sort of drift away. Also, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope is focused on teaching a man a lesson in much the same way as the Magic Black Man trope. Amalie is definitely enchanted, but it's her story. She's not a plot device.
@@treetopjones737 people can believe whatever tf they want, and not agreeing with that which goes against one’s morals and values is not “hatred”, no matter how desperate you are for it to be.
@@jasonkh4 You can believe whatever stupid shit you want, the problem is when you try to infringe on the rights of other people. If you don't like immigrants or homosexuals or whatever else, you can just keep that intolerant garbage to yourself. Or maybe try out this little thing called empathy.
I don't search for specific movie reactions, sometimes YT just recommends stuff for me. I look for reactions from people I like. And I like, no, LOVE, you guys.
I watch a lot of reaction movies. Unfortunately, I can't watch anyone but you two now. I'm spoiled! I like the dynamic between the two of you, two people hype each other when its funny and you talk to each other, the slightly smarter / sweeter dichotomy. I like how much you talk, how big and where your screens are. I can't watch other people anymore because I get annoyed when they dont understand stuff. Its been how many years since I watched Breaking Bad, as it came out, and only you guys could tempt me to watch it again, and I'm really enjoying the watch along with y'all. Im guessing new releases will never be highly viewed because they can't capture the nostalgia audience.
Amélie is one of my favourite movies of all time. I also feel like it's extremely underrated despite how many people said they loved it when it came out.
I watch a good many movies and was surprised at how many of your favs I haven't seen yet. I guess I've got some homework to do but I'll be back to watch all of your great reactions!
I don't really search for particular reactions often, I just check out my favorite reactors and watch something that I enjoy. If I had to though, it'd be emotional moments in film. Doesn't need to be a dramatic movie, but particular scenes from them. Overall, I'm very happy that I've been subscribed to you both throughout the year. You've brought a lot of joy to me this year. Thank you so much for that! :)
Great retrospective on the year. As to your question of how viewers choose what reactions to watch, I'm in it for the ability to vicariously experience a film I love for the first time again. So for my part, the more recent the movie the more likely I am to have not been able to see it yet. That's why I haven't watched your Everything Everywhere All at Once video yet. But knowing that your reaction to it is up makes me want to see it more!
This was a lot of fun. You two really complement each other. Please each of you get a nicer bottle of wine and whatever George is sipping on. (A little surprised "Speed" didn't make either of your "fun movie" lists, or was that 2021?) I also want to recommend "All is Lost" if you haven't seen it privately yet. Robert Redford literally carries it, and there is very little dialogue, but it is gripping nonetheless.
Yeah I remember that. And yet I only saw it for the first time a few years ago. I had no real expectations for it though since the only specific aspect of the movie that I really remembered was seeing the movie poster all over the videoclub kiosks in my neighborhood. I absolutely adore the movie though. It's in my top 3 movies, possibly even my favorite movie I've seen, so I can understand why it was such a huge success back when it was released.
Generally speaking I don't usually watch reactions to movies that I haven't seen before, but I've actually found myself watching quite a few different movies because I really enjoy the commentary. You two play off of each other very well and often add insight that I hadn't even thought of before.
the first video of yours that i watched was your Rush Hour reaction.. and for me personally, i scrolled through your backlog for another few movies that i've seen and loved.. and holy moley y'all have watched a TON of movies! i really love your dynamic and commentary. congrats on 100k subs, and thanks so much for these videos~
One of the main reasons it's so hard to nail down a "good" reaction movie is everyone has different tastes. The reactions I look forward to most are movies I have some personal connection to. One of the reasons I think your channel does as well as it does is your difference of reaction to a particular scene. I love seeing one of you horrified/disgusted/shocked aka Simone and and the other busting out laughing. The biggest reason I bet a lot of us watch any reaction channel in general is it's the closest we'll ever get to watching a movie for the first time.
For me, a lot of it is trying to recapture my own first experience of watching a film. So if I haven't seen a film before, I tend not to watch abreaction to it; especially if it's a new film I want to watch in the future.
The reasons I watch reactions: 1. In a TLDR manner - If it's a series or movie I enjoy and I don't want to watch the entire thing or have it on in the background while working or w/e. 2. WOAH! Moments - Like most people I like the crazy moments that really bring in the views lol. 3. Stuff I Enjoy - Series/Movies that I really like that I will come back to and probably watch your reactions again pretty much. 4. What's your take? - I also like seeing different people's takes on certain films, and also if I enjoy how someone processes/breaks down what they're watching or feeling I'm more inclined to come back and see other takes on Film (You two are great because you two are pretty different people and can have good dialog about movies and speak your thoughts well, others I like for their breakdowns of their thoughts are people like JamesVSCinema, Brandon Like Movies, and Blindwave plus many more).
the videos for movies that underperformed is because most people haven't seen the movie. i and i would assume many others don't watch reactions for movies i haven't seen. i know that there will be edited out parts and its difficult to try to piece together the story and pay attention to the reaction. I use it as kind of a rewatching a movie with "friends". i get to rewatch a movie i like but it doesnt get stale because of the new perspectives you guys offer.
So generally what I am looking for in a reactor channel is simple. 1) Genuine reactions, I hate it when people pretend to be reacting to movies or music they have seen/heard but then pretend it is their first time. I love seeing the genuine response to a movie a know and how a new generation views the context from their lens. 2) Nostalgia. It is fun to go back and relive a movie I loved but not having to watch the whole thing, just getting the highlights with commentary. 3) Familiarity. Although you cannot know who has seen a movie, I do not watch reactions of movies I have never seen, as that is pointless as I would not understand the context of what is going on. I would bet the less popular/less well known a movie is, the less views you get. So that is my take, I love your channel, I love the 2 different perspectives you 2 give and your honest and genuine opinions. Also I like reactors who do not over do it... 2 a week, make me anticipate it, too much content I dont have time for,
I'd say my favorite thumbnails of the last year are A Clockwork Orange, Deadpool 2, Dumb and Dumber, Mean Girls, and Kung Fu Hustle. Great job, George.
thumbnails (yes three) Just Simone: The Goonies Just George: Ghost Both: Curse of the Black Pearl Reaction moment from both of you.; John Wick. George's "eep!" look towards the camera when Simone is glee-filled at Daisy and I had a strong instinct to hug her after moment to relieve the look of udder sadness. I look forward to your reactions next year! Honourable mention: Every moment when Simone gives George a sour look whenever he says something inappropriate hehe.
There's an idea for a YT Shorts series you can do, Simone describes in her own unique way a movie you've both reacted to and George tries to work out which one it is.
I discovered you all because you were one of maybe three reaction channels that watched The Northman. You guys have some great, slightly more obscure picks and I don’t know if I would’ve found you otherwise. Anyway, keep it up guys, you helped me get through the whole second half of this year. Thank you. (Also, Master and Commander should be on the list. There’s very few reactions to it 😉)
When I look for reaction videos, I have a few criteria. Number one, I have to have seen it. Didnt see maverick till recently, so NOW I will watch reactions. Number two, my favorite movies gets priority. Number three is movies with those "BIG" moments. The shcoking, intense, twisty moments. number four is "Classics." Great movies that EVERYONE should see. And Lastly at number five is the reactors themselves. certain ones I just like more than others.
Instant big nah. She also said Space was stupid in that Q&A vid from the other day, which is just what. What. How can you say Space is stupid and you hate Space. Just man. Terrible, terrible taste on that girl sometimes. Thank god for George
The one unavoidable thing about art is you can't experience it for the first time twice. That's why I'm here. That moment in 'Casablanca' where Louis says "round up the usual suspects," is such a brilliant line, but time, repetitiion and a movie called 'The Usual Suspects' has dulled the original's incisive wit. I'm 59yrs old and I've seen a lot of shit, so it's refreshing to see a completely brand new take on some of that shit, especially from two such funny, articulate and above all nice young people. Thanks guys!
Simone is correct in every way with "Amelie", and her other choices for most beautiful were perfect. Great list from great reacters (arguably, the greatest) and thanks for a great year of great reactions and can't wait for even greater ones next year ... or else. Kidding. Or AM I?
Others have likely said this as well, but i only watch reactions to films I’ve either already seen (thus no spoilers) or have no intention of ever seeing (thus it doesn’t matter if it’s spoiled for me). As a Gen Xer I’m obviously thrilled to see you guys react to classic 70’s & 80’s films. It’s especially interesting getting the reaction of younger folks for that generational perspective. I also appreciate getting George’s perspective on movies with Chinese settings, actors, dialogue etc.
That amazing shot of young Clemenza preparing to possibly execute the curious cop is also my favorite shot/visual in both of those visually gorgeous movies.
Thanks for you summary. I look forward to your reviews and thumbnails for the coming year. I'll freely admit I don't watch all of your reactions. I primarily select the ones of movies I've seen already that I had enjoyed, but there's no way you can target that. You do have a great range in genres, so I would encourage you to keep it up Happy New Year!
I agree! EEAAO was the most underrated and I didn't know what I was getting into! But I've been binging ALL reaction videos on Everything Everywhere All At Once and a bunch of the videos have really high view counts so I'm SHOCKED you say it's one of your lower view count vids! It was how I discovered you guys (subbed!)
I have searched for someone doing a reaction to strange days . It's one of my favorite films that has been lost in time . Dark City is also a hidden gem.
Oh, "Stange Days", that's the "cyber-memory-implant-drugs"-one from Kathryn Bigelow, right? Damn, completely forgot about that movie. But I remember I loved it when it came out.
13:36 what tends to happen is that a channel i already follow posts a reaction to one of my favorite movies, and that prompts me to search for other channels reacting to the same movie. if i find a reaction i like, i look to see what else the channel has reacted to. but i initially started watching movie reactions because i was already watching music reactions (mostly in the "classical singer reacts to metal music" vein) and some of the channels i followed also did movie reactions. i enjoy watching people discover the things i enjoy, so i started looking for movie reactions, too.
Like some others, I don't search for movies in particular but follow my favourite reactors, and you two are the top for me in that. (One day I'll have the funds to join you on Patreon.) I adore your friendship and humour, and your intelligence without pretension. I will always watch reactions to movies I've already seen and love to share the experience, and rarely watch current blockbuster reactions because you can't avoid hearing people's thoughts on those one way or another. FYI, I was so happy you guys did Amalie. I saw it when it first came out and since and it's one of my favourites and I love to see anyone discover its delights. The tropes in it weren't yet tiresome tropes when the movie first came out, so long ago that it was BEFORE a popular travel site started using a gnome as its mascot just to give you an idea of the timing.
i thank you for this channel, its always fun to watch how Simone & George react to movies. and i hope channel will expand to games. i love the layout of this channel, its normal not too shiny, it is relaxing, and laughter burst that Simone and George have in vids make me smile and facepalm at the same time. and i dont know it thats afilter.. but Simone has bit of a Vampire fangs. ty so much
I think that the thing about newly released movies is that there's still a lot of people who haven't seen them yet, so that is probably what contributes to lower viewcounts even if they may be very highly requested by those that have already seen it.
4:20 I agree with this, the hobbling is a more gruesome idea than axing. In addition to the over-gore, axing is so easily just pure aggression, while hobbling is a more methodical procedure, making the scene just thoroughly EVIL.
What I usually look for in a reaction, is that it's on a movie I have seen or if it's a horror film, cause I don't watch those, and it's less scary to watch it in a reaction video... And while I understand that certain films won't have the same appeal for getting views, I really enjoy seeing you two together, and I've clicked on lots of videos of films I have no interest in just to see your reactions. I personally loved the Amelie reaction! Happy holidays and a happy new year!
George needs to watch Amelie again. The perfection of it doesn't open up, if watched with expectations. Also, City of Lost Children, by the same director, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, should go to your watchlist. The most beautiful steampunk film ever.
@@notmee2388 Ironically, Alien Resurrection gets more views, than other Jeunet movies, even though everyone thinks it's the worst of the original Alien movies.
@Simone + George I really hope you keep watching some lesser known or niche movies like "Amelie" or "Everything, Everywhere...". Even though I personally didn't watch "Everything, Everywhere..." yet, since I didn't got my hand on a copy of it yet, I will definitely watch it later (expecting something like "The Postmodern Life of My Aunt"). Anyway, I think you should ofc do the popular stuff, for the views and cause they are (mostly) popular for a good reason. But it's so exiting if you come across a reaction to a movie that you might like even if it's not popular/well known, and not everyone and their dog did a reaction to it. As a big Asia and esp. HK-movie fan, I really hope for some more Asian movies now and then. Not only martial arts stuff. Some John Woo/Johnnie To etc. heroic bloodshed, or some drama (think Wong Kar-Wai or Kim Ki-Duk). I wouldn't even mind some McDull movie 😄
I'm subscribed to a bunch of movie react channels, and am always on the lookout for new ones. My main motivation for seeking out a specific movie reaction is to get the chance to watch the movie again for the first time, through the reactor. Usually when I come across a new react channel, I will cherry pick my favorite movies from their existing react videos, and if I find their commentary style enjoyable to watch, I will then subscribe. From that point, I will watch new videos from them if it is a movie I've already seen and enjoyed; otherwise, I just skip it.
I follow exactly the same "process". And there are a lot of channels that turn out they are not for me. With most of them it's clear after 2-3 reactions, but sometimes it even takes some time to decide. For example, I expect honesty and tolerance. The reactor don't have to like or dislike the same stuff I do, but I like an honest reaction. Some channels simple cut out important (to the movie) stuff, be it controversial or uncomfortable scenes. And that for me is a no-go. If someone put her/himself on the internet to react to stuff, they have to be able to stand stuff they might not like. Just pretending it's not there is not the way to go.
Suggestions:) Don't let your drive for success, destroy your success. Respect everything movie wise. Understand the times to understand the movie. George touched on this a bit, remember you're looking at things from the center. What I mean is your basing everything through what you've experienced, as we get older we gain the ability to look at things from the outside of are experience. Be true to yourselves. When the passion is gone is the show over? Buy more expensive wine you worked hard for it! Respect yourself, or others won't respect you. Once again only suggestions :)
Good to see love for Denis Villeneuve's work. I can't wait for his future take on "Rendezvous with Rama", as a year ago it was announced that he will start working on it.
Hey guys... I'm a sailor, and live on my sailboat, so I watch a lot of UA-cam. Somehow you're my most viewed ":channel " (?),and I really enjoy the content. I'm 62 years old ( context ) and find it interesting to see the current generation's reaction to some of my favorite movies. Kinda like watching with friends, but I gotta say , I'd have a difficult time having a conversation with Simone. Love her. She's cute, and quirky ,and fun, but damn... I find it highly amusing to watch, but don't think I'd enjoy participating. Probably because I couldn't keep up. Regardless.... congratulations on 100,000 subscribers, I honestly enjoy the content ,I get a better preview of things I haven't seen and may,or not, potentially watch em. Thanks ! Looking forward to 2023. Want a chuckle? Watch "Captain Ron" , or "A Beautiful Mind" for something more dramatic. Capt.Bob, SV ( Sailing Vessel ) ,27th Chance, Tampa Fl, USA 🇺🇸 PS: sure... a channel of George watching Simone explaining a movie. Crazier things have worked.
I wonder if some of the poor performing (really good movies) are because of people not seeing them yet and not wanting to get spoiled. I know that's why I haven't watched your reactions to "Everything... All at once" or "Maverick" (I just saw it in the theater last week, so now I can watch your reaction.)
When I look for reactions I rarely search for a specific movie, I simply search for 'movie reaction', and if I come across a reaction to a movie I enjoy, I'll watch it. I personally LOVE it when I come across reactions to movies that not a lot of people have reacted to. I get so tired of seeing the same movies pop up as search results all the time. There are so many amazing movies out there that it's a bit of a shame that everyone always does the same movies, even if they are very popular classics. I know it's a balancing act because of course you want the views, but at the same time, you might get some new viewers by watching some more underrated movies.
Honestly my biggest problem with reaction channels is that everyone watches the same movies but u cant blame no one cuz thats what the people want, there are so many movies that id like to see reactions to but they just wouldnt perform well so it cant be done such as blood in blood out and midnight in paris
I’d like more people to watch LOTR and The Exorcist. Not enough of em I’m joking but I can actually watch unlimited amounts of people watching the LOTR trilogy.
@@Reblwitoutacause theres 2 movies that come 2 mind right off the top of my head 1 is called blood in blood out a prison movie from the 90s with a stacked cast and the is midnight in paris another movie no one talks about with a giant cast of stars
I tend to watch all of the movies with you except for if it’s a movie that I haven’t seen yet or one that I’m not the biggest fan of. I feel like more 80’s hits is the way to go. The Lethal Weapon series is a must to continue and I know you guys have 2 coming out. I feel like 80’s cheese is the best to react to because it’s very different than the time you guys were growing up and watching TV. You guys should definitely have a random person that is chosen once a week based on best comment you saw from the previous week’s videos. It’s a win win. Someone gets their movie reacted to and you get more comments in the chats. Either way I’m here for the energy and love you both. I connect with George’s sense of humor and love Simone’s reactions to his reactions and comments. So many gems from George. 😂
I think the most heartbreaking scene ever is from "Jojo Rabbit" when you see the shoes hanging. I don't remember any other movies that puts me on a similar ride of emotions.
I love your channel because you vids like this. Not all reaction channels do this kind of round up of the movies they watch. Here’s to another year of reactions 🍻❤
Definitely agree with George about Apocalypse Now; I saw it in the early 80s and it had a profound effect on me. I can't imagine the vibe on the set -- it must have been an incredible experience for everyone involved despite all the issues that plagued the film. If you haven't seen it, Hearts of Darkness is an excellent documentary about the making of the film that shows what happens when an artistic vision is pursued at (almost) any cost. Looking forward to see what 2023 will bring from you both: I'd love to see you react to A Serious Man by the Coen brothers.
Loved this! We took notes. Arrival and Contact are two of my favorites of all time, and Good Will Hunting is PERFECT. Since you love Robin Williams, do check out The Fisher King. It also stars Jeff Bridges from one of your favorite movies George! Barely anybody has reacted to this award winning movie. Take Care and sending all our best for you in the New Year!
I tend to look for movies I recently watched. I don't think "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" was a popular movie. I don't think a lot of people heard about it let alone seen it, but was glad to share that experience. I was overjoyed to see Amelie pop up in your feed. It's a foreign film and there are not a lot of people that like watching foreign films. Sometimes I see movies in other feeds and hope to see you watch them, however, that shine fades with time and you forget about the movie.
I loved the movie but hadn't heard of it until it was available on streaming for a bit. The only reason I heard about it was due to a brief mention of Corridor Crew. I loved the movie, but know no one personally that has seen it. Despite me telling them to. I guess it comes down to who has seen the movie and also watch this channel.
Just want to say it's been a pleasure discovering you two, and watching you over the year. The way you two bounce off of each other is fun as hell and is one of the reasons that, for me, you tower above every other reaction channel I've checked out. Long may it continue. Also watch "God Bless America," or "You, The Living" ^_^
George, totally get what you're talking about at 12:20 - I think about that too. It's the gap between "I loved that movie at the time, thought it was great" and "I think about that movie a lot, a long time after I saw it." I enjoy plenty of films in the moment but there are just a few that really stick with me. (And that's different too from films like Hunt For Red October where I've just seen it rebroadcast so many times that I can quote the whole thing from the first line to the last.) Those movies that really switched something on in my brain are the ones that I really enjoy seeing reaction videos for - I want to see if others have the same reaction, and maybe help myself understand why it affected me so much. (Amelie is 100% one of those, by the way.)
Hey guys, 1. Thank you for your reviews, you two are awesome. and 2. Regarding "Amalie" and "Everything Everywhere..." I realize that you need the views for the channel BUT it is nice that you do an art-film every now and then because A: they deserve to be reacted to and B: it may mean someone who didn't consider it will go check it out. ALSO: Simone - if you liked Amalie I think there is a good chance you would like "Leolo" (1992) - not asking you to do a reaction to it, but please check it out. Anyway - HAPPY NEW YEAR guys.
i usually look for reactions of classic nostalgic movies i grew up loving so mainly 80s & 90s movies, its like re-living the experience of watching em for the first time through others and is interesting to see their point of view. you two are great btw i always enjoy your reactions
This is better than the Oscar's. NOT even joking. I know that's a low bar but it's a total compliment. Love you both, and your channel. Keep up the great work in 2023, I can't wait! 💙 💙
Do you think it’s possible that the numbers are lower on newer movies like EEAAO and Top Gun Maverick just because not as many people have gotten the chance to watch them yet and don’t want to be spoiled? For the record that’s why it took me a while to watch the reaction to Everything Everywhere All At Once. I was waiting for the movie to drop on streaming.
You two your top 10 lists were great! Also the fact that 3 of the movies were Coen brothers films really shows great taste! Mmmm there are more to watch lol!
You guys watched so many great films in 2022. Both of your top ten's are awesome. You guys are so fun to listen to. I'm very much looking forward to 2023. Keep doing what you do, guys. Loving it.
I don't per se search for movies I want to see reaction to, but I do search for reactors I like. What makes your channel different from so many is that you are not a solo act, so it is kind of like ease dropping on some of your friends who are movie buffs that are just having a fun time. I love that. As for the thing about the movies you just are like, "oh yeah, I love that," vs what you recall, I think it depends on the person. Some folks are all about the spectacle whereas others are all about character or overall plot. So it just kind of is up to one's fancy. I will say one that I don't see reacted to often, but is one of the movies I love and always stop on is In Bruges. It is such a black comedy that is also so character driven, but also just so well put together. I love that flick and it always gets overlooked so I'm always stoked if I find a reaction to it.
9:10 I believe John Carter (of Mars) had the same issue. It influenced so many future pieces of Sci-Fi, that when they finally did a movie of it, people felt they'd seen it all before.
For the question of what movies I like to see people react to are just the movies that I love and want others to know about and enjoy. Watching reactions helps me relive watching the first time through someone else’s eyes.
It was surreal watching "Android Night Punch" today. I made myself a note while watching this video last night and so glad I did. Alotta fun. You were great Simone. I've been watching your guys stuff for over a year now. Keep up the great content. Thanks.
Regarding what I watch for in reactions:
1) A movie I have seen.
2) It's all about recreating the feeling of watching something for the first time by watching someone else do it.
I had the same thought - a bit too new and people still wanted to see them.
Same. I haven’t had time to see maverick yet so I won’t watch reactions to it yet :/
I also tend to only watch reviews/reactions to movies for movies that I've either already seen/know well (or THINK I know really well) ... so newer movies which I haven't seen yet (or had planned on seeing at a later date) just get skipped so I dont spoil the movie for myself.
Yeah, that was the same for me. I held off watching those ones because I hadn't seen the movie yet and I didn't want to spoil it.
Same. I remember that they have reacted to it for later and then go back and watch the reaction video once I've seen the movie.
The reactions I seek out are not necessarily those with jaw-dropping moments… but those movies that I genuinely love as a whole and it feels like I'm sharing it with them .
The only reason I didn’t watch your EEAAO reaction yet is because I still haven’t seen it and didn’t want to spoil it.
Love you guys!
Same
Agreed.
Same
It's very good. Hope you get to watch it soon.
Yup, pretty much the only reason I'll skip a reaction.
I think the reason why “everything everywhere all at once” performed poorly is probably because it’s new and a lot of people haven’t seen it. I tend like to watch reactions of things Ive seen.
Exactly! I just said the same. I haven't seen the movie
It would spoil a movie if you wanted to see it, and you kind of won't really get it anyway.
It's almost as if 'number of views' is a TERRIBLE indicator of quality! ;)
Agree!
Maybe they could do that to promote stuff ahead of the release of each reaction video?
Yeah, that’s a good one!
So true
simone's reaction to amelie was so genuine. amelie is my favorite film of all time and seeing people connect to it deeply is rare
For Simone wine fund, you should be able to get at least a $12 bottle so here is the other $5 for next shop 😃 Maybe you could consider the movie Predestination (2014), it is a great time travel movie with an interesting premise but so few reactions on UA-cam, my favourite movie is Lord of the Rings and Shawshank Redemption is in my top 10, reactions even rewatches are good 😃
Thanks Lee!! ☺️
@CineBinge React I really hope you guys react to 'spaced' someday, all the cornetto trilogy faces are in it 😉
You guys are one of the few reaction channels where I specifically watch for your reactions, regardless of what the movie is.
"Mean Girls surprised me." OK. We need to get them to watch Heathers. Now.
Simone: "You can't get mad at someone for liking art you don't like."
The internet: "Okay, here's where you're wrong..."
Lmao
But try disliking anything that goes against your beliefs, and you’re labelled as “-phobic” or “-ist” 🤷🏽
Hate is not "a difference of opinion" & intolerance of bigotry is not oppression.
I don't search for specific movies but usually return to my favorite reactors and you guys are absolutely in my top 3
Simone, as a Frances McDormand fan, I hope you have watched "Three billboards outside Ebbing Missouri." She's brilliant in that!
Simone needs to describe the last movie they watched at the beginning of each new video lol. So good.
I second that. Especially if she's a little bit drunk. This is hilarious.
Yes do a 'Previously On...'!
100%
YES!
I watch a good many movies and was surprised at how many of your favs I haven't seen yet. I guess I've got some homework to do but I'll be back to watch all of your great reactions!
I love cinebinge! One of my favorite channels rn. So wholesome and comfy
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE reaction was my gateway drug to yalls channel
PLEASE do a "Best of" video with Simone's intros! There were some real gems this year 😁 Also, George's reaction to her intros are COMEDY GOLD!
Absolutely yes!!!
Thanks so much Mickey!!
Amelie was absolutely a huge hit and recieved heaps upon heaps of praise when it was released. It's just been 20 years.
As one who personally doesn't care for romcoms, I loved Amelie. Such a quirky, feel-good film.
A splitting maul and an axe are two different things. The back end of a splitting maul is the same as a sledge. That's what it was for Misery
Jesus kiddo get something better than 7.99 on me. HAPPY NEW YEAR you two!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉
Happy new year!! and Thank you!!
For me, a lot of it is trying to recapture my own first experience of watching a film. So if I haven't seen a film before, I tend not to watch abreaction to it; especially if it's a new film I want to watch in the future.
The reasons I watch reactions:
Yeah, same. Don't want to watch a reaction to a movie I haven't seen yet, especially a popular movie that everyone is saying you should see.
2 a week, make me anticipate it, too much content I dont have time for,
My favourite thumbnails are the ones with both of you in them as you're a team, and my heart breaks a little to see most of them without George.
That’s probably George being humble lol
The best exception is True Lies
I'd say my favorite thumbnails of the last year are A Clockwork Orange, Deadpool 2, Dumb and Dumber, Mean Girls, and Kung Fu Hustle. Great job, George.
thumbnails (yes three)
Just Simone: The Goonies
Just George: Ghost
Both: Curse of the Black Pearl
Reaction moment from both of you.; John Wick.
Simone if you want another stellar performance from Francis McDormond you have got to watch Three Billboards from Epping Missouri! Absolutely epic!!
Simone disliking The Hunt for Red October cuts really deep 🤧
That was a surprise to me as well
Instant big nah. She also said Space was stupid in that Q&A vid from the other day, which is just what. What. How can you say Space is stupid and you hate Space. Just man. Terrible, terrible taste on that girl sometimes. Thank god for George
I guess that's just Simone thing. My wife of the same name dislikes Red October as well 😂
Guys tend to like Tom Clancy stuff way more than women, in my unscientific untested opinion.
@@Drax514 you realize people have different opinions and like different stuff right?
You do have a great range in genres, so I would encourage you to keep it up
Happy New Year!
The difference between Simone and George describing different movies is amazing 😂😂 I love how both your brains work lol
There would be no The Matrix without Dark City - phenomenal
Also City of Lost Children for me has some dark city vibes. From same director as Amelie.
Oh, "Stange Days", that's the "cyber-memory-implant-drugs"-one from Kathryn Bigelow, right? Damn, completely forgot about that movie. But I remember I loved it when it came out.
Yes it is with Miss Jullette Lewis
Huh, Strange Days is not available streaming (according to JustWatch), but DVD and Blu-rays still available on Amazon at not-crazy-collector prices.
Recently came across you guys, love your chemistry and content. Love your work from Australia!
”Intelligence without pretension”! That’s it! That’s an excellent way to put it.
i thank you for this channel, its always fun to watch how Simone & George react to movies. and i hope channel will expand to games. i love the layout of this channel, its normal not too shiny, it is relaxing, and laughter burst that Simone and George have in vids make me smile and facepalm at the same time. and i dont know it thats afilter.. but Simone has bit of a Vampire fangs. ty so much
I think that the thing about newly released movies is that there's still a lot of people who haven't seen them yet, so that is probably what contributes to lower viewcounts even if they may be very highly requested by those that have already seen it.
Awesome, I really like a recap like this. Congrats on the 100k
I truly enjoyed this upload! Please do more of these!
I wasn't a fan of reaction channels, to be honest. Until I found your channel! Your videos always put a smile on my face :).
I enjoy your channel - never change for your audience - keep being you - authentic and true to yourself. Happy New Year!
Not enough of em
I’m joking but I can actually watch unlimited amounts of people watching the LOTR trilogy.
Name names!
@@Reblwitoutacause theres 2 movies that come 2 mind right off the top of my head 1 is called blood in blood out a prison movie from the 90s with a stacked cast and the is midnight in paris another movie no one talks about with a giant cast of stars
I think some reactors see what others are doing to see what is more or less likely to be blocked.
Problem is they all watch the same films as each other in the same week
"Hearts of Darkness" is indeed a great watch, nearly as intense and fascinating a documentation than the movie itself.
Next you should try "The green Knight" from A24 :D
yeah, great movie!
What about that time when Miles Teller was dancing, though?
I tend to look for movies I recently watched. I don't think "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" was a popular movie. I don't think a lot of people heard about it let alone seen it, but was glad to share that experience. I was overjoyed to see Amelie pop up in your feed. It's a foreign film and there are not a lot of people that like watching foreign films. Sometimes I see movies in other feeds and hope to see you watch them, however, that shine fades with time and you forget about the movie.
Our cinema was packed on two different showings - one was even on a Tuesday. And they showed it on the the biggests screen there.
Everything everywhere all at once was the most talked about movie in 2022 not named top gun maverick.
Sure, that may be so, however in terms of top-grossing movies this year, it's in 35th place.
@@woo545 Box office doesn't mean everything. Avatar is trash.
An excellent Stallone movie in terms of his unexpectedly good acting is “Cop Land” from 1997.
Lock up too
George, totally get what you're talking about at 12:20 - I think about that too.
I wanna hear Simone try to explain how the TARDIS works in Doctor Who lol
New Channel: Simone Explains It All!
I think we all need that.
@@Blaskor314 Simone 'Splains Stuff!
well you see, it's bigger on the inside
Love your Channel!!!! Thanks for the q&a. I would love to see The Talented Mr. Ripley
I love yearly reviews/stats. I do them for my blog which nobody reads, but i just get such a kick out of it every year :)
You two your top 10 lists were great! Also the fact that 3 of the movies were Coen brothers films really shows great taste! Mmmm there are more to watch lol!
Ok another gift before eoy. It’s like watching friends talking movies. Thanks for 2022🎉
You guys watched so many great films in 2022.
Thanks.
