I have guppies and they are so hardy I even threw some in a tank out side with some spare plants no filter no air fed about once a week if that been there 12 months fruit and all😅
Great vid. The only thing I would add if talking to a beginner is: be knowledgeable about your water source. When first starting out it is easier to pick fish that live within the parameters of your water source instead of tackling adjustments when you are first starting. Thanks for the clip man!
It's a shame that the neon tetras have so many issues. They have such a fun and outgoing temperament for a small fish. My neons are the randiest little fish I've ever had. They zoom around my tank scattering eggs every morning 😂 I love neons, but they did have some issues when I first bought them and my black widow tetra.
Enjoyed the video, very informative. I agree that neons are a bit hit and miss to keep, but how about black neons, often overlooked but a great schooling fish and cheap to buy.
Great content as usual. I just wonder why you didn't add the common pleco, IMO a better option than CAE. Anyway, keep it up...all the way from Canada lovin' the channel.
Blake is it OK mix Platies in different colours and are they OK in planted tanks what are good fish to commune with I have bristle nose, pacific blue eye, guppies and white cloud minos
Nice video again Blake. Keep up the good work. My alternative for a German blue would be a Bolivian Ram (M. Altispinosa). Easier to keep; stronger, lower temperature and they colour up beautifully. One of the most underestimated fish in the hobby IMHO.
I'm like you, I unsuccessfully tried to keep GBR's early on. If I can ever find a strong strain of them, I'll try again. I'm stubborn that way. What do you think about Cardinal Tetras? Are they a weaker cousin of Neon's, and even farther down your list? I agree wholeheartedly about Angel fish! Always three or more. Get them young and let them grow up and pair off! Any other advice on any of these? Thanks, Blake! You're an encyclopedia of fish knowledge!!!
I think cardinals are a bit stronger than neons but they cost more and only live half as long.. if i was going to recommend a tetra it would have been cochu tetras or rummynose tetras i reckon 👍
I've had a few Angel fish and only one was a little temperamental. I've had no luck with Rams but my Kribs breed like rabbits, so I totally agree with you there.
I always hear Goldfish like it colder, too, but I keep 2 commons in with my tropical fish at 79°F and they've been growing and healthy for 3 months so far. Biggest fish in the tank.
guppies are terrible for beginners, always end up with internal parasites after the first month (maybe its just the Australia stock or my local water) swapped to neo shrimp and finding it better
Great video :D I've been wanting an angelfish for a while, what would you say is the minimum tank size for just one? I've heard 40 gallons for a pair, but the biggest tank I can have is 30 gallons at the moment. Would it be okay to have one angel in there with some other peaceful community fish? Note: I am doing lots of research on this, but there's very mixed information about tank sizes out there. I'm trying to ask as many different people as I can before I decide on whether I should get one or not, since I don't want to accidentally end up with a fish in a tank that's too small.
We dont use those measurements here in australia so im not sure what a 30 gallon is but it will probably fine if it is tall enough, ideally 18 inches tall
great video blake another alternative for guppies is endlers as they are hardier and are very similar.
Absolutely!

love your vids blake , dont ever stop making vids
Thanks mate 🙏

I agree💪😁
Good vid mate, some really nice alternative options👌
Love Praecox, but have diseases and lost most of them, not usual in my aquarium...
When i kept them they were bulletproof 🤷♂️

When I see a fish video I just click now
Rosy Barbs. They are heaps of fun and will thrive in most conditions.

Love black neons 👍 great one
great suggestions for beginners, I have been keeping nano fish for several years but did not know some species you mentioned!
apistogramma are a good beginner fish instead of ram's. but as usual good video
Love my cloud of cardinals, celestial pearl danios with neon blue rams community tank. It’s probably been my most peaceful tank.
Great content as usual. I just wonder why you didn't add the common pleco, IMO a better option than CAE. Anyway, keep it up...all the way from Canada lovin' the channel.
We dont see them all that often down herr but every pet store has CAEs
The common pleco gets to be very large.
Great video, for a few years i have been working on breeding fancy guppy colors into healthier lines of endlers for size and looks.
first 😂
A Bolivian Ram would be a good alternative to GBR's as well, they look great once they grow up a little a bit and get their colour
Yeah great one 👍
Blake is it OK mix Platies in different colours and are they OK in planted tanks what are good fish to commune with I have bristle nose, pacific blue eye, guppies and white cloud minos
Hey Sharon, yes fine to mix colours, great in planted tanks 😄
You know my experience with Angel fish 🤬🤣

Female bettas are an excellent choice of fish. I keep a small sorority in a 70l tank. It is my favourite and most entertaining tank by a mile.
Funny the first fish I bred was guppy’s after that I thought I was ready for discus but sadly the discus died I wonder why noe
Some solid good and bad ones there! I agree with all your options there, and thanks for sharing!
What Will survive with bristle nose as I have two in a 20ltr tank I was going to rehouse onto a 200 ltr I'm setting up
Pretty much any community fish
Great list mate, I could not agree more🙂👍🏻

The cardinals are stronger than neons in my experience.
Good to see the decisions I made in the very beginning were somewhat correct haha

I wish that you lived close to me because I would love to buy some kribs from you.
@@jeffalbillar7625 All Fish 2U ship fish and they have some of my bloodline there.

They do much better in cd water.
The problem with keeping them 8n warmer water is that they emit ammonia when in warm water.

Agreed, too many fall into the trap
Keeping fish simple are you guys buds?
Nope 👎

@@BlakesAquatics Thank you!
How about Cardinal Tetra? Are they hardier than Neon Tetra?
Not really, they are also more costly and only live half as long
Now
😁👍
Hi my friend, I have a 6ft amazon tank full of plants, wood and lots of Cardinal tetras, problem is snails are really taking over, what can i do?
Feeding less will reduce the population
@@BlakesAquatics ok will try, i only feed once per day but i will reduce, thanks again.👍
