    Since no measurement is ever given the speed is great. Love the laminating for contrast. Seeing how people have become so creative is the reason I am picking it back up after 15 years. Great videos. Love the toys too.

    Pen blank embedded in the wood, sheer genius!!! This is how to make pendants. Your work is beautiful! Such a clever way to use up scrap wood.
    I wish you had slowed down the gluing process. A lot to learn there too.

      There are several tips to think about before you begin your own woodworking company
      are you likely to have support from your family?
      Are you self-motivated?
      Will you stick to your plan?
      Do you have the funds to begin?
      (I read these and why they work on Enata wood system site )

    • @sowiebinich
      @sowiebinich  9 років тому +4

      Ant Mallett Heh, I'll keep that in mind. I'm working on finding my own style, and I'm trying out techniques from others to see what I like / don't like. The brass is actually from a bunch of pen blanks I got from a guy who'd already put the pen tubes in, and I thought they'd make a nice touch. Interesting idea about the olive oil container -- I'll keep that in mind!

    Awesome video, during the lathe work, about 4:45, I was wondering how difficult it would be to make a pepper mill for a scrap wood project. Or will it require special food safe wood and glue etc.?

    • @sowiebinich
      @sowiebinich  9 років тому

      +Johannes Du Plessis It's just a matter of how much time you want to spend glueing up blocks to get a blank that's big enough. To that end, I'd glue up some scraps into a few boards maybe 4" wide. Once dry, you can plane them flat and glue those boards together. You can continue that process ad nauseam :-)

      @OramiIT 7 років тому

      Glue set time always depends on the temperature and humidity of the workshop. If you want to be safe wait 24 hours plenty of time for it to set. tightbond usually sets in 4 hours or so fully cures in 24.

      +Stacisicm Twelve feet's quite a long board ;-) You're right that at some point a board is too short to run over a jointer. Ultimately, if you don't feel comfortable doing it, don't. Hand planes work just as well.

    ”Bαzοmο Tdy Plαn” (Google it) is an amazing book about woodworking. I`m a graduate of a one-year carpentry course from a local tech college. Of all books I have read during my study about carpentry, I do think this is the ideal book I have read so far. It explains everything concerning wood working as well as complements it with useful images. .

      fernando mercado The desire for more tools never ends. All of my tools are used, mostly off of craigslist. But there was a long time before I could afford many of these tools, and you'd be surprised at how far you can get with a few core hand tools: hand planes, chisels, hand saws.
      I plan to do more hand-tool-only projects in the future, but there are many more-skilled hand-tool-only woodworkers on UA-cam to watch. From Paul Sellers to Roy Underhill, inspiration is everywhere.
      Thanks for watching.
