I said this on MKBHD’s video, but I decided to gamble and upgrade from my iPhone 11 to the iPhone 13. And while I did not expect a huge upgrade, I was pleasantly surprised as to how substantial the upgrade actually was. From switching from an LCD screen to OLED to the new camera updates, the increase in storage capacity, longer battery life, and the beautiful squared-edge design, I do not have any regrets about upgrading even from a two-year-old iPhone, which was already amazing in every way.
Kind of surprised people upgrade their iPhones every 2 years, considering how well they perform in the long term. It’s their money but upgrading so often is terrible for the environment. Yes you will sell it to someone, but still, the more the consumption of goods, the more waste is created. Anyway, keeping my iPhone 11 for 4-5 years.

My coworker had an 11 pro max and it’s definitely worth the upgrade if your a power user and want the 120 hz screen, nicer camera and a brighter screen. I've had the iPhone 11 since the release in 2019. It's been a fantastic phone but after the two years of use the lcd panel has began to bother me. As a tech enthusiast I notice the under 1080p resolution on the 11 and it is the main reason I'm upgrading this year. By all means it's a wonderful phone and recommend it to anyone who doesn't care about the latest and greatest technology. p.s. my battery percentage is at 86% and still gets me through most days.
My 11 pro max is on 83% capacity. What does this mean? I have noticed my battery life decrease but I still only charge it once a day, depending on use though. I’ve had this since the first day it launched in 2019 and I won’t be upgrading anytime soon
@@jasmineaoun2816 The 83% capacity you have is the capacity of your battery compared to when you got it brand new (100% capacity). Batteries naturally degrade over time with age and battery cycles. Apple recommends you change your battery if your battery health is below 80%. I could be wrong, but I believe Apple's battery replacements aren't that expensive.
The more I watch your videos about the iPhone 13, the more I am considering my decision to upgrade from the iPhone 11. The main thing that would make me upgrade is for more storage.
I have an 11 and honestly it’s still great. And I use it most of the day and no beefs at all. The inner nerd in me though does wish I had a 13 or 13 Pro Max. They are just so cool And with the bigger battery and A15 these are gonna be long-haul phones like the 6s. And now they’ve got Oleds down like they do LCDs so I’m more comfortable there too. The 13 series does look like a home run all around.
I’m upgrading from my XR to 13! Wasn’t an easy decision because I was pretty used to the curved edges but ultimately I was sold on the OLED display and the camera plus If I’m upgrading I might as well get the newest one since I’ll be keeping it for a couple of years.
Got my iphone 11 recently and I honestly love this phones. I’ve wanted an iphone since the 6 was released. Anyway, i hate the squared edges of the 12 and 13 because they are not ergonomic. Will hang on to my 11 for some few years until apple stops updating it.
My boyfriend had the iPhone 11. I had the iPhone 8. I am reselling my iPhone 8 and I got his iPhone 11 and he got the iPhone 13 pro max. I love the 11 and he loves the 13. I love mine because I never had a phone without a home button and face-id. He already had and he loves the 120hz and the camera’s. Both our reasons.
I went from the iPhone 11 to the 13 pro max, I used to be a Samsung user and I can very obviously tell the difference between the oled and lcd screen panels, it was a. pain noticing how my 11 couldn't even produce videos in 1080P with its low screen resolution. I was happy to see apple upgrade to a 120hz display.
I had my Purple 11 since 2019 but recently it started having mechanical issues so I had to upgrade to the Purple 12. Now I’m gonna wait for the 14. It’s not worth the upgrade @ all. They both are amazing phones. I do really miss my 11 tho.
the price for the 11 certainly did not go down, even after the 13 came out. 256 gb is still around $750 and even a refurbished is ridiculously high. If you're going to spend that much I guess people will want the newest one???? Freaking crazy...
the primary reason to upgrade an iphone for myself is the battery perfromance. As far as the battery is fine for my daily use I keep it which is generally a minimum of 3 years. The only exception was Iphone 5 which I had to upgrade after 1.5 years as the battery was terrible.
I've been using android for over a year now and prior to that I was using my iphone 6 from 2014 to end 2019. The home button wasn't functioning anymore but assistive touch helped me through. I had my eyes on iphone 11 for a long time and the huge drop on the price range really doubted me if I should go for the 13s or 11 itself. Bought myself a 13 and learning to love it.
Yea upgrade…I’m an 11 user getting a 13 tommorrow..5G, better camera, insanely better battery life, it’s square, much lighter, smaller notch, and significantly front display. If you have the money absolutely do it
It comes down to battery health. I have iPhone 11 at 87% and iPhone 12 Pro 100% capacity Don’t feel the need to upgrade with both phones still at peak performance. If battery health goes down to 70% that’s the trigger.
Much cheaper just to spend $50 for a new battery than pay much more for a new phone. I don’t get the logic once your battery goes down you have to turf the phone if the processor still works great and is still OS supported which it will be for several more years.
Actually, I play music straight from my phone speakers all the time. For me, the speakers are not something I would forget about. After hearing my dads 11 and my sisters 13 Mini, I was impressed at the quality improvement over just 2 years. (Edit) I got the 13 Pro and I love it!
@@rmcf3972 it is hard to tell you, because it depends on your case. If you don’t have a lot of money, or none of the newer features interest you, then probably not worth it. But if you are coming from an older iPhone or an Android, it is a bigger upgrade and you might consider it. It really depends on what fits your needs. Also keep in mind that the iPhone 11 is still a very powerful phone.

@@nickackermanchannel apparently the 13 changed the internals significantly and the 14 will chnage the outside significantly but not the inside as much
I still have my iPhone 11, and as a former Verizon sales agent… there is truly nothing different between the 11-12-and 13. Yes, the processor is slightly faster with each new generation, but it’s not enough to make it a wow factor. I will keep my 11 until a new generation comes that truly makes me say “I need this”. Let’s see what apple brings to the table with the 14 series.
Have the Xr since 2018 and had 13 Pro on my hand it‘s not worth it. Full Display without Notch Touch ID and without lightning would worth it. Upgrade only for 120hz ? I wouldn‘t. Wait for iPhone 14 with new design 😅
The only reason I upgraded my XR is because it had an overheating and shut down problem. I can tell you that there really isn't that much diff rence in performance. The 13 has a better D I play, but unless you are a tech geek, you are not going to care. I really wanted to keep the XR for 2 more years. I hope the 13 lasts 5 years.
@@HALWG51 honestly that’s one of the reasons I want the 13 pro max. That screen lol never owned a phone with an Super Retina XDR display I’ve always had LCD. Idk for myself I the upgrades are pretty worth it.
I upgraded from the iPhone XR to the 13 and I have to admit the display is better. Also, battery is much better. I believe that the 13 isn't much of an upgrade over the 11.
I also got the iPhone 13 pro max, 128gb in white/silver. i did an unboxing and test video on my channel! if anyone has been debating on getting it. GET IT, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!! i love mine and it was worth every penny, lol. i love these kinds of videos, thanks for sharing!
I think you missed few significant updates from 11 to 13. I'm using 64GB iphone 11, after I had to deleted some apps&photos, I have like 3GB left. when the storage is almost full, the system runs slower and crashes sometimes. So upgrade to a 128GB phone is really important especially when price is fair. Also, the iphone 11 has poor signal and poor battery life, which effects my daily uses. Could be done by apple on purpose though, but I chose to upgrade.
I know Samsung and LG are looking at discontinuing LCD production completely in the next 12 - 18 months according to some reports. Its part of migrating to miniLED and eventually microLED. I can probably hold onto my 11 Pro since it will get iOS 16. I also have an 8 as a backup. I would trade the 8 in for the 14 and keep my 11 Pro as my leapfrog backup. I am 56 and am looking at ending all tech acquisitions when I am 65 so I figure that is the 14 and maybe the 16 or 18 if I keep the 14 for four years or 5. This would then be my final phone. That should take me all the way to iOS 20!
My iPhone 11 contract is up so I can either get a contract for the 13 or I can pay off my 11(for 200 dollars) and keep it until it breaks. I really wanted to wait for a few more years to upgrade cause this 11 is a beast!! It’s amazing. But I think getting another contract is best in this situation.
I’ve had a the iPhone 11 for about 2 years And I miss having a large screen(came from the S10+) so I want to get the 13 pro max withers bigger battery and the refresh rate is something I haven’t experienced yet.

It is top notch, just a little older - I love my 11 Pro Max, the only reason I’m getting the 13 Pro Max is because I just want it, I definitely don’t need it
Yes you should 100 percent upgrade especially with the 800 dollar off promos these carriers are running for trade in. 800 essentially makes a normal base 13 free.. Also 800 off a pro or a pro max makes those phones affordable.. I traded my Regular 11 for a 13 Pro Max. Much better screen, battery and faster. Also everyone saying there battery health is still 92-94 percent after a year. There’s no way.. mine was 81 percent after 18 months. So I wonder how these 11 owners are maxing battery like that..
I’d like to see an “iPhone XR vs. iPhone 13” comparison video. I know you did a speed test between the two a few weeks ago, but I also would like to see a more in-depth comparison :)
the difference is something that you can easily overlook, since a new phone is not the only thing that i am aiming for, going for an iphone 11 or even the 10r is more than worth it for me, once i get the phone and other things that i have in mind, i can save some money, sell my old phone, and boom iphone 15 or wtv comes next idk
I upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 13 mini. When I moved to iPhone 11 I wanted the mini but was not available and was worried about battery life of the iPhone 12 mini. So if you want a smaller phone I think it is worth the upgrade in terms of the mini, battery life is the same. So people who wanted a smaller phone upgrading is worth it, plus mini likely not available in the iPhone 14.

I just got this phone 3 days ago and I love it
11 pro max to 13 pro. Ram management and 120 hz refresh rate for me.
iPhone 11 to the 13 pro :)
They are just so cool
And with the bigger battery and A15 these are gonna be long-haul phones like the 6s. And now they’ve got Oleds down like they do LCDs so I’m more comfortable there too. The 13 series does look like a home run all around.
I’m considering it too. I need a better battery. I’m such a. Phone nerd
Bought the iPhone 11 this May and love it a lot!
I upgraded from iPhone XS to iPhone 13 pro and it's a nice upgrade
I can use the 799$ for something else. I'm still keeping iphone 11 black color. It's a 128gb ROM
I'll go from a 4 year old android to 13 pro max. I have so much hypeeee
Sure you can play 1080 videos on iPhone 11
@@sandraperez2117 you cant
@@Jcmronn you can do it even on XR lol
@@FUUUUU1111 you cant, it just has the option available but it doesnt really change.
I had my Purple 11 since 2019 but recently it started having mechanical issues so I had to upgrade to the Purple 12. Now I’m gonna wait for the 14. It’s not worth the upgrade @ all. They both are amazing phones. I do really miss my 11 tho.
What kind of mechanical issues
Fix them at the apple store or trade them in for iphone 13
@@chickenlurkinyungchihuahua apple store really don’t fix your phone🤣

I’m an 11 user. Bought 13 pink last December and sold it after 2 weeks. Wasn’t happy at all. Went back to my solid 11. ♥️
why did you not like it?
the price for the 11 certainly did not go down, even after the 13 came out. 256 gb is still around $750 and even a refurbished is ridiculously high. If you're going to spend that much I guess people will want the newest one???? Freaking crazy...
Where do you live?
Of course the low price. And a lot!!
i will still enjoy may 11promax 256gb till iphone 18 comes
I watched this so many times thank u so much I was getting the iPhone 13 but instead I would rather get the 11 I’m gonna tell my mom how much it is
the primary reason to upgrade an iphone for myself is the battery perfromance.
I have an iPhone 11 and I just upgraded to the 13 Pro. I’m so so excited.
Yea upgrade…I’m an 11 user getting a 13 tommorrow..5G, better camera, insanely better battery life, it’s square, much lighter, smaller notch, and significantly front display. If you have the money absolutely do it
Updated from XR to 13. Love it 👍
It comes down to battery health.
11 to the 13 pro yes!! if not then see what apple does next sept.
My thoughts too.
Actually, I play music straight from my phone speakers all the time. For me, the speakers are not something I would forget about. After hearing my dads 11 and my sisters 13 Mini, I was impressed at the quality improvement over just 2 years.
(Edit) I got the 13 Pro and I love it!
Is it worth upgrading from 11 to 13 pro? I am on 11.
Also keep in mind that the iPhone 11 is still a very powerful phone.
the most wanted review
because i got iphone 11 6 months ago and i was full of regret !
i really wish i could buy iphone max bu i cant afford it - too expensive
i will keep my iphone 11 so !
thanks for the wanted video Nick
Big fan of you from Egypt
Just changed to 13 pro from 11 pro. I honestly don’t even think it’s refinement.
Screen seems dimmer yellowing (with true tone ..etc turn off )
Photos look pretty much the same unless darker or side by side
Overall maybe coz of pandemic i honestly think 12 and 13 don’t live up to the apple brand
Where as 11 still has great build bigger batter than 12
I’d say wait a year for the 14’s with the supposed Redesign.
Well, that never happened 😂
@@laangelsfan Yuup 😆
Thanks Sir, you are a master in explaining, you make me change my decision to upgrade my xr ,cause as you said it still does the job.
unless your 11 is broken or on its last legs in some way you may as well wait another year or 2.
My dad got me the iPhone 11 as a late Christmas gift in 2019 then he said he would get me the 13 if I got an 85 or more in grades!! :))
Shouldn't.. because iPhone 11 still a great phone. Its still have a same look and function just have a little bit upgrade. Unless you have a lot of money then you can change your iphone every year.
The 14 will probably be the bigger update
@@nickackermanchannel apparently the 13 changed the internals significantly and the 14 will chnage the outside significantly but not the inside as much

I still have my iPhone 11, and as a former Verizon sales agent… there is truly nothing different between the 11-12-and 13. Yes, the processor is slightly faster with each new generation, but it’s not enough to make it a wow factor. I will keep my 11 until a new generation comes that truly makes me say “I need this”. Let’s see what apple brings to the table with the 14 series.
Brother what is your battry health now? i have still 96 percent
@@Zuri1181 2 and a half years later my battery life is at 91%! And it amazes me because I abuse this phone. I use it practically all day.
Please do one in the XR to the 13 next!
XR is still working great in 2021-2022 don’t worry
I really only want the 13 pro max I’m eager to have an iPhone with 120 refresh lol also the cameras as well.
Keeping my 11 they to much the same the biggest update was the shape of the phone
I bought iPhone 11 and I couldn't be happier
I have a 128GB iPhone 11 and I Will not upgrade until the iPhone 15
I upgraded from the iPhone XR to the 13 and I have to admit the display is better. Also, battery is much better. I believe that the 13 isn't much of an upgrade over the 11.
I also got the iPhone 13 pro max, 128gb in white/silver. i did an unboxing and test video on my channel! if anyone has been debating on getting it. GET IT, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!! i love mine and it was worth every penny, lol. i love these kinds of videos, thanks for sharing!
I’m using an 11. I wanna go for the 13pro max. The only thing keeping from upgrading is the fact it’s sold out every where.
I’ll be getting 13 pro from iPhone 11
Had to go with the Green iphone 13 as soon as it came out, looks so clean
Feel like the 13 pro features just isn’t justifiable enough, might be better to wait for the 14
personally 120hz is justifiable to me
i ordered a 11 pro max yesterday :P
My iPhone 11 contract is up so I can either get a contract for the 13 or I can pay off my 11(for 200 dollars) and keep it until it breaks. I really wanted to wait for a few more years to upgrade cause this 11 is a beast!! It’s amazing. But I think getting another contract is best in this situation.
I was hesitant at first cause I loved my 11 but I’m pretty impressed by the 13 pro
Using android 8yrs plus ..In android i saw iphone 11 videos …now i own iphone 11 already two months ! 😅the caption hit me hard
It’s a must do for me personally because my iPhone 11 doesn’t even work anymore
I'm from Malaysia
Before this i use ip11 but i change to ip13 due of the size and display and also camera...so far i very enjoy used ip13
I had the 11 pro max and I upgraded to the base model 13
I’ve had a the iPhone 11 for about 2 years And I miss having a large screen(came from the S10+) so I want to get the 13 pro max withers bigger battery and the refresh rate is something I haven’t experienced yet.
Currently have a 11 base. Ordered my 13 pro max 256gb a week ago. Excited to say the least!!!
It’ll be nice but heavy like a brick especially when adding a case lol
@@Ohkeh640 update not heavy at all. Have a leather case with the Apple wallet feels great! Happy your claim was false

i just bought an 11 and i loveeeee it tbe weughthe design the battery it's amazing
The thing that bothers me most about the 11, is the lack of an OLED display.
Definitely miss the rounded edges 😢
I just scooped an 11 pro max and It feel like top notch apple to me looooool
It is top notch, just a little older - I love my 11 Pro Max, the only reason I’m getting the 13 Pro Max is because I just want it, I definitely don’t need it
Great review.. thank you!
Honestly i like the design on 11 than 12 13 iphones 🔝
Same
nah 12 and 13 design looks much more premium
I’d like to see an “iPhone XR vs. iPhone 13” comparison video. I know you did a speed test between the two a few weeks ago, but I also would like to see a more in-depth comparison :)
Perfect video for me, im currently using iPhone 11
Funny for some reason I had to go from a 11 (white) to a 13 (blue). My 11 really feels sturdy and heavy. Really feels like my life can depend on it
I’m still on a X, while my battery is degrading I’m still waiting for a true redesign. I’m tempted for the 13 but I’m tired of the design
Get the battery replaced and your phone will have much better battery life and performance. That should also hold you until they make a redesign.
Wait for s22 if you want true redesign lol
I think you'll last even longer if you just replace the battery
@@peca2424
S22 isn't really a Redesign .... they just take the Note's Squarish design
Lol, The 13 Pro Max, Has better Battery life than the S22 and the S21
I’m tradin my 11 in to tmobile and getting the 13 pro, it’s such a great deal and I need to experience the 120 hertz refresh rate
the difference is something that you can easily overlook, since a new phone is not the only thing that i am aiming for, going for an iphone 11 or even the 10r is more than worth it for me, once i get the phone and other things that i have in mind, i can save some money, sell my old phone, and boom iphone 15 or wtv comes next idk
Think il hold onto my 11 until next year when the 14 comes out
I upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 13 mini.
How much screen on time with 50% usage?
I cancelled s22 plus preorder.
Waiting for the refund ,
Will get iphone 13! ❤️
Just so people know the iPhone 13s bezzle is smaller but it gos down into the screen more than the 11
