I place the light fairly far away... maybe 75 feet so it has a nice wide cast. Setting variables?

Been considering using these for a while so many thanks. Quick question are they mounted on anything and I assume you place them just out of frame?
The one outside the cabin is on a tiny tripod as is about 20 feet to the right of the camera... the one inside I just set on the ground
