Bikepacking Iceland Part 2.....ummm, Hike-A-Bike and Running Out Of Water???
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 лис 2020
- Just when we thought this Bikepacking Iceland trip couldn't get any more extreme, we hit a major sand section on day 3. Of course we aired down our tires which allowed us to ride some of the sections, but it was a long stretch and we ended up resorting to hike-a-bike in some places.
Finally, in this episode we get into the meat and potatoes of Iceland and start out on our almost 1000km journey. From water crossings, sand, rock, glaciers, and volcanos, we get to experience everything Iceland has to offer and then some, and all by bike of course.

I was going to wait until all the trip clips were out and binge-watch them but I couldn't. I ended up watching part 2 as soon as I could! I don't know if the videos are already edited and done, but I wish if you could add some more riding footage. I love the riding parts the most! It's alright if the videos are longer I think. Thank you for sharing the trip with us!
Amazing scenery and well documented. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Your documentary is so inspiring!!! Iceland has been my dream destination for years.
You all look like you are having so much fun. It is a breath of fresh air to see friends living a dream and enjoying every minute. The scenery is amazing for what I have seen. 1 thing that is upsetting, is that you ended on a cliff hanger. Now I feel like I must wait till next week to see what happens. LOL. I wish I could have seen the Strava numbers for this trip. Anyway, to keep this short. This looks amazing and is now causing me to plan more trips to check out new areas to ride. Thank You
I bikepacked Iceland alone and I don’t think I could ever repeat that mentally. It definitely helps with close friends laying close to you in a isolated unforgiving space such as Iceland.
Thanks for sharing!!! Highs, highs and some lows...mostly highs...nature is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing this adventure. You and the guys look like you had an amazing time. You're the greatest.
Incredible journey! Thank you for sharing your experience!
Great trip! What an adventure! Thanks for sharing.
I first saw Chris's mini-film and it's great to watch this trip again with a more personal POV.
What an adventure! Amazing. Thanks Emily and Red Bull for sharing.
What an amazing adventure! The scenery is beautiful! Reminds me of some of the scenery we saw while riding the Great Trail this summer! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Wow! Beautiful scenery! It definitely looked super challenging on all levels! Not only physical but also mental!
What a cool video & adventure. Thks for give me this escape with your vlog & I hope I can do something like this one days. I also ride bicycle. Can’t wait the next episode ! 😊
The BP Pad Thais is SOOOO good! Not my only video takeaway but…. Love these videos. Watching again. And will again
Stunning!!! Please show more and longer cycling clips. A longer vlog is welcomed! Epic adventure!
the Level of stuff you brought to sleep in cabins is mind boggling.
And if you don't make it to the cabin?
@@sunesnigel Eat lip gloss and wait for the support car?
@@000cpike yeah i didn't know there was a support car/film crew car or whatever it is.
@@000cpike this made me chuckle
Ah! Livin my dream right here y'all! Riding extreme too, goin hard! What. A. Life. So humbled WOW!🙌💛🌵☀🌌✨
Keep sharing , love it
Super cool trip. I got to ride there a few years ago. You are correct, it's like riding on another planet.
Thanks for sharing your adventures.
It was fun to follow your trip through Chris Burkad's IG stories and now through your videos. Looking forward to the next one.
You guys rock!!! Bikepacking is definitely my next thing. I hiked the Laugavegur trail 2 years ago...went there 2 more times! There's something about that island! haha!
Amazing views and Great video as always. Happy Trails 😎🤘
Amazing, you guys really rock !!!
Super cool vlog ! Keep it up Emily i look forward to more content from you!
@Emily Batty and crew, you all are heroes!!
Cool. Dream bikepacking destination indeed!
AHHH! No little foot bridges over theses streams? When your used to racing or biking fast you really need a new mind set to bike for 5+ hours and then 10 Hours is a whole different level, I've never been at that level. Very impressive.
What a very cool adventure, Luke claims he would love this and wishes he did more riding when we were on the road.
It is getting even more interesting in the second episode, love it ;) Why do I have to start organizing our next biketrip immediately :p ? Awesome job folks!
Que lugar mais lindo.. Gostei muito da aventura. Parabéns Emily e sua equipe. Uhuuuu 😃😃😃
Amazing!!!
Wow very cool...Iceland looks like another planet...happy to have found your channel 🇨🇦🙂 p.s. you guys are beasts!
This is wonderful video
lovely place
beautiful scenery
take care always
Epic adventure Emily!
I am blown away by the number of different jackets you have Emily ! Views are really great.
Iceland is hard cycling. I did a long solo 4 week trip back in 2000, but amazing, favourite trips up there...Iceland also breaks stuff, as you have found out..
Awesome Emily👌🏼
Reall nice trip!
You guys are all bad ass!
Awesome!
Great vid well done 👍
I always carry some electrical insulation tape for strapping repairs not sure what you all it?
perfect way to star the morning....... !!!!
Amazing trip :)
Blown away by the fact she used the racing bike as a bikepacking rig.
When you have a hammer, everything is a nail.
Great video Emily
Aaah, the ski strap - works for just about anything in any place. Lots of gear on those bikes, but think that might be smart in Iceland!
Emily you are wonderful!!!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Your editing on video is awesome. What editing SW do you use ?
Epic...do I spy a prototype tailfin.cc dyneema trunk bag on your journey? On one of the guy’s bike.
👍
"Incredible scenery..." - is when Emily is with her smile in the frame ;).
Simp
That's what I was thinking, where's the scenery shots? I wanted to see what Iceland looks like.
💩 got real! So much planning and we are finally riding across Iceland 😝 If you didn't catch episode 1, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/BcX4m-6s4es/v-deo.html
Were the support vehicle and camera crew with you through the trip? The trip looked great.
What size tires did you put on the supercaliber?
Lovely 👏 Did you use GoPro for the self shots ?
Love your blue jacket. Where did you buy it?
My dream vacation
Where can I buy a redbull helmet?
Great content! But doesnt it defeat the purpose of bikepacking if there is a car constantly with you?
car is just for videographers and photographers, all riders are carrying their own stuff
@@AllyITA she has so many different clothes so i doubt the car doesnt carry any her stuff
4:34 "It's my shoulders and my neck. and my lower back [that are fatigued]".
That's why you shouldn't ride a bike with a backpack. Bikes have racks exactly to avoid that.
Let the bike carry the weight and save your body from the pain.
nice
Hey Emily - what's the model of your helmet please?
Emily, thanks for sharing.,.. Next time, drop the back pack. After trying it years ago, when building for my first Tour Divide run, I found it made a massive difference in my body. Now, the top portion of my frame bag is where is put my water.
It's refreshing to see such a sharp minded woman in such an enjoyable environment. Love it.
Emily, couldn't you have asked Trek to borrow a 1120? Seems like a more suitable bike for the task at hand :)
It cracked me up that the dry bag rip happened on an 1120. I really like the bike other than the proprietary rack. Gotta wonder if a rock got passed up through that cage and ripped the bag. Weight centralization is great and all, but a minimal cage placed right where rocks and stuff get ejected sometimes seems a bit spicy in terrain with sharp rocks.
Music name plz
Rule nr1 of bike packing: don't take a back pack. Everything should go ON the bike.
Ditch the foam roll. Just a tennis ball. That should help.
Just in time to watch with my reheated pizza!!
There’s a pizza place in the middle of nowhere?

There's these amazing things called GoPro cameras. They actually allow you to film while on the bike. You can get mounts for your helmets and handle bars and even one that mounts to your chest. Believe it not, they're even water proof and shock proof in case you crash! Maybe something to consider before your next adventure. Then you can actually film more riding and scenery and not just use your iphone when you take breaks. No...but seriously...more riding and scenery please. Less table selfies. Check out some of the GMBN & Ryan Vanduzer Bike Packing videos for inspiration. The adventure looks awesome...you guys did some beastly rides...we just want to see more of what you experienced!
An alternative video of this trip with more interesting riding shots: ua-cam.com/video/ZpPabcMNLJ0/v-deo.html
Most important thing on an iceland bikepacking trip: being make upped 🤷♂️
It's for you.
What’s the food? Can’t make out the name.
Happy yak
Kinda thought bikepacking was about carrying your home on your bike...no camera crew or support...no luxury cabins?
I always thought planing and going on a trip was about doing whatever you wanted to do, bringing who and whatever you wanted to bring, seeing what you wanted to see and staying where ever you want to stay?
Beautiful woman, beautiful video
Beautiful girl!
Carrying back packs on those trips is a bad idea. It looks like you have far too much gear. A sawyer mini or similar would solve your water issues
Too bad you were not there to help plan the trip...it could have been way more successful.
@@ryangregohara I'd have been lost within the first few hours or in an ambulance after that first climb and hike a bike through sand 🤮🤣🤣
The water issues were due to dry river beds. I love the Sawyer, but ya gotta have water to filter.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. And please remove that background music ... overwhelming the 37th time hearing it.
What a beautiful women and outstanding, bad ass cyclist.

We want to see more bikes and fewer people, unless you don't want new subscribers. Thank you
I think the same :S
No, no, no.....👎
