Marvel Comics HATES Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld!

- Rob Liefeld explains how he gets hate from Marvel's editorial team over the years, and it is a more common story than you'd think in the American comic book industry. Is there a reason why editorial staff seem to dislike the creators they work with? Can the comic industry continue on this path?

Most classic example of a manipulative editor gaslighting creators was Bob Harras forcing Chris Claremont off the X-titles and within 6 months his cash cow artist, Jim Lee, leaves for Image Comics.
Bob Harras is a name that pops up as a synonym for "WEASEL" in web searches...
I wonder why that is?!?
@@AvengerII Interesting that was the name of Deadpool's sidekick
@@Pork_Hunt Heh heh. Thanks for the laugh!
I'm not a Deadpool reader so I wasn't aware of his sidekick.
It really was something to behold.
We used to call them "crank call" back in the day
KIRBY is everything… these editors are idiots.
Kirby will still be relevant 50 years from now.
Half these idiot writers and editors who wrote him off are already forgotten -- and that's with Kirby being dead 30 years this past February!
Grant Morrison said Marvel was too conservative
Other than a half-dozen choices off the top of my head, I can't think of many editors that have been beneficial to the comics industry as a whole.
They just don't seem to be very useful in general. They're better at driving creatives and fans away from this industry when people get too close. It's a bit like the story of Daedalus and Icarus...
Ann Nocenti and Weezie Simonson were excellent X-editors during Claremont’s run
@@prowlprime They're the exception to the rule.
I have to hand it to Louise Simonson. She HAD to be good with scripting and deadlines, or she would never have gotten assignments on X-Factor and Superman! I did enjoy the X-Factor run she did with her husband Walt on penciling duties.
I haven't read a lot from Ann Nocenti but am aware of her work on Daredevil as well as the Longshot mini-series which I have read.
Dig your song choices for your ads in your books.
And yeah.. They got rid of the talent.. That's part of why they turned their focus on shitting on the characters that keep them all employed!
Which is why the fired Beau DeMayo from 'X-Men 97'.
Prank calls are not really the same as crank calls, but they're used interchangeably now.
Where’s Early Morning Hell #2?
Overarching story of art everywhere: The people without any talent despise and mock the artistic people that keep the place in business (and them in the job).
