- Five of the six victims of the Sydney shopping centre stabbing have been named as the public and loved ones pay tribute in Australia.
Hundreds of shoppers were evacuated on Saturday afternoon when 40-year-old Joel Cauchi - believed to be the sole suspect - was shot dead by a female police officer as she approached him from behind, before he turned and lunged at her.
Six people died and 12 others were injured, including a nine-month-old baby, after a series of stabbings at the Westfield Bondi Junction mall shopping centre near Bondi Beach.

And all because some doctor lies about what you told them and when you told them you don't have hallucinations. They put you on the mental health act and put it there because they don't believe you when you say you heard a kid being hit next door and have recordings or evidence. Mental health care is barbaric here and people are surprised? Only crazy people think this won't happen

I note women represent the larger number of the killer's victims. The sixth victim was also female. We are told that the killer had mental health issues but it appears the only man killed was a man whose job was to protect others from him and who bravely tried to do so. Mental health issues or no this killer was clearly targeting women. I hope the baby recovers.

Could also just have been avoiding anyone he thought might be able to threaten him back. Men tend to be bigger and stronger. I'd be interested in the demographics of the others injured but still alive and how many of them were women.
His dad said that he was unable to get a girlfriend, and that he was socially awkward. This might be why he killed all the women, and injured the baby girl.

Went to a church on Sunday morning to see a mum with a baby daughter sitting at the first line. During the Mass, I couldn't stop sobbing with great sorrow and praying for all victims, including people traumatised by this crime.
However, I also want to say to the attacker's family that "it's OK to cry for your lost son or brother. " Maybe it is our fault because we failed to look after our neighbour, him, until his spirit is eaten all.

If only mental health services were that good. I guarantee the parents spoke up but were dismissed.
you dont get help with mental health issue you maybe go on a waiting list for a few years for a few weeks in hospital why people think theres actual help is beyond me there isnt , they wait till you hurt others or yourself before they maybe lock you up in a prison mental ward

There is something wrong with someone who attacks people. There is something wrong with someone who attacks women. If he had mental health issues, that doesn't necessarily mitigate anything and those who shared these issues aren't necessarily doing so to let him off the hook. Very tragic

Nice of this news station to mention the name of the police officer after she had asked for her identity to not be released.
The police officer’s name was breached very early on by government officials and others. She’s rightly getting praised.
IT IS important to make sure us and our family get mental health.
I say this because years ago a man with a mental problem tried to enter to my apartment in Mexico. He was yelling he was going to kill me. Luckily he couldn't kick the door open, but next day he did the same to other neighbor and stabbed more than 30 times his door with a Katana.
It turned out the Mom left this person alone in their apartment and wasn't taking his medicine, but she went to live close and both times he went back to pick him up after he tried to attack us.
HELP YOUR PEOPLE and SEEK FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT.

I went on his Facebook yesterday, he was asking in groups around the local area to meet up with people to go surfing, quite sad really how someone can go from what appears to be a normal person to someone who can inflict such chaos and take the lives and affect many others in another day, if its mental health as they claim, then more needs to be done to prevent such things from occurring rather than just letting it go untouched until breaking point.
yeah when anyone turned up to surf am pretty sure they would not have went home , we have never had good mental health care ever they wait till u hurt yourself or others and then lock u in a prison mental ward thats how its always been why people think there help is beyond me

Like what though? What is it that you think will change these kinds of people? He could look after himself, he was washed and dressed and eating and active. What support did he need in your opinion? He no doubt had a prescription given his history, but it was up to him to take it. Therapy? For what? He was functional, his life wasn't limited by his illness. You can't "help" people respect the lives of others and stop them from harming them.
