She's amazing. In November 2016, Aaradhna gave away her hip-hop award at the 2016 New Zealand Music Awards, believing that she had "been placed in this category, because I'm brown". She opined that "you can't give a singer an award for Best Hip Hop artist".
Well hip-hop to me encompasses more than just a rap… But I suppose I see her larger point. They just assumed she was hip hop just cause she’s brown, where she could be indie pop or something else.
AaRADhna is soooo slept on especially in America!I’ve been listening to her since I was 17 years(I’m now 34) when I heard I’m Never. Her music is pure soul music. Signed a poor black girl from the eastern shore of Maryland 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
This video makes me extremely happy. I saw her live years ago and had drinks w her after the show and she is the chillest, sweetest artist l, I’ll never ever forget that night. She’s been so slept on. I remember all her originals she had out on UA-cam singing to her webcam back in the day and I still remember lyrics to some gems she wrote and never released. Great writer and just had it all. She’s been too slept in and I wish for her to come back in the game and release some more beautiful music cause she definitely has it. 😭❤
