Should air this Wednesday on GSN. First show with $1,400/$1,750/$2,250, $1,000+S/$2,000orL1W/Prize and Prize/Prize/Prize. Also, first show with $1,500 in R2, SQ13.
First episode with all of the board changes in round 2, which are as follows: 1. Reaching up Whammy in #1 is swapped with $1400 in #18 to get that whammy out of the corner for Pick-A-Corner (making square #1 an all cash square) 2. Leaning Whammy in #17 is swapped with $600 in #16 3. $1500+spin in #15 is swapped with $2000/LOW in #16 to make the latter accessible via Pick a Corner and the Move one Space in #14. This created a cash conflict for Pick-A-Corner between squares 1 and 15, but the chance to lose a whammy makes this conflict somewhat forgivable. 4. $2000 in #13 is reduced to $1500 (presumably to prevent the possibility of a contestant having to move one space [in #14] to $2000 or $2000/LOW) FWIW I would have put $2000/LOW in #10 and put a second prize in #15, so #13 could have kept it's $2000 space.

@@lisacogar1490 I don't. I'm the kind of person who takes the show like it is. If more classic whammies return, then more classic whammies return. I'm not holding my breff on all of the whammies returning. Keep dreaming, or actually do something about it.
To be fair, this was the first time since 2/26/84 that #16 contained a whammy slide in round 2. Too bad she became the first to hit that whammy under this round 2 board change
Something else odd in Round 1: During Jon's spins, the prize in Square #7 changes from Skis to Earrings to a Bracelet and then back to Earrings - nowhere in that stretch was that square actually hit. What gives?
That happened a lot...In episode 379 a trip to Palm Springs which was already hit and won reappeared and ended up deciding the game on a move one space hit.. The losing contestant was brought back because the other choice was, ironically, the Mediterranean Cruise, which gave the contestant the win as he already had a trip to Palm Springs in the same game!
Too bad the Mediterranean Cruise didn't have the high price of $6,704 for this episode (I'm guessing that was the price in the later episodes) If the $6,704 price would have been used, Jon would have beaten Steve by $120 instead of losing to him by $286. To be fair, Jon may have passed a bit too early, especially with Jody essentially out of the running with $0
A decision to Press Your Luck or Pass boils down to both your odds of recovering if you get a Whammy on the next spin and your opponent's odds of getting a Whammy on any of the Passed spins. The chance of getting a Whammy is about 1/6, so the chance of avoiding a Whammy on one spin is 5/6, or 83.3%. The chance of avoiding a Whammy on two spins is (5/6)^2 = 69.4%. Subsequently, the chance on three spins is (5/6)^3 = 57.9%, on four spins is (5/6)^4 = 48.2%, and so on, with a (5/6)^n chance on n spins. If Jon pressed his luck and got a Whammy, then he would have three spins to either catch up (very difficult) or force Steve to take hoping for scorched earth. With four spins passed to him, Steve had to walk the wire, and and managed to avoid the Whammy, just beating the percentage that time.
The Pick-a-Corner became a badly planned feature because after a couple seasons, this feature had corners that didn't hold an extra spin. This made it anticlimactic. If Jon had a corner prize option with an extra spin, the game outcome would have been more interesting to see what would have happened with an extra spin.
I'm not saying Jon was wrong in passing, he just made a choice that just didn't work out in his favor....RE: Pick a Corner...Square #15 always had a slide with an extra spin attached...it just wasn't showing when Jon needed it.
Crazy that the Mediterranean Cruise (the single largest prize in classic PYL) ends up being center stage in that amazing finish in this, its debut.
It also was center stage at the end of episode 379....which resulted in a losing contestant coming back.

That is a heart-stopper
Yeah. Jon pretty much had no whammies and lost to a hot whammy-free streak from Steve.
$286....yes it was

On 17:25; the 2nd board sound was heard in this episode!!
AARON BAKER
Possibly the 3rd board sound muted, so the 2nd Sound was edited in post-production.
$4,290 is a pretty good 1st round total. Too bad it didn't hold up, which it almost did, with that Mediterranean Cruise hit, WOW......
Jon looks like Burt Reynolds.
Which is why Jon answered Burt Reynolds on a question in Round 2.

That would have made Randy West's amazing comeback win with the car look like peanuts compared to if this had been the case.
