When you watch Bobby Jones you can see that no matter who you watch today they are all doing the same things, even the long drive guys. It’s tempo and using the body to get the distance. He always said that the key is to keep relaxed and start the swing with the left side. I have been doing his swing for years and it’s effortless. But like him I have to make sure that I hinge my wrists because when you do a lazy relaxed swing you can forget that. And as he says, that’s your stinger and that’s how you get your distance. Bobby is the best golfer of all time. I don’t think anyone else can compare. Especially when you think about when you played. They didn’t have the technology we have and they didn’t have a player mark their ball. They had to play a jump shot over the opponents ball. Not too mention he had to make his own clubs. He was still hitting the ball 300yrds. I would like to see the guys today play with that equipment and on those courses with the old rules. I would be surprised if they could break par .

some good points but do you really think they hit the ball 300yds? i'd like to see the stats on guys like bobby jones, i would think the drives would be more like 250 max with the equipment they had. he did it so elegantly though.

Wow!! The only 2 times I got lessons, I was told my swing was too flat. As a result my "corrected" swing took me from low 80's to high 90's. Those lessons where a waste. If a flat swing is good enough for the legend, then it's good enough for me

I can swing using what I think and feel is this type action and hit these really nice loopy draws that go really out to the right but come back nicely to the middle and it will work for quite awhile but then I lose it and can't figure out why and what i'm doing wrong and then i'm off to something else that works for awhile .

Jones is THE GOAT, never won a dime aswell.
Something to be said about how playing for the love of the game is lost in Profe$ional $ports these days.

Interestingly his hips and shoulders are closed while his stance is open which places the ball further back than it looks. Seems similar to Hogan.

He only can turn in a barrel because he placed rhe ball towards his front foo so he can laterally shift his hips to the target.. in addition look at how much his forearms rotated on the left video.

There is no mechanical justification in claiming the modern golf swing is better than the classic golf swing. We just fall prey to the golf industry and their pseudo-scientific theories. So the commentator is correct here: this type of swing could come back. But there is so much tolerance built into the modern clubs, especially the driver that one can succeed even with sub-optimal technique.
